TheDoctorsTV and Healthy Food Choices: Even Physicians Have to Eat Well to Stay Well
Dr. Travis can be counted upon to suggest to his audience that healthy foods are important for prevention and athletic performance. Dr. Jim eats better than the rest of the group and shares his enthusiasm with his young patients to help them develop healthy Lifestyle choices for the rest of their lives.
On today’s show a nutritionist named Cynthia displayed a few healthy foods that met with the doctor’s approval. Dr. Jim and Dr. Travis both nibbled on the samples as Cynthia described the nutritional value of the foods she had chosen to highlight.
First there was avocado and spinach dip. It paired lemon juice, sea salt, and garlic with the avocado and spinach to keep it healthier than the typical dip that has sour cream or mayonnaise as the emulsifier and body of the dip.
Then there were the little bite-sized morsels filled with carrots, red peppers, zucchini, and other sturdy vegetables to be wrapped and dipped in a soy sauce. This gives some crunch and texture to a healthy snack or appetizer using spring rolls that are fast and easy to make.
The kale, cashew, banana, and agave syrup smoothie is green and good for either a dessert or a snack or even a breakfast beverage. Both doctors were surprised that it tasted sweet, because they associate kale with a savory seasoning.
