TheDoctorsTV and Heathy Savings on Health Care: LivingSocial, Shopping in Bulk, and Summer Savers
TheDoctorsTV aired a repeat episode that I missed the first time around. Dr. Jim started today’s show off with a big bang for Savings on health care items and wellness services from LivingSocial. Other ways to save money and avoid mistakes were shared throughout the rest of the hour…the best of which were shopping ideas and methods for dealing with health issues during the summer months.
LivingSocial is one of my all-time favorite companies who are bringing local deals to people in all kinds of places. Spa treatments, discounts off Red Wine and good food, health care services in specialties like acupuncture and chiropractic, and deals offering 50% off the normal rates at companies that you’ll find in your city are among the most common things you’ll find daily.
LivingSocial seems to do more for healthy Lifestyles than Groupon or other comparable businesses. You can subscribe to the daily Deals from LivingSocial at no cost to you, and then you’ll save a fortune when you find some offer that appeals to your specific tastes. Although, in all fairness, I often find some excellent offers coming in regularly from Groupon, Yollar, TheCustomerAdvantage, and a few other companies that are successfully using this business model. It helps the merchants when you continue to shop at their establishments once you develop a business relationship when they are giving you such a deep initial discount on their stuff for introductory specials!

Shopping ideas on today’s episode made good sense and all of the physicians seem equally capable of finding good ways to save money on health care purchases of goods and services.

If you have come to know me by now, you will appreciate the fact that one of the resources that Dr. Jim identified was for recycling and the re-use of unwanted items in local communities.
The ReUseIt Network helps you find people locally, yet is active in many countries around the world. The time to recycle what you no longer can use, but still will work for other people has never been easier to locate those who are offering and those who need such items. This is one network which really makes an impact in saving the environment while saving people money sharing goods that still have a lot of life left in them.

There is another method for enjoying Savings when you shop with companies that value your age. Children and Seniors are among those age-related populations which get special treatment from many business people.
Saving money when you go out to eat with your children or with their friends in tow can get expensive, so this site is going to help you identify places where parents and teachers can save money on food and dining.

While this next resource doesn’t save you money directly, it is more like a lending or rental library of eBooks. eBooks can cost you a fair amount of money for just one read and then what do you do with the information. Well, here, you can share the resources with others by using their online system.
I thought it was interesting that the doctors suggested that you shop alone or with a friend that will help you limit your purchases, shop with cash while you shop for sales items, and shop with a List to keep your focus on what you need, not on extra items that knock your socks off in the moment with slick placement in stores. Maybe doctors do their own shopping!
It might seem common and normal to physicians, especially Dr. Travis who lives and breathes in the Emergency Room; but it’s hard for many people to believe that hospitals make so many errors when billing their patients. The doctors’ advice to check your medical billing charges after a stay at the hospital was probably one of the most revealing segments on the show. Hospitals are very disorganized when it comes to accurately billing patients for the procedures they get, the medications they receive, and the items they use. There are more mistakes than anyone would expect, so it is a way to not only hold the hospital accountable, but to save some money by making sure you are only billed and pay for what you actually used.
The pretty CVS representative fielded questions about Summer health issues. She only gave the most basic answers and ideas for the treatment of health problems that people most often encounter during the Summer months. Out of the many discussed, the most frequent are related to bug bites and stings. While the typical options like calamine lotion and epi pens was given, there are other more natural methods that no one seemed to be aware of on this medical panel. Where do doctors vacation during the Summer?
Jellyfish stings are painful and can be remedied with vinegar. Bug Bites often result in some degree of inflammation which is lessened by applying the Essential Oil of Lavender or Myrrh. The early application of Rosemary can inhibit insects from landing or biting you. Citronella is also known for deflecting insects and bugs by scent alone.
When you travel, you might want to take some of these things with you just in case you need them and they aren’t readily available en route. The Nopalea cactus juice is good when taken internally for reducing inflammation whether it is affecting the interior of the body or even joints and muscles. Pearl Powder is the most effective for internal and topical inflammation or irritation. You can make a poultice out of the Essential Oils and the Pearl Powder to use on your skin. You can also take the pearl internally with plenty of pure water to quell inflammation.
I don’t know much when it comes to tatoo removal or fender benders, so you’ll have to seek your free ideas about these things elsewhere. But I do know that your health care doesn’t have to be expensive and that there are hundreds of ways to reduce the costs of natural health care. There are practitioners who use holistic methods that will take your case when you don’t have the funds to pay for their services on special occasions. There are non-profit organizations that make it their business to assist you with cost-effective health care regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, and ability to repay. You just have to ask…
