Dr. Oz and Longevity: Can You Extend Your Lifespan and Still Be Healthy at 120?

April 18th, 2011

Dr. Oz had an expert on today’s show who discussed the markers that could potentially extend your lifespan to more than 100 years of age.

Most of the people in the audience and that I know DO care about their Quality of Life in their later years. They don’t want to live longer unless they remain healthy and enjoy vitality.

The markers for extension of one’s Life were the obvious ones: not smoking, getting regular exercise, eating well, being in good relationships, having decent genetics, and more of the common denominators that are being studied by researchers in Longevity.

I was surprised that one cigarette would cost you five years. I can understand smoking a pack for years taking its toll on your years, but one cigarette? Wow!

I guess you’ll have to go to the alternative electronic cigarettes to be safe! We recently watched the movie, “The Tourist” where Johnnie Depp was smoking an e-cigarette and refused a normal smoke. I liked that. It’s good product positioning in a major flick!

I wish that the experts on Dr. Oz had made more of a big deal about healthy food choices. One bite of beef can be more damaging than one cigarette… One serving of organic dark leafy greens can do more than a bottle of supplements… When are the experts going to talk about the importance of pure water? Next year perhaps…

OK…Dr. Oz and his cohorts will have to adapt their medical methods to people who live longer, need medical intervention less often, and insist upon going to physicians who specialize in Longevity. That’s going to change the curriculum in all medical schools.

I was a little perplexed that the expert said that attitude had a minor effect upon one’s Longevity. I happen to know that ATTITUDE plays a pivotal role in people’s lives when it comes to Wellness and long life. In fact, it dictates how it all manifests over the course of your Lifetime. It is far more important than people have been led to believe on Dr. Oz. Trust me on this point…

Attitude is EVERYTHING!

Dr. Oz and Homeopathy, Arnica, BioPuncture, and Energy Medicine

April 17th, 2011

I had recorded an episode of Dr. Oz which talked about Homeopathy with Russ who attempted to explain how homeopathic remedies work to the doctor. While Dr. Oz states that he recognizes that Energy Medicine is the most promising and the emerging trend in health care; he clearly doesn’t understand what exactly Energy Medicine really is… Eventually?

Homeopathy is an ideal example of Energy Medicine. It is proven to most of the world’s satisfaction and Western Medicine is simply behind the times when it comes to giving recognition where it is due to Homeopathy. Ego drives this situation, so it’s not all that surprising.

Homeopathy uses the principle of ‘like cures like’. When you introduce your body to a specific frequency of a substance by providing a homeopathic remedy orally or through injection or through an instrument like the Mora; then the immune system and the bio-energetic field of the human body will recognize the vibration of the substance and respond to it. You do not have to use a large amount to get the body’s attention. The body is more intelligent that all of the researchers and doctors who need several dosages a day for years in clinical studies and in their private practices to see results or not… Pity.

Homeopathy is a proven science and is practiced in many countries with great success. Most doctors in America are far too lazy and preoccupied to spend enough time learning enough about Homeopathy to fully understand and appreciate it for what it is and what it does for millions of people. It works.

Although Dr. Oz admitted his ignorance, he did mention that his wife uses Arnica for pain, bruises, and aches for her family along with nux vomica for an upset stomach. These are very common homeopathy remedies. Russ mentioned a commercial remedy that is commonly used for flus and colds. We have used nosodes and remedies in our private practice for decades with excellent success. It’s worthy of your attention and application for the function of various organs and systems.

Homeopathics uses subtle energy information to communicate with the body. The body understands this and is responsive. Doctors usually have a blank look in their eyes when we talk about bio-energetic fields. Hopefully, that will change.

BioPuncture is a combination of using recognized and known acupuncture points along with injections to initiate a response in the body. I have only a limited experience with this modality. We used to experiment with German substances and injections for reversing the aging process. But that’s a story for another day. We did find it effective.

All in all, you really have to work with someone who knows how to use the EAV equipment to determine how well any substance will work for you. It varies for each individual and that’s the beauty of it. You are unique. Everything else is ‘practicing’ medicine, instead of applying the Healing Arts through knowledge and evaluation. Enough said…for now.

Of all the things that you can do, you can ensure that you have the best ENERGY possible from whole foods and superfoods. Love Street Living Foods has a special deal right now for you. Go there and begin your journey of learning more about the energy of foods, homeopathic remedies, and herbs.

Dr. Oz and Five Healthy Alternatives to Cow’s Milk and Dairy Products

April 16th, 2011

Dr. Oz finally got around to sharing some healthy alternatives to cow’s milk with his audience. While the expert guest was not quite the expert that I was hoping to see explain the health benefits of milk alternatives, she did make a few good points about the Hemp Milk.

The first healthy milk was coconut milk. This is one of my personal favorites to use in granola, whole grain dishes, baking, sauces, and even Smoothies. A coconut milk Smoothie with grated coconut, pineapple, and blue agave syrup is better than any pina colada with alcohol. You can blend berries or bananas very nicely with coconut milk, especially if you are still eating cereals or preparing fresh fruit desserts.

I had to laugh at the guest of Dr. Oz who did not like the taste of the plain coconut milk at first, but then changed her mind and began to take some more sips from her glass when Dr. Oz said that coconut milk will help you lose weight. She changed her tune with that information! Not only will you find that it supports fatty metabolism, it also contributes to better skin, hair, and nails among other health benefits.

If you need to sweeten or flavor the coconut milk more than it is out of the container; then use honey, maple syrup, blue agave syrup, rice syrup, date sugar, stevia, or pure organic cane sugar. A little teaspoon of organic vanilla extract will work wonders for the flavor of coconut milk and all of the alternative healthy nut and seed milks. You can use orange extract or almond extract, too. You can even use the zest of any citrus fruit when preparing dishes for that extra added pizzazz!

The second milk that Dr. Oz introduced to his audience was almond milk. While I prefer to make my own, you can purchase Silk almond milk at most grocery stores now. The vanilla or the original is excellent. Almond milk goes well with cereals and granola as well as other whole grains. It is not naturally sweet, so if you expect sweetness, you need to add a natural sweetener. It’s best to buy organic almond milk to ensure that it’s healthy, since trees are sprayed by some growers. Almond milk is only one of many nut milks. You can make cashew milk and many other nut milks which are creamy, but you might want to strain them before using them.

The third healthy milk option to cow’s or goat’s milk that Dr. Oz discussed was hemp milk. Yes, it is a distant cousin of the sativa that is commonly referred to as marijuana, but you won’t get high drinking hemp milk. It is nutritious and delicious as long as you buy from an organic producer. Hemp milk is not readily available, but if you request it, your favorite store can order it for you. I want you to know that there’s a new beverage made from Hemp called Hemphoria from ForeverGreen’s new company Versativa.

Versativa Hemphoria

Impact Nutritionals Versativa Information and Ordering Flyer

Hemphoria will be more palatable than most nutritious beverages made from the hemp nut. It is high in protein and contains many trace minerals in addition to EFAs. Please don’t overlook the Hemp Pulse that is a perfect accompaniment to hemp milk or any of our alternative healthy milks for breakfast or for snacks. You can make a lot of good recipes using Hemp Pulse like you would any granola or crumble. It tastes great on a fruit tart, inside a crepe, or on top of a fruit compote. It’s even a good topper on ice cream or yogurt. It’s available from the same company that produces Hemphoria.

Dr. Oz steered clear of both soy milk and rice milk, but you should guide yourselves toward both of these shore things… I adore my vanilla rice milk and although it is thin, instead of creamy; it’s suit my needs and requirements for a completely satisfactory substitute for cow’s milk or goat’s milk. I use rice milk in my Smoothies and in my cooking. If you have ever wanted to experiment with a delicious rice pudding made from organic brown rice; then use organic rice milk and maple syrup with organic raisins for a blissful eating experience.

Soy milk gets a bad rap from the doctors, but it is a healthy and reasonable alternative to dairy as long as you buy the organic brands made from the whole soybean. You don’t want to consume any soy isolate. Soy milk can be made at home and there is equipment that has been used for centuries and updated for our culture that is used to make it. You can make your own tofu, too. Soy milk is great when sweetened with organic cane sugar and flavored with vanilla extract. You can add chocolate or cocoa powder and make chocolate milk that is absolutely fantastic! Soy milk is easy to cook with and is delightful in Smoothies.

Just remember to shop for these healthy milks in your local health food store or Coop or at a Whole Foods Market, if you don’t order from our business associates online. The organic and natural brands taste MUCH better and you’ll know that the nutritional aspects of these milks has been attended to by the manufacturer. We have asked for these and got them, because we, the smart consumers, drive the market for healthy alternatives. You’ll never have to resort to drinking cow’s milk again unless you own the farm and name the cow.

One other healthy milk substitute that we must mention to do justice to this topic is Amasake. Grainassance makes the best Amazake that you will ever taste unless you make your own in your kitchen. I prefer the Almond Amazake, but the Chocolate Almond is also delicious. If you buy it frozen and let it get soft on your counter, there will be a point in time when it has a shake consistency which will astound you and you will fall in LOVE with Amasake. Spelled either way, it’s a treat that you will add to your favorite beverage List…

When it comes to other dairy products, we suggest that you steer clear of them unless you tolerate dairy well and are not lactose-intolerant for cheese, yogurt, sour cream, and cream cheese. The aged artisan cheeses lose a portion of their lactose as they age. There are healthy and tasty alternatives made from soy, almonds, and other whole foods that are great. You will find these at health food stores. There are far too many alternatives to risk consuming dairy products now. Be well…

Dr. Oz and the Risks of Radiation that Leads to Thyroid Cancer from Dental X-Rays and Mammograms

April 14th, 2011

I could go on and on about the disclaimers and the ways that the experts dismissed the dangers of radiation from mammograms and dental x-rays to the thyroid gland, but you already expect them to protest the concerns of patients and other doctors like Doctor Oz about the risk of developing cancer when they give unnecessary tests.

I am not going to tell you about the details regarding their defensive positioning, but they stood their ground…acting as if your percentage of risk was NOT a big deal. CANCER is a BIG DEAL. It’s not their bodies that they are not worried about, they are not getting these dangerous procedures. They are two men who don’t have to live in a woman’s body that has been irradiated and then invaded by cancer.

I detest these types of doctors. I won’t apologize for the disgust that I feel for their lack of sensitivity and irresponsible opinion on this topic. They only talk, they don’t operate the machines or get the doses of radiation. They don’t value the ‘quality of Life’ issue.

ALL exposure to radiation is dangerous and worth taking the time to eliminate or reduce for YOU. It’s your body and in the end, regardless of any doctor’s opinion or stance, you have to protect your body. It’s just the way it is. If I were you, I would refuse to undergo any unnecessary procedure. Unless you really feel that you have cancer or are in danger, just get a general evaluation and wait for x-rays or mammograms. That’s my opinion and you don’t even have to listen to me!

Your time and effort is better spent working to maintain the health of your breasts and teeth, rather than risking radiation damage from your doctors. That is the best direction that I could suggest for anyone…to think more about wellness than disease. It’s a mindset.

I have personally never had a mammogram, nor would I ever subject my breasts to that procedure. I have rarely ever needed dental x-rays. I take great comfort in knowing that the money that I spend and the effort that I make to keep my body healthier and stronger is worth ten times more than any procedure that is looking for disease. All doctors know is how to screen for disease, that’s their specialty and that’s their limited approach. But with EAV equipment, I can do so much more. That’ my story and I’m sticking with it.

If you do decide to get irradiated, then at least eat seaweed for one month before and after the procedure. You can take extra minerals, whole foods, and herbs that will help reduce the damage done from the radiation. We’ve talked about many of the ways to do this in previous posts. Do a Search…

If I were you, I would wear the CieAura Chips, eat my sea vegetables, drink my miso soup, and eat cruciferous vegetables along with my herbal formulations and Viva-Natural. I would throw away the cell phone, refuse to use the electrical gadgets, and live in an area that is wild and free from EM fields that damage the human body. But you are ultimately the only one who can be responsible for your own body!

Be Well and be ‘radiation-free’…

The View and Jamie Oliver: Food as Fashionable Discussion

April 13th, 2011

The ladies of The View seem to have an opinion about everyone and everything that they feel compelled to share with you five days a week.

Today they commented on Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Jamie was forced to take the issues to the streets of Los Angeles when he was denied his permit to enter the school system to introduce the children and the food prep people to healthier food selections for students.

When Jamie Oliver picks a fight, he does it with passion and enthusiasm and a little humor! When you have to pour an adulterated white powder over a school bus, it kind of drives the point home.

I have only used words and my EAV equipment to make my points for parents, children, and educators. Jamie does so much more to dress up the issues with greater relevance and attempt to get enough attention to sway the opinions of parents and children to change the way they are eating in the school system and at home. This has to happen to restore health to this generation!

I would encourage you to watch the series of the Food Revolution weekly and join us in the fight to replace unhealthy food with healthy choices for our kids.

It’s never too late. It’s never too funny. It’s never too challenging to care about the next generation.

Food is fashionable now. It’s fashionable enough for the ladies of The View to spend a few minutes debating chocolate milk in schools and whether or not the government should have a say about the quality of foods we feed our children in public schools.

Well, if taxpayers are parents or have to foot the bill for health care; then the government has the right to determine how taxpayer’s money is being spent. If we continue to feed our children unhealthy food and they develop degenerative diseases and cannot think clearly in school or at a job; then why would we want to pay for the health care for the failure to intervene and change this horrific situation. Most of the slop in school cafeterias in unfit for human consumption…

Get over it, Steven Zimmer! Get a grip and change your school policies for the next generation’s health. Every morsel of food, every sip of a beverage, and every attitude toward our food matters…

Who else is brave enough to bring these issues to the attention of parents and children and educators? Jamie Oliver is one of the ‘good guys’. Would Whoopi take the time to offer up some healthy advice for young people? Elizabeth does actually care deeply. Joy is going to try to find a laugh at anyone’s expense. I have no idea about Sheri who only seemed to have a strong opinion about pink nail polish today.

TheDoctorsTV and the Color Red: Red Wine, Red Blood, Red Hot Sex, and Red Reasons for Taking Care of Your Health

April 11th, 2011

The doctors saw RED on today’s show. They talked about ‘all things Red’ and made some jokes intertwined with some serious topics of color.

Dr. Lisa told the audience about donating blood and that was her favorite color red raison d’etre. Dr. Jim rolled up his sleeve, grabbed the red ball, looked the other direction, and showed how relatively painless it is to donate blood – two cups at a time. You were encouraged to dontate to the Red Cross for relief in Japan and other countries, including our own.

Dr. Travis likes red when it comes to certain foods that keep you out of his ER. Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, red apples, tomatoes, red bell peppers, and beets were offered as examples of foods that will contribute to the health of your heart and many other parts of your body thanks to the demo by Dr. Jim. While Dr. Travis has never enjoyed properly prepared beets, he didn’t seem to mind the other red foods that were being touted by the docs for happy and colorful bodies.

The best discussion of the color was about Red Wine. If you want the highest quantity of Resveratrol, then Pinot Noir is your red wine of choice. I personally prefer Cabernet and Merlot, but all the Red Wine you drink should be organic and free of additives. While I would not restrict women to one glass of Red Wine a day, it does matter that you drink the highest quality of wine, even if you enjoy the entire bottle once uncorked which is my personal style. I like my Red Wine with goat cheese, olives, and a little puff of tobacco in a pipe with the Ram.

If you are going to engage in a little Light Therapy, then you might do better to get the full spectrum of light, not only red. Although, if you have imbalances in your reproductive system, sexual performance, endocrine system, digestion, or cardio-vascular system; then some Red Light may support those systems and help to return them to a state of Balance and health.

Dr. Drew is a universal donor having an O Blood Type. All of the doctors shared their thoughts about the value of knowing your blood type. There are statistically relevant health issues that are prevalent in different racial groups and blood types do contribute to this in many ways. The most important thing about red blood that the doctors emitted was the need to nourish the blood with whole foods and herbs to maintain Wellness and vitality. Xue = Blood = Life

While all the doctors thought that they were doing you a favor by telling you the medical reasons why you get a red eye when you take a flack picture of someone; they forgot to mention that Chrysanthemum Tea keeps your eyes healthy and MSM drops will take care of red eyes when they are irritated or inflammation has caused blood vessels to swell. If you are going to continue to ‘see RED or know which shade of Red to use when you go out to paint the town with Dr. Lisa; then you will want to keep your eyes strong and healthy.

The Tea Farm carries Chrysanthemum Tea and it’s great with a squeeze of lemon or an ounce of pomegranate juice…the red liquid that offers as much nutrition as the juice referred to as Tiger Blood. Charlie Sheen, eat your heart out when you guzzle down a smoothie made with fresh red fruits and Goji Berries. If WINNING is the way you want to go; then berries are worth more than two and a half men.

Another Nifty Little Superfood: BenVia Makes Smooth Moves

April 10th, 2011

BenVia Gold from NorthStar

BenVia Gold is the brand name of Salvia L which is a whole food that was prized by the Aztecs and has recently been evaluated by modern science for its nutritional value.

It has been indicated in helping with balancing blood sugar and providing benefits for the heart, circulatory system, and digestive system.

You can watch the video to learn more from the fellow who knows more than I do about this little grain.

The terminology and the pitch on the video sounds more like hype, but then again, there is enough pertinent information presented that it should not escape your attention.

The BenVia is grown in Bolivia. It appears to be cultivated and harvested properly and NorthStar is the only supplier.

The Ordering Information is at the end of the video and you can order one bottle or up to six bottles with a good discount and a guarantee for your satisfaction.

I thought it might be a good source of magnesium, protein, and 30 basic nutrients for all of you.

Apparently, you can cook with this or add it to your smoothies or yogurt or blend it into baked goods. There is a recipe book that is included with your order from the company that is marketing this brand.

I have no direct experience with this whole food, but I listened to the information and thought it worthy enough to share it with you today.

Let me know what you think of BenVia?
