We got to see Rocco DeSpirito return to the stage with the Doctors and give us some more healthy recipes like the black bean brownies from his new book, “Eat This Now Diet” and his new TV show.

Rocco continues to build better dishes on the Food Network when he appears on episodes of “Melting Pot”, especially with Cat Cora. He showed off his new color chart on TheDoctorsTV show today and is trying to make calorie counting easier for people with a color code. While I could care less for the nuisance of counting calories, some people just cannot fathom letting go of that antiquated method for watching your weight. To each his own…

I would prefer that you learn how to use the color of foods to understand their bio-energetic value to your body’s organs and systems. But that is the subject better left for another day! Color Therapy goes far beyond a caloric measure. Don’t get me started…about how neophytes perturb the knowledge for others.

At least Rocco pointed out that there are vegetables that offer the weight watcher an option to burn more calories than they are consuming by eating asparagus, broccoli, cucumbers, dark leafy greens, and other vegetables in a salad or other dishes. Bless your broccoli and beans… It’s one thing to focus on eating Negative Calorie foods, but quite another to eat an array of organic vegetables, fruits, greens, and beans.

So what about that ‘perfect pizza’?

Rocco showed his favorite alternative recipe for pizza which featured a whole wheat crust, lots of veggies, and just a little cheese to try to make sense of a fast food that has contributed to the obesity of people who cram the cheesy pepperoni slices down during sporting events and when they are too lazy to cook in their own kitchens.

I did appreciate the comments that Dr. Lisa and Dr. Jim made about the original intent of humans eating foods like pizza when they are more active in the old traditions. In Italy, you get more vegetables and artisan cheese and real sauce on your flatbread along with a glass or bottle of red wine. It comes with a big salad and dishes making it a minute part of the entire meal, not the focal point of preference. It’s all about Balance.

You can make the perfect pizza at home or find it at a local pizzeria that specializes in healthy entrees. A whole grain crust, preferably not made from wheat flour; a home-made marinara sauce with fresh organic garlic and onion with the organic tomatoes, spices, and herbs; a little grated parm; oregano with other spices that are organic and fresh top off the ideal circular pie that is prepared in a wood-fired brick oven.

Personally, I love a roasted garlic chicken pizza with green and red bell peppers, roasted onions, shi’itake mushrooms, cilantro, parsley, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and sea salt. The chicken is tender and seasoned beautifully and the veggies are crisp for texture as well as nutrition. The sauce can be a white sauce with plenty of garlic, an aoili, a pesto, or a marinara. If you want a variation on this theme, then add some teriyaki sauce or barbeque sauce to the chicken to make it tantalizing. I am getting hungry right now.

Dr. Drew told the audience that they could eat oysters, avocados, and almonds to spring their skin into shape. While pearl powder, apricots, and flaxseed oil are also incredible for your skin; he gave you three good foods for healthy skin. The advances made in the use of radio waves seems to be working for firming up sagging skin at the Spa or Salon, but you need to begin taking good care of your skin when you are young with some of the tips that Dr. Jim gave to the audience. However, you should not resort to having to wear the get patches under your eyes by properly hydrated without stressing your liver or kidneys.

The doctors went on to describe all of the reasons why you should select and wear the right shoes to keep your feet in fabulous shape. The high heels are hardly healthy for the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the bones in addition to the bones. Even tennis shoes must be fitted properly and support the arches of your feet to provide the necessary support for your fleeting feet. I happen to love Birkenstocks and I must say that I like my clogs. Brands like Teva and others have come a long way to bring you footware for healthy feet.
