TheDoctorsTV and the Dungu Fruit Facial Ruse, Healthy Snack Machines, and Truth in Advertising

You have been socially conditioned to respond to certain commercial images and verbal phrase to be sold on a new product or service and TheDoctorsTV show took advantage of this fact today.

The women who thought they were going to be treated to a complimentary facial with the new Dungu Fruit from Indonesia imagined that they would be pampered, renew their complexion, and save $600 in the process.

Some people are extremely gullible and some are overly trusting. Dr. Travis sure had a good laugh playing on these traits in the people who were in front of the hidden camera for his Vending Machine ruse. Anyone, including a doctor, who thinks that you can easily find healthy snacks in vending machines doesn’t often buy snacks this way. Unless you live in San Fransisco where there is a push for city vending machines to offer healthy choices, you might be out of luck and have no truly healthy choice that a voice could counsel you about. But it was funny, because people were willing to do virtually anything to go along with the hidden voice. In truth, there are very few health-oriented vendors who are going to let their wares sit in vending machines and become stale, rancid, or aged. If you want healthy snacks, buy them from our online vendors or go to your local health food store.

I don’t think that Dr. Travis would recognize a healthy snack even if one were to be found in a vending machine. He doesn’t trust enzymes, vitamins, or herbs either…that’s clear from his comments. He has ‘trust issues’. A little experience will resolve this for him.

Dr. Jim was pretty cool with the kids and the ice cream treats in the ice cream truck. Do suberbs still have those? It’s not the green way to sell your ice cream these days!

The only healthy item that Dr. Jim had to give out to the children was the frozen fruit pop. I am certain that it is loaded with sugar and artificial flavor, but it was the only thing that even resembled something edible on that truck. Most vendors appealing to the kids on a block on a hot sunny day are not going to be carrying healthy ice cream made from coconut milk or soy milk. You’ll have to go to the health food store to get healthy cold ice cream or frozen fruit snacks and treats. They DO exist at Whole Foods Markets and at Food Coops. I have bought them locally for my young ones for two decades. There is more of a selection these days now than ever before and believe me, they taste A LOT better than the lousy ice cream on the cute little truck with the tunes.

Well, truth in advertising also takes being informed and knowledgeable about what’s in the ingredients of any treat or snack or even a can of coconut milk. Dr. Oz had a guest that clearly doesn’t know coconut milk in its natural form, instead of the sweet substitute that is loaded with sugar and barely resembles real coconut milk. Can the producers of these shows do their research before exposing their lack of awareness of these things that are all about true health and wellness. That’s what people are looking for! A ruse is funny for a moment or two, and then after the laughs are finished; people want the truth.
