The Chew: Love at First Bite and Gwyneth’s Pals in the Kitchen

On Friday after The Oscars fashion icon, Gwyneth Paltrow, was finished with the white cape and drinks at the party with her ‘power pals’ in the movie industry, she settled into The Chew kitchen with her ‘pasta pal’ Mario to make a couple of her favorite dishes.

Gwyneth eats at Mario’s restaurant and loves the chestnut crepes. Mario taught her how to make them. She shared one of her family’s chicken recipes, too, along with her Dad’s pancake recipe. She was into almond milk and healthier foods long before her pals who now think it fashionable.

The Chew and Love at First Bite

Everyone shared their “Love at First Bite” meals that took them from Barcelona to the fancy places in America that served memorable food.

I fell in love with good food in my Mother’s kitchen when I was three and held the paper bag with powdered sugar for the zeppole (donut holes) that she loved to make for us. I got to do the shaking and it was fun!

I remember my hot oatmeal with fresh berries and honey with a creamer in the shape of a jersey cow to dispense the milk into my hot cereal. I remember the lessons of how to twirl a spoon to get a small bite of pasta politely without slurping or flying sauce!

Michael Symon also fell in love with food and cooking at home with real meals made by grandmas and parents.

Clinton tasted Lobster Thermador and wanted to be as ‘fancy’ as his food. Daphne and Carla were traveling when they encountered their first favorite bites and fell in love with goof food.

Mario also had strong family ties to food and it has shaped the course of his career as it has the rest of The Chew’s crew. Daphne stuffed dates and has more in common with her Mother in the kitchen than in the operating room with her Father.

Food changes and molds us…we are better people when our food is better. We are building stronger bonds when we share the food we love with others!
