This episode was a repeat performance of an earlier show, but you still need to find healthy sources of anti-oxidants in whole foods, teas, and herbs that serve to protect your body from free radicals and toxins.

Dr. Oz should instruct his production crew to introduce a whole food like beets, then have a GOOD cook prepare a dish from the organic whole foods for his audience. Then he’ll begin to touch the hem of the garment of Martha Stewart and Alice Waters… Whereas Dr. Oz boils his beets, it’s even better to roast them with olive oil, garlic, and other spices. He barely mentioned this, but he did pay it lip service for a brief moment.
Superfoods like Cupuacu and Goji Berries get their reputation from having all of these nutrients and co-factors. They are even higher than the whole foods that Oz has told you about, but perhaps that will be a topic for one of his future shows or a subject for the producers on Good Morning America. The thing that Dr. Oz is forgetting is the power of citrus fruits like lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, and grapefruit which all have vitamin C for one’s health whether it’s the skin, the cells, and all of the other organs and systems of the human body. All of us who actually cook in the kitchen know enough to put lemon juice on artichokes, avocados, and other foods that brown easily. It’s funny that the people at Good Morning America would turn to Dr. Oz when deciding to report about the HCG Diet craze. He knows only a little about this topic and certainly they could have found an expert.

It’s not that I get tired of hearing what Oz thinks about things that he’s trying to provide an opinion about, but it’s strange that Good Morning America couldn’t take the time to locate someone who has more than an opinion about this Diet.
Maybe the production crew is just plain lazy and disinterested, so they turned to the ‘go-to’ guy on medical issues.
Dr. Oz did do a short segment on the HCG Diet and if you’ll remember, I discussed my thoughts on that day. You can search this blog and read more about what I think about Dr. Oz and the HCG Diet.
Dr. Oz is a curious guy. When he started his show he said that he was curious about the emerging field of Energetic Medicine, but he has only done a few shows after all this time on that topic. Perhaps he lost his memory and sold out to the media interests with advertisers and the mainstream folks who seem to be getting his attention these days.
Even his show today is a repeat… He is doing more to tow the mainstream medical line now more than ever. It’s boring and unproductive.
He occasionally does a segment about trends or health issues that have made it all the way into the public and the media’s spotlight. At least he does share his medical opinion, even if he does not have the time to perform any real research on the topics of this nature.
The HCG Diet is working for a lot of people. Medical science is having a hard time accounting for their success, so the doctors are trying to scramble for an explanation. Dr. Oz says that it merits further exploration. He discounts the products that are the ones working for people and he thinks that the only way to proceed with HCG Diet is to work with a medical doctor to follow one’s progress.
If there really were medical doctors who were experts in this, wouldn’t Dr. Oz be able to name names or clinics. I doubt that any exist that can claim expertise in this area. There are researchers who study HCG, but not the Diet. It’s a marketing thing more than a scientific thing…
If you are overweight or obese, then let’s assume that your endocrine system is out of Balance, You most likely have difficulty changing your routine with food and exercise, so you could try any diet and it would yield unfavorable results. You need a Lifestyle change…

If you had been watching the Early Show, instead of Good Morning America; you would have seen a fellow who lost about 180 pounds in one year with a goal of being able to meet the weight guidelines to jump out of an airplane and parachute back to earth. He was motivated and within one year, he succeeded. His voice is different, his body is different, and he was filmed diving out of the plane and landing enthusiastically on solid ground a better man in a healthier body. He made subtle changes in the way he ate and the way he exercised and the way he blogged to change his Lifestyle. It worked… The segment showed him slicing fresh tomatoes for his turkey sandwich.

This is a touching episode that points out how unscrupulous drug dealers are putting our youth at risk when they present products for a High that can kill. Furthermore, this show pointed out that you cannot arbitrarily trust products on the shelves to give you energy or good feelings.
The Bath Salts that are NOT really Bath Salts have begun to be recognized as a horrific problem that is confusing many young people who pay a High price when experimenting with chemicals that can kill in one fell swoop. The greedy jerks that are putting dangerous chemicals in an innocent package and label should be doused with their own product until they beg for mercy. When is an Energy Drink NOT a real Energy Fix? Most of the time…

Dr. Oz and the fellow who he considers to be his worst critic sparred on stage today.
Regardless of who’s side you choose to be on, the point is that debates like this make people more accountable to the public or to an audience.
Look…we’ve been socially conditioned to trust people who appear on TV and people who write books. But that information cannot always be trustworthy for any number of reasons.
I am not going to take sides. I just want to point out that every one of us has a slightly different perspective based upon our Life experience. Hopefully, it serves us well in our lives.
It’s important for people who are in a position of authority on TV and those who author a book and even those who share their knowledge on a blog be accountable.
I don’t spend time editing and rewriting what you read here daily. I write and publish what I know from decades of direct experience. It’s more than an opinion and it’s certainly more than what I read in a book or see on television. I must be true to myself in order to be true to you.
Not all people share my point of view. But at least you know that when you come here to read what I have written for you. I don’t expect you to believe me, but I do hope that you will take what I am telling you into consideration before making up your mind about what works for you. Ultimately, you must be accountable and responsible for yourself and your personal decisions.
For instance, the sister of one of the audience members that Dr. Oz brought on to the stage was asked about her belief in vitamin B12. She answered that she didn’t just agree with her sister, but that she had done her own reading. Good for her. If you don’t have access to EAV equipment, then at least you can read…
What I have found is that my EAV testing results is reinforced with lab work and a person’s experience. All in all, it serves us well. We are not guessing, we are not agreeing with some colleague or relative, and we are not staking our health upon someone’s opinion. This makes us feel more comfortable when making decisions about our health and wellness in our Lifestyles.

You almost need an owner’s manual for your pets these days that comes with information for treating the diseases that dogs, cats, horses, birds, and other critters that we befriend host that can affect our human health as much as their own.

I approved of the statement that every cancer and every patient is ‘individual’. Dr. Oz had two experts share information about cancer with audience questions on today’s show.
They just didn’t go far enough. They only touched the surface of this subject. I hope that Oz will devote more time in the future to expand upon what was discussed today.
The hammer illustrated the difficulty with cancer spreading into other tissue through the blood and lymph. The demo was over the top, because there is no mechanism like a hammer in your body. It allows the passage of abnormal cells through the typical process, so you need to deal with your fluid metabolism with substances that will purify the blood and lymph and target the abnormal cells and pathogens that are responsible for the problems. We’ve talked about how to accomplish this, so search for detoxification and cleaning here in previous posts.
The benefits of the Raw Food diet was addressed. Downside? Dangerous? This expert clearly has no expertise on Raw Foods preparation methods or food facts, just speculation and assumptions which are inaccurate. Apple juice that is sweetened with artificial or refined sugar is a problem, but apple juice that is organic and freshly-juiced is fantastic. You know that these experts don’t differentiate between all of the significant details with these issues.
But then she at least talked about some Lifestyle issues that are pertinent. Smoking, exposure to toxic materials, eating processed foods, alcohol consumption, synthetic hormones replacement were mentioned all in one breath. We’ve discussed all of these things which you can search for on this Blog.
Dr. Oz repeated the fact that a healthy Lifestyle is important and that’s the truth, even if they both understated the significance of a healthy Lifestyle when it comes to preventing any incidence of cancer or other degenerative diseases.
There was a little food advice about what to avoid and what to include in your diet. Far more information should be offered on a show like this about the foods to ELIMINATE. If you are truly serious about preventing disease and cancer; then you must be diligent and disciplined with every morsel of food that enters your body.
One of the experts said to limit red meat processed with nitrates or nitrites. No…don’t limit it, eliminate it altogether. There is no shortage of free-range hormone free grass-fed beef that you can find in any Whole Foods Markets, Food Coops, and local health food stores. Other cured meats like bacon, ham, and lunch meats also contain nitrites and nitrates, so eliminate those, too. There are healthy alternatives that are easy to find in health-oriented markets. Beans are good. That’s true, but you simply must eat organic beans and legumes. The dry beans that you soak and cook in your own kitchen are better than canned beans. The expert also suggested that you add a spice mix of turmeric, black pepper, and garlic in a shaker for beans or veggies. But use real garlic, instead of only garlic powder. The use of spices and fresh herbs is brilliant, especially if the spices and herbs are fresh and organic. You can grind your own spices and find fresh herbs locally to ensure their health benefits. If you use old McCormick tin jars of lifeless herbs; then they will not serve you at all, except to offer up a little fiber.
Cook with your spices just like the Indian people cook their garan masala, a variety of curries, and other spices in oil before adding any other vegetables or meats. Martha Stewart featured her niece who prepared a turmeric beverage on her show today. Organic Chai is delicious and has many of the spices that will protect the body from disease.
Green Tea – the expert suggested that it takes four to seven cups a day to make a difference, so the recommendation was to drink Matcha instead. I have news for you, Matcha IS Green Tea in its more natural state as a powder and it is an improvement over bagged or milled teas that sit on your grocery shelves and loss their essence.

Cauliflower is good and Dr. Oz thinks it’s delicious. It needs to be organic and prepared properly. You can’t drizzle it with butter and salt and expect it to be healthy for you. Sea salt and other seasonings will make it one of your favorite vegetable dishes.
Did you hear Dr. Oz compare your kidneys to trash bins? The kidneys filter the blood to remove impurities and to reclaim calcium among other functions. The colon is more of the trash bin than the kidney. Kidneys might be better compared to a water filter or a washing machine than a trash barrel. Come on Dr. Oz….think! If you are going to use an analogy, please be more accurate.
Let’s see….what else was on the Oz agenda? One woman wanted to understand how missing only a few tests could have put her friend at risk for the rapid development of breast cancer.
How does cancer progress so quickly? The pathogens that are pleomorphic can migrate to any type of tissue through the blood and lymph and when you have created the most hospitable environment for cancer to develop; then all it takes is one pathogen that alters the cells. You need to change the environment in order to prevent this from happening in the body. You also need to detox regularly, if you resist making these changes.
Dynamic Duo foods? Chickpeas and red peppers. Hummus has more than iron and vitamin C does help absorption, but peppers offer much more than C. Eggs, broccoli, or tomato? It doesn’t have to be one or the other. If you are going to eat eggs; then include a variety of vegetables in scrambled eggs or omelet. If you have ever eaten a quiche, you will get my point. Can someone on Dr. Oz’s staff do a better job of researching these food segments please?
Balsamic vinegar, shrimp, or pasta? We’ve told you about dressings and sauces made with balsamic vinegar which is so utterly delightful for both taste and health. But you can put shrimp or salmon in your pasta with balsamic… I say that there are more Trios than Duos! Many good cooks use five to ten ingredients in healthy dishes. This is common knowledge and common sense.

I have so much to say about this subject that I don’t know where to begin.
Dr. Oz had two guest experts on his show today that did cover the basic problems that patients encounter with their physicians.
It’s true that communication is difficult and rarely comprehensive. But the point was made that when scheduling an appointment, it needs to be made clear what the intent is and how much time needs to be dedicated to the appointment. Most doctors won’t take the time that patients feel they need to totally understand the case, but both parties need to provide the remedy for this. The patient needs to demand adequate time and the doctor needs to be patient enough to fully explain and determine what is happening with the patient.
It’s true that many doctors think that people don’t know their own bodies. Many don’t, but many more are more adept than ever before with knowing exactly what is going on internally and what needs to be addressed by the doctor. The patient is an integral part of the Team that treats the patient.
It’s true that there are unnecessary tests and procedures that waste time and money. The physicians are threatened by malpractice and lawsuits for lack of proper care, so they perform these needless tests and lab procedures. You really have to be your own advocate and demand more about this from your doctor before undergoing the procedures. It takes two to reach a satisfactory conclusion and agreement about the course of treatment and care.
It’s true that doctors don’t have all of the answers. More doctors need to use the EAV equipment to give their patients the best health care available with correct and accurate diagnostic capabilities. This situation will be remedied with time and knowledge.
Case management is a huge issue for doctors and office personnel must help organize the doctor’s routine and schedule better. Patients hate to wait for an hour or longer only to have five minutes with the doctor. I have suggested that patients who are made to wait send the doctor a bill for their time. See how quickly the doctor sees that patient for the next scheduled appointment.
Dr. Oz featured kiwi, celery, and some other foods for your health. I will return tomorrow to comment about that, since it’s time for me to go and make my whole foods dinner and I don’t plan on smearing it on my face. There are better organic personal care products for that…
That whole segment with the purses and the products was funny… I would never carry a monster-sized purse without my chiropractor in tow. All of those personal care items can be used in the car or back at home, instead of dragging them along with you. Have some at your office, but don’t carry the medicine chest around with you!
I was proud, but confused with Dr. Oz and his choice of words to use to describe the Chiropractor he shared the stage with today. He called the audience member a ‘victim’, instead of a patient. Believe it or not, Chiropractors are well-respected and competent professionals and have been for fifty years or longer. Dr. Oz needs to know a lot more about chiropractic therapies in order to appreciate the immense help they provide to millions of people around the world. He is not fully informed yet.
I have more friends and colleagues who are Chiropractors than any other area of expertise. They excel at what they do and our community relies upon their health care services more often than those of our local physicians from any other specialty. But then our community is probably more advanced and progressive than most…
Be careful who you entrust the care of your body to these days… You must trust the provider(s) you choose to develop a genuine and healthy relationship with for your own well-being.

Dr. Jim told his audience that when he takes long drives to the mountains, he frequently stops and stretches his legs by jogging around his car a couple of times. This stretches the muscles in his legs, it gives his circulation a chance to flow unrestricted, and he becomes active enough to prevent him from falling asleep while driving long distances.
Dr. Lisa wears special stockings when she flies in an airplane. An example of this was her trip to Haiti and Africa. This improves the circulation in her legs while she sits on an airplane for extended periods of time with little possibility to move around or stretch her legs.
I think that Dr. Travis is on the run most of the time when he isn’t sitting on the panel on the stage of TheDoctorsTV. He appears to be busy when working in the ER and constantly on his feet. He also talks about his frequent outings on his bike and walking his dog along with other exercises. You can follow the example he sets by engaging in more vertical activity on your feet like walking. Swimming is also a very favorable form of exercise, because the water supports the weight of your body, yet you move while you are swimming.
I prefer Yoga. I also enjoy Tai Chi. You can perform these movements virtually anywhere at any time, even in cramped space and keep your body functioning well in the process.
Stretching your arms and legs and working with your range of motion will also be useful when you fly, drive, or sit for long periods of time. You should stretch every hour.
There is a series on TV called Sit and Be Fit. You should check your local listings for this show. She has a DVD, too, if you cannot find her on TV.
It doesn’t take much to flex your muscles, rotate your wrists, and move what ever body parts are feeling sluggish or immobilized when you travel long distances. If you are the passenger, you have more freedom to make small adjustments. If you are the driver; then you need to plan hourly stops along your route to stretch, move, and keep your body comfortable.
When you fly, it is very difficult to find some room to move around; but at least the restrooms have enough space for you to stretch your arms and stand for awhile to improve the circulation in your legs. Even when you are sitting in your assigned seat, you can move your legs back and forth to some extent and move your arms around with enough motion to keep them from going numb.
If you are on a train, you can walk to the dining area or to the lobby car where there are tables and chairs with more room. If you cannot move around at night; then at least you can stand up at your assigned seat and hold on while you stand up straight for a few minutes to stretch your legs and arms and change positions.
Your circulatory system with blood and lymphatic fluid can be impaired when we cut off our circulation when we sit still in one position for a long time. It is a good idea not to eat fatty foods or processed foods before you take a long trip, so your blood is not as thick as sludge. Eat more citrus fruits like lemon, orange, grapefruit, and tangerine before you travel. Use sea salt and restrict your intake of salty foods which place greater demands upon your body to redistribute fluids in your body to restore balance. These are simple, but very effective things to do when you travel or sit around in one place for more than a few hours at a time.

Dr. Andrew Weil…wants to expand the horizons of medicine to include alternative practices and knowledge beyond his training in his clinical practice of Western Medicine. He realized that it was limited and incomplete, although useful when it comes to emergencies or trauma.
If I were in an accident, then I would be glad to be treated by a qualified and competent surgeon in the ER, but I am not going to create an accident in MY reality…thank you very much! When you learn to expand your horizons to your spiritual well-being; then you choose to experience what you wish every day with intention and empowerment. If you ignore this aspect of your healthy Lifestyle; then you must rely upon the expertise and knowledge of other practitioners like Weil and his entourage or people like Dr. Oz.
However, the limitations of Western Medicine become obvious when we have epidemics, problems with obesity, degenerative diseases, chronic health issues, and other maladies that do not respond to treatment with drugs or surgery. This is where Bio-Energetic Medicine and alternative modalities excel. We have people who heal others with the energy they direct with their hands or their minds. We have people who know plants, herbs, and foods that heal. We have people who use instruments and sophisticated technology to bring balance back to the body and the bio-energetic field. We have knowledge of EOs, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, sustainable agriculture, and many other Lifestyle methods that improve the human condition, heal the body, and offer balance for the Mind and the Spirit. This keeps us focused upon Wellness, instead of looking for disease.
I have respect for the physicians who continue to expand their horizons and integrate knowledge from all of the Healing Arts that makes them better when they educate themselves beyond their core training in medical school. Nutrition is one of those primary areas where there is little training and yet it is the most important emerging science for the health and well-being of human beings as well as animal science. The expertise of TCM, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, and Food Preparation requires more training and mentoring and most MDs fail to embrace this information with additional formal training. They may take seminars or read journals, but it is far better to work with real experts as a Team for patients who want true holistic care.
Many years ago, I was the Guest Speaker at the Canadian Holistic Health Association’s Annual Convention. I spoke about the value of the Team approach. I gave examples from The Center for Total Health in California where more than 50 practitioners worked in harmony and balance together for decades. It became a respected model for many holistic centers and wellness facilities.
When a patient presented with a need for chiropractic, blood work, nutritional guidance, social services, and bodywork; we would gather the appropriate members of our Team and work on the case collectively for the ultimate benefit of the patient. If the next patient would be served with acupuncture and iridology or colon cleansing in addition to the other methodologies; then we could add to the Team or adjust it accordingly. It’s a model that is timeless and effective.
Tempeh, miso, cultured foods, and other whole foods DO make a monumental difference in the health and care of patients and people who do not go to see practitioners. But you can pass on the Facon Bacon that was mentioned on the Dr. Oz show…it’s not that good.
Breath work is significant, but you really need to determine if you have the personality to benefit from meditative practices. The primary problem with deep breathing techniques is that you might live in a polluted city and you don’t want to be inhaling toxins, so you might want to consider alternatives or move to a rural area where the air is pure and then learn to practice your breath in a healthy environment.
Do not take Astragalus alone! In TCM, acupuncturists and herbalists do not give patients individual herbs, but use carefully selected formulas instead which are much more effective. This is one bad habit that medical minds make all the time. They try to use isolated substances like Adaptogens or nutrients the same way they use drugs. That doesn’t work! Don’t let any practitioner make that error with you. This is where the ancient knowledge excels above Western Medicine which is lagging behind by centuries…
You can get the Astragalus in herbal formulas from this company and find other Adaptogens. You may also want to explore more of the health products that have been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. These two websites offer standard formulas that are tried and true, proven over the centuries in the East and in many cases in the Western world.
Fresh fruit that causes a reaction when cooked fruit does not…is not a food allergy, guys. These professionals should have recognized that difference for the audience members that asked her question. It’s more than a matter of allergies or probiotics. She needs the knowledge of a practitioner who uses the EAV equipment to determine what foods she has a food sensitivity to or what combination is going to work for her. This again is another example of working as a Team for diagnostic and treatment choices for patients. What one professional knows or does not know can be balanced with the knowledge base of other practitioners. If you are the patient; then this is essential for you to understand.

Dr. Weil’s crew and cohorts are really helping people, but they still have miles to go before they impress me. Even that restaurant in Arizona needs a make-over to their menu to be in my good graces… Although these doctors are novices when it comes to holistic medicine, their hearts and souls are in the right place as they progress and learn more about what we’ve known for so long. We acknowledge your efforts!
Dr. Oz went on to talk about shingles and related it to the incidence of chicken pox as children. The virus retreats to the nerve and can be ignited into an acute stage with various triggers later in life. This is why people need to encourage the folks who have hidden the genuine Rife technology to bring it back to eliminate the viral agents among other pathogens that are dormant and then become acute over the course of a person’s lifespan. Vaccines are not the answer. In the meantime, use GSE or Essential Oils to eradicate these lingering viral agents and stop the pleomorphic process in its tracks.
Walgreen’s is not a way to stay well. The last time I checked, there was a pharmacy, cosmetics, and crappy food along with cheap products on those shelves. Maybe your town’s Walgreen’s is different than mine, but there are better places for you to shop for health products and wellness items.

There are too many retail stores and Western Medical doctors who are trying to get a share of the genuine Health and Wellness Industry when they are not really equipped to deliver the goods! They are in many ways imposters on their competitor’s turf. They are interlopers making a gallant attempt to appear to know what they are doing when they fall short.
The true wealth of health knowledge still lies with those people in the Healing Arts who have trained with the Masters of TCM, Ayurveda, and comparable traditions. Western Medical professionals have a long road ahead of them before they earn our respect. But there are those like Dr. Oz and Dr. Weil with his entourage who are continuing the journey. Seek them out in your community or region and work with a Team to improve your quality of health care while you learn to be your own Master.
