TheDoctorsTV and Food Choking Hazards, Foods to Fight Fat, and Dog Bite Dialogue
TheDoctorsTV featured a show today that gave the audience a wealth of information about what to do in emergencies to save people’s lives. There was a broad range of topics that doctors face frequently, but most people rarely encounter. Yet if you watched today’s episode, you’ll be better equipped to know what to do when things go terribly wrong.
The first thing that I want to comment upon is the subject of Food Choking Hazards. The doctors gave excellent information about preventing choking. Dr. Jim sliced hot dogs lengthwise three times to make them slim enough to slide down a child’s throat more easily. Hot Dogs are the primary foods that young children choke upon and cutting the tofu pups into pieces will really reduce the risk of choking. Really…they do make tofu pups! My personal favorite is grass-fed hot dogs that are frozen and can be heated in two minutes in boiling water to preserve the taste. I refuse to ruin a good hot dog with a bun, so I simply pack on a lot of sauerkraut and mustard along with a side of some type of green vegetable like broccoli or peas or spinach for a good lunch or snack. When my children were young, I would slice coin-size pieces of tofu pups for them and make sure that they chewed each one before plucking the next morsel with their forks. This cuts down on the choking hazard by ensuring small bites with no bread to choke on with the hard meat when kids are scarfing their food down.
As far as hard candy goes, it is one of the most challenging of choking hazards due to the hardness. It doesn’t melt quickly and it is not maleable. It’s exceptionally difficult to dislodge from the throat once stuck. You might as well call the medics or rush your child to the emergency room under such circumstances. Better yet, just avoid hard candies, especially those huge balls of hard sugar and artificial flavoring. What are you doing offering that horrible candy to your darlings in the first place? It’s not healthy.
Dr. Jim also pointed out the dangers of marshmallows. I haven’t eaten those puffs of sugar for decades, so they usually escape my attention. They should go the way of the hard candy and never grace the lips of your children ever again. If your kids do happen to be at a party where marshmallows are put into hot chocolate or used for smores or roasting around the campfire; then tell your children to be careful and chew small bites well. Most kids are smart enough to follow your instructions. Any child that learns how hard it is to hold one’s breath will realize that they don’t want to restrict their air passages with food. Talk to your young children and walk them through the reasons why they need to chew their food well and why they need to follow all of your precautions.
I once choked on fish bones and it was years before I was willing to eat a fish with bones that could present a risk of choking…it was THAT unpleasant and the memory of choking almost robbed me of learning how to debone fish. In the end, my love of food led me to figure out how to ensure that all the bones were removed before cooking or eating fish. I have never had another problem, because I had gained a respectful awareness that has lasted a lifetime.
The same lesson goes for gulping down soda pop. You can teach your children and your husbands to sip instead of guzzling… Your children should also learn to eat at the family dining room table and then without food in their mouths share in the conversation. Manners go hand-in-hand with preventing choking hazards whenever kids are eating food with others in a social setting.
The final idea for preventing choking in young children is to cut all hard foods into smaller pieces and steam vegetables to soften them. I do love my raw veggies and dips, but for young babes, it is much better to steam the vegetables and greens to soften them. You can also avoid fried foods for small ones. Crispy chicken and fries can be choked on easily, so give young children tender chicken in small bite-sized pieces and make mashed or baked potatoes instead of fries. Texture matters…
A couple of days ago, the physicians featured a few foods that would help you to fight fat. We want you to know that a raw foods diet or a plant-based whole foods diet will bring you to your ideal weight without strenuous effort. It’s a natural process when you eat healthy foods. You can use thermogenic herbs and spices like cayenne, cumin, oregano, thyme, ginger, and hot peppers. But don’t go overboard in the process… If you eat warming foods, they will support healthy metabolism more readily than foods that possess a cold nature at a bio-energetic level. Oatmeal, whole oat groats, and other whole grains are good for more meals than breakfast. Just don’t combine whole grains with acidic fruit juice or citrus fruits. Use berries or fruits like bananas instead. Greens and salads are excellent food choices to help your hungry tummy be satiated while providing nutrients and fiber. Just remember to use organic healthy salad dressings along with organic herbs and seasonings to accompany your salads and greens. Use a wok or steam your greens in a bamboo steamer using sea salt and seasonings like balsamic vinegar, toasted sesame oil, and tamari or miso paste to flavor your greens.
That Green Tea that Dr. Lisa discussed as a better choice than soft drinks had a tea bag in it on the set. Don’t use Green Tea that comes in a tea bag. Brew your Green Tea using the finest tea leaves that you can find to get the health benefits and the weight loss of the tummy fat trimmed with this tea.
Dog Bites are dangerous due to the bacteria in a dog’s mouth and the gaping wounds left by the large teeth in large dogs. You could see the permanent scars on the dog trainer when Dr. Travis was demonstrating dog bites. He was truly nervous and rightly so…even in a demo a dog can do some damage. Dr. Travis said that it hurt and the dog was trained to attack more gently than a vicious dog attack. You don’t want to pull away from the dog while his teeth are still sinking into your flesh. Don’t resist and the dog will usually let go right away and then you can withdraw your extremities. Use your loud voice to command the dog to sit down. Treat the dog bite immediately with your spray of GSE and apply Essential Oils of oregano, thyme, and tea tree oil. If you are in pain, then MSM can be taken or else you can apply a CieAura Holographic Chip to the area for relief from the pain and to induce the healing process to begin rapidly.
One last comment here…
I also watched Dr. Oz today and this is the last day of his 28 Day Soda Pop Challenge. Many people participated and were successful in eliminating or at least reducing the amount of soda they consume. Many felt the difference, including Dr. R who works with Dr. Oz. I had a hard time believing that he still drank soda…knowing what he knows. I have never met an addictive substance that couldn’t be managed and eliminated from one’s dietary regimen. It just takes will power and a decision to do what’s healthy for your body and mind. The alternative fizzy drinks that ARE healthy are China Cola, Reed’s Ginger Brews, Brain Toniq, and Jones Sodas for your healthy choices. Don’t ever compromise your health and wellness for taste or bubbles, especially when there are great alternatives that will meet with your approval.
