Processed Food Recall: Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Ingredient Contains Salmonella
Here we go again! The Recall of foods that are processed using a common ingredient which contains Salmonella was just issued for items that date as far back as September 17th.
Processed foods often contain hydrolyzed vegetable protein as an ingredient and this batch made by a Las Vegas company Basic Food Flavors, Inc. appears to be contaminated by Salmonella, serious enough to force a Recall. Although the pathogen can be killed when the food is cooked, many of these processed items do not require heating or cooking, thus they can pose a health threat if they are eaten as they are…out of the box, out of the bag, and as is.
The foods affected range from dip mixes, potato chips, tofu meals, salad dressings, snacks, and soup mixes. The list of foods and brands is on the website. It just goes to show you that once again…it doesn’t pay to eat processed, pre-packaged food items which are NOT whole foods. Despite a company’s best intentions, a pathogen can get into the products and be distributed long before anyone learns of its presence.
Even Earth Island tofu products have been affected by this recall, so check your refrigerators and return all the brand name items for a full refund or replacement at your grocery store. Please consider buying from our online partners who have not been affected by recalls and provide quality foods for your health. They have earned our trust.
If you think that you are suffering from Salmonella poisoning, then it is imperative to seek the assistance of your health professional. As you follow your practitioner’s advice, you can also use some Essential Oils to destroy the pathogens and take Nutri-Biotic to kill the pathogens in the digestive system.
You can also eat citrus fruit like lemon, grapefruit, lime, and tangerine. Garlic and ginger will also help soothe your digestive tract and go after the little buggers. Kudzu Root pudding or gravy will help if you experience diarrhea or intestinal discomfort.
Be careful when selecting packaged and processed foods. Buy from those companies who test constantly for quality control and care enough to use only the best ingredients.
