TheDoctorsTV and Health Ideas That Go Beyond Skin Deep

The doctors dedicated the entire show to fixing skin flaws and most of the methods were just skin deep.

While that’s fine and the medical community has come a long way with lazers and techniques to reduce the severity of scars, wrinkles, and sagging skin; there is still more to do that is beyond skin deep.

There was one food that Dr. Drew brought to people’s attention that he uses externally that can also be used internally to promote the health of the skin…and that’s papaya. Papaya has many nutrients and enzymes which support proper protein metabolism and the absorption of minerals and vitamins that are important for maintaining the health of our skin. Coconut milk, coconut water, and coconut oil is also beneficial for the skin. Nuts, seeds, and whole grains are also going to provide nutrients which the body will use to keep the skin youthful and resilient.

Dr. Drew and Dr. Lisa also described how garlic, lemon juice, and wheat grass juice can be used externally to reduce the redness of scars. Dr. Lisa must not eat much garlic, because she kept mentioning that you might smell like a salad when it’s more likely that you would smell like pizza or garlic bread with external application of garlic juice. Personally, I would rather eat my garlic and use some professionally-formulated organic skin care products.

EFAs are going to contribute to the beauty of your skin, especially when your diet consists of nuts, seeds, whole grains, salmon, and other oily fish. You can take a nutritional supplement to get a balanced amount of the various EFAs to blend with the whole food sources that you can eat daily. We like Coromega, Barlean’s Flax Seed Oil, Krill Oil, and Chia Seed Meal to add to our regular foods to get sufficient quanitities of our EFAs.

We also want to point out that minerals are extremely important to maintain and repair your skin. In particular, you will want to ensure that your dietary sources of zinc, copper, silica, and boron are plentiful. We prefer to get these minerals from Liquid Ionic Mineral supplementation. MSM powder or capsules can be an additional mineral support system for your skin. If you eat a variety of vegetables, seaweed, and fresh fruits; then your minerals can come from whole foods as well as from supplements. Most soils are so depleted that food isn’t always going to have as many minerals present as our produce did years ago when the top soil was intact. Deep Diversity and sustainable agricultural practices will eventually change this situation, but for now it is a good idea to have your assurance policy in place with supplements.

Healthy oils like olive oil, nut oils, and seed oils are going to be good for your skin. There are both external and internal applications of healthy oils that contribute to skin health.

Purified water is virtually essential to maintain hydration while keeping your skin healthy. The quality of water that you drink as well as the quality of water that you use for bathing really does matter. You can use a Tyent water system in your home for this purpose.

One thing that the doctors didn’t mention was that it is now problematic to use products like petroleum jelly on our skin. There are more natural and organic products that will keep the skin moist, supple, and soft on the market and you’ll find them on the aisles of your Whole Foods Markets.

Your skin is a vital organ…one of your body’s largest; so it becomes a normal part of your healthy Lifestyle to take good care of your skin. Even Dr. Oz is warning about the use of anti-perspirants with aluminum or other synthetic ingredients in them. Wheat grass with chlorophyll helps with odor and perspiration on the skin according to Dr. Oz on his show today. These doctors are really getting into the natural methods for taking care of your skin. Just remember to go further than mere skin deep measures to truly have healthy skin.

I agree your viewpoint. My experience has shown your points to be true, then again, I have also seen the opposite from different articles like this one. Do you have any recommendations for getting more savvy ideas on natural health or related topics? I would certainly appreciate it!
