TheDoctorsTV enjoyed a guest author, Lisa Bloom, who has written a new book, “Think”. She explores whether and why men prefer women with brains or women who are beautiful. What a loaded debate!
There are all kinds of men. The smart men that smart women would be attracted to would be those who truly value intelligence. These are the kinds of men we like to have long conversations with before we have incredible sex! Then we marry them when they demonstrate that they are practical, considerate, thoughtful, and as smart as we are…
Then there are those boys who will never be real men. They are the ones who value beauty over brains. They are turned on, tuned out, and have little to offer except a roll in the hay or being paraded around as a trophy wife. Big Whoop…
You can see what side of the fence I stand upon! I am all for brains. And if you really want my opinion, you can enjoy both simultaneously. One trait does not preclude the other…
Many women are both beautiful and bright. It’s the winning combination. But still, if I had to choose one or the other, my money is on intelligence.
In the long-lasting relationship, a solid and fulfilling foundation of partnership, companionship, and satisfaction is built upon thoughtful interaction. That takes a little brain power. Women appreciate a man who is attentive, a man who can carry on a meaningful conversation, and a man who can co-create a Life together. High standards are in demand for women with brains…
Now, there are going to be women who want to play and will look for men who are seeking a relationship based upon mutual physical attraction. We can thank hormones for that!
Of, course, there are much more complicated and intricate relationship issues, but that is discussed in Bloom’s book and with those capable of having such a deep and reflective exchange of Thoughts.

You would be running along the beach and jumping for joy, too; if you knew how strong and healthy you would feel when you eat more gluten-free foods!
Maybe you don’t have any sensitivity to foods that contain gluten, but you can certainly enjoy these delicious and nutritious foods anyway. They may actually taste better than most of your other processed and packaged foods that come from your local grocery store.
Recently, Elisabeth Hasselbeck appeared on the Rachael Ray show to talk about travel snacks for her children. She is doing very well with her gluten-free Life and her book on the subject.
We’ve talked about this before and we’ll talk about it again, but it remains to be seen just how more people can find an easy way to have access to healthy gluten-free foods and snacks.
It’s a challenge when you travel to find healthy food, let alone gluten-free items. Your best bet is to take your supplies with you, so you don’t compromise your health when no one carries anything you can eat. Elisabeth had a neat travel bag with several compartments where she could stash the snacks for herself and her kids while on the plane, in the car, or anywhere in public. That’s a handy thing to have while you travel away from home…even for the day!
The View often has chefs and cooks come on stage and show the audience different types of food. Elisabeth has had a little exposure, but people like Barbara and Whoopi need another ten times of seeing and tasting healthy food. If Rocco DiSpirito can schedule a segment on Doctor Oz and TheDoctorsTV; then he should certainly be welcomed on The View. His black bean brownies are delightful. More and more people who care about the quality of the food that they eat and that they are feeding their children are appearing on television shows… The more, the better!
Recently on PBS, I watched a show that brought on a woman who has written a book with gluten-free recipes and has a website that is being revised at “Savory Palate”. She talked about the ways to prepare whole grains and discussed the advances in sorghum which makes it a more inviting choice for those who are seeking gluten-free alternatives to wheat.

Like Rocco, she uses black beans to make sweet treats in addition to savory dishes. You’ll find a recipe for Cupcakes on her blog which includes black beans. She made a point of telling the host that her family likes what she cooks even though they are not sensitive to gluten. Her food tastes good…they eat it for THAT reason.
Whatever the reasons why you would consider including gluten-free foods in your dietary regimen might be, whether for health or taste; make it a preference you can live with and know you’ll be combing the beach and jumping for joy in your own way!

I had my own good laugh when earlier this week I actually had a dream with Dr. Travis Stork in attendance at a formal function to honor my Life’s Work with my colleagues and friends. He was not dressed in his scrubs, but he was polite and attentive as I spoke with him briefly about giving his audience more information about a healthy Lifestyle and acknowledging his dedication to his profession.
When I woke up, I noted the content of my dream and put it into perspective with the rest of the dream as I spoke with several of the attendees. What did surprise me, yet pleased me, was that the next day I tuned in to watch TheDoctorsTV show which was a repeat episode. During the show, Dr. Travis spoke about Dreams. He interviewed a woman who has written a book about the value of dreams which convey health information.
I have personally experienced this myself on numerous occasions and have had many patients who have shared their dreams with me which were pertinent when we found relationships during their evaluations that related to their health issues. All things considered, when you pay attention to your dream images and content, you may be given vital information from your Subconscious Mind which will help you immensely.
Your Subconscious Mind seeks a method for communicating relevant information with your Conscious Awareness. Dreams are an excellent bridge between waking and sleeping states of Consciousness. All that is required to benefit directly from this avenue of communication is to be equipped to interpret the images and content of your dreams. Once you learn your own dream language, you will open the revolving and evolving door that hold all the secrets.
When you keep a Dream Journal, you will begin to learn your very own dream language and develop a dictionary of imagery and meaning. Your images are going to be relevant to your own personal experiences and your own worldview. There are also some universal symbols which touch upon the realm that Jung talked about as archetypes that all human beings can draw from regardless of culture or upbringing.
The evolution of your own dreamstate is to become a lucid dreamer who becomes conscious and aware within the dream. While you are working on this level of mastery, you can keep track of your dreams with a Dream Journal and correlate the symbolic references to your daily Life. You will find relationships between your health and your dreams when you look for this information. Use it, benefit from it, and be glad that you can be your own physician!

My son gave me the name he wanted to be called when I was eight months pregnant in a dream. I woke up and wrote the name down in my Dream Journal. I have had many such dreams that conveyed important information about myself, my family, and my patients or people in my Life. Often I would dream my future and watch it unfold before my eyes years later. Your dreams are one of your most valuable resources for Well-Being.
Now…I am dreaming my next day as evidenced with Dr. Travis appearing in my dream and then watching this show the next day with a segment about the power of dreams! You, too, can develop this in your own Life. This can be enhanced by keeping your own Dream Journal as a vital part of your Wellness Program for your healthy Lifestyle.

If this episode with Dr. Oz describing his second Colonoscopy and his failure to follow protocol for the Prep properly could make an impression upon the audience to do things differently; then it will be worth watching. Dr. Oz was a ‘bad’ patient and did NOT follow instructions.
Dr. Oz ate lentils and rice just before he drank his colon cleansing drink. That’s made it difficult for his doctor to see if there were more polyps on the colon wall. He also made the mistake of waiting nine months, instead of three months before his follow-up second appointment. Dr. Oz begged you not to model his behavior, if you value your outcome.
He thought that the medical rules did not apply to him. He admits that he was wrong and compromised his procedure to a degree. His old friend and doctor, Dr. Jonathan LaPook, scolded him, but told him the truth. I don’t think that Dr. Oz will make the mistakes for the third time, but that remains to be seen in another three months for his follow-up.
He discussed the importance of screening and shared his attitude of not wanting to lose control that led to his choices. It might have been a poor excuse, because what is really behind his decision is more about him fearing what might be found in only three months and he wanted more time to turn his digestive system condition around before taking the second Colonoscopy…in my opinion.
Three months is not a lot of time to change the structure of the lining of the colon. It can take more time to change the tissue back to health polyp-free status. Dr. Oz shared his idea for an Anti-Cancer Diet, but it was horribly insufficient…in my opinion.
You cannot just eat four food groups and think that you are doing enough to prevent cancer. That’s the worst advice that Dr. Oz has ever given, next to Botox… These four food groups are certainly important, but there are many more food groups that one should not ignore when it comes to eating a diet that keeps cancer at bay.
Dr. Oz offered his advice for people to eat blueberries; cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and bok choy; spinach; and tomatoes. That’s NOT enough… Don’t be fooled into thinking that only these foods will do the trick or you may be blaming Dr. Oz for insufficient information on your next doctor’s visit.
We’ve talked endlessly about sea vegetables like kombu, wakame, nori, hiziki, kelp, and other seaweeds. We’ve discussed the essential role that organic whole grains, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices play in maintaining one’s health and well-being. We’ve mentioned the significance of organic fruits and vegetables, dark leafy greens, and Raw Foods mixed with Macrobiotic foods like miso soup, fermented foods, and freshly-juiced Smoothies. Neither can you ignore the importance of root vegetables, healthy oils, and natural beverages when you talk about a diet that is going to give you the edge!

A few days ago, Dr. Oz even pointed out that he could tell whether one of his patients lived in the city or in the country by looking at the quality of the tissue of the lungs. Environmental factors play an extremely significant role in the prevention of cancer…as do the use of cell phones, processed foods, artificial ingredients, EMF fields from appliances like TVs and computers, contaminants in the water supply, and other toxins that people are exposed to daily. Every choice and decision you make determines whether or not you will live a healthy Lifestyle or subject your body to cancer or other degenerative diseases!
If this episode of Dr. Oz can offer you any lesson, please let it be that you realize that you can’t skip the most minute details and think that you are doing enough to prevent cancer. This should encourage you to discipline yourself and never look back with a pledge of never compromising your body, your mind, or your quality of Life. How much do you love your Life? This is not about embarrassment, this is about living well!

Even Rocco DiSpirito showed people how to make a healthier BBQ sauce and prevent the char from affecting baby back ribs on the Grill from contributing to poor health. But…Rocco should have made the point that you should be using organic ketchup and spices like paprika, garlic, and onion when building a barbeque sauce from scratch. The Red Wine Vinegar and all ingredients need to be natural and organic. Go Organic or step away from the Grill! It was good that Dr. Oz gave away the Grill, but why didn’t he tell people to roast their vegetables and meats or use other healthy techniques for food preparation! He had a teaching moment and missed it…
If you are going to grill meat, then at least purchase grass-fed free ranging beef and other meats. Use the ‘low and slow’ method of grilling and be sure that you eat foods that counter balance the effects of grilling any food during any meal or for the next meal or snack! Every action matters… Dr. Oz learned the hard way that you can’t escape responsibility for every morsel of food that goes into your body and that your body will show it to you when you cheat or compromise your health.
The segment on Sleep was too brief, but the sleep tapes and headset was a good start for giving people solutions to help them get a better night’s rest. When you plug anything into your brain while you are laying down to sleep, you run the risk of subjecting the delicate tissue of your brain to EM Fields that can alter the DNA and the brain wave activity. Some wave forms are desirable and some are not… You can just as easily put the equipment at a further and safer distance to play subliminal audio tapes during the night to help you sleep more soundly. You can eliminate all light and all distractions. The quality of your mattress matters… There are a dozen other ways to improve the quality and duration of your sleep. It’s going to take more than a vacation to Mexico to relax enough to reduce the Stress that keeps you up at night!
First, try these three things and see if you need more support. If nothing else, drink a cup of organic Chamomile Tea or use the Essential Oils of Blue Chamomile in the evening. Dr. Oz brought his wife, Lisa Oz, and her new book into the discussion with a number of different topics today on the Dr. Oz show.
Lisa Oz wrote a book about Relationships. She treated relationships like recipes which needed food and nutritional support to flourish. Her Vitamins A, B, and C corresponded to A for Appreciation, B for Being Present, and C for one’s willingness to Change and adapt to Change in one’s partner.
She also talked about toxic relationships and Dr. Oz, the good husband, admitted that his biggest challenge was the need to control her and his family. The Need for Control, the Need to Be Right, and the Need to Blame and Judge were the toxic attitudes that destroy a relationship. Lisa suggested that if you get rid of that JUNK, then you can build a healthier relationship and be healthier yourself. Her insight was refreshingly clear and concise.
The little Ball exercise is an example of what many of us who have been trained in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy use to get people to learn to identify their feelings, belief systems, and issues within a relationship. You don’t have to use a big Ball…when a peace pipe or a stone or any precious object of your choosing will suffice while you pass it back and forth to the other to discuss the various aspects of your relationship that you both want to vocalize and bring to bear in the present. It is a good tool…

Doctor Oz and Lisa Oz and the No Embarrassment Zone
The segment about Vitamin C shows why we don’t want to get our nutritional advice from doctors. The least amount of Vitamin C that a woman of any age should get daily is far more than 75 milligrams. My Word, that’s the low end of the low that is barely going to give the human body in our society enough of this vital nutrient to survive, let alone thrive! The human body is able to utilize at least 60 milligrams of Vitamin C every hour, so don’t hesitate to supply an adequate quantity through organic citrus fruits, vegetable, and other sources throughout the day. It is water soluble and so the body needs it presented throughout the day to have sufficient quantities to maintain one’s health. This is the primary reason why we were all formulating time-release Vitamin C supplements in the 1970s.

Dr. Oz suggested that he had a cure, but when she came out from behind the curtain to find out what it might be; he gave her a weak solution. Her hubby needs to be tested for food sensitivities along wit her, so they can identify the cause for her reaction, instead of trying to push her Immune System to adapt. If she hasn’t adapted in six years, then this is not the direction she should be taking. She and her hubby need an evaluation with the EAV equipment to be certain and to provide her with a real solution that works without compromising her any longer. She’s endured six years of discomfort…enough is enough!

If there is one thing that you will learn when you watch Doctor Oz; it’s that a doctor expects to see patients develop diseases.
Today, Dr. Oz gave his audience some Warning Signs of symptoms to watch out for which would indicate that you might have cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. He has a knack for putting the fear of death into his audiences!
I will tell you a thousand times that a healthy Lifestyle is worth much more to you than giving away your Power to a physician who is expecting you to develop a life-threatening disease.
Doctors have a nasty habit of holding a worldview that is focused on disease instead of Wellness. While that is their area of training and expertise to treat disease, it is not your primary health management approach when you truly value optimal Health and Wellness as an individual. There’s a vast difference between seeing patients for finding diseases and seeing people who want to live a long and healthy Life. I prefer the latter! Do you?
While it is important to diagnose a disease, if you exhibit symptoms and seek a doctor’s care; it is pertinent for you to devote your attention and energy toward living a healthy and vibrant Life. Every Thought matters…
We’ve talked about adopting a Raw Foods diet to prevent or reverse diabetes. We’ve talked about a whole foods plant-based diet for preventing any degenerative condition which includes the development of a disease that can be named through a combination of symptoms. This applies to cancer and to heart disease.
All that most doctors have to begin the process of deducing what is ‘wrong’ with you when you come into their office starts with a set of symptoms. They have their lab tests, but it would be ideal if more doctors had their own EAV equipment to do a thorough evaluation for each individual. You would get better care. But you have to settle for less when doctors are limited in their ability to make these determinations. This is why it’s of vital importance to find your perfect doctor.
Symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, frequent urination, and others that Dr. Oz mentioned today can be related to the major diseases that women die from daily. But then, it just might be due to other causes. It’s the detective work that people pay for… Just take it one step at a time and remove fear from the equation. Fear causes more stress and alters the metabolic balance of your body as much as anything…
It almost disturbed me when Dr. Oz pushed for fear of having a heart attack within one month’s time when he talked to his first audience guest. Instilling fear is not the solution! It’s not the best bedside manner… Don’t succumb to a doctor’s need to instill fear in you!
It’s one thing to want to know what is going on in your body, but to add fear to the mix is not fair. It exacerbates your condition unnecessarily. Bad doctors… You can remind them that hope and knowledge are more powerful and productive than fear and worry!
Dr. Oz suggested that people use Pine Bark. I have found that the VitaSpray Pine Bark supplement is better absorbed than a tablet or capsule. This product can be found online, but if you have difficulty, let me know and I’ll give you a referral.

As Dr. Oz indicated today, many people are taking their heart medication in the morning which is now contra-indicated. This wouldn’t happen with proper EAV testing.

So instead of embracing the doctor’s thought of finding disease everywhere they look, choose Wellness and a healthy Lifestyle first and foremost for your personal experience.

Dr. Oz had a mixed bag today. I was profoundly stunned to learn that the addiction to Pain Killer drugs was this serious. I did not know that there are now more deaths due to the abuse of Pain Killers than deaths from car accidents in many states across the land. This is ridiculous!
The DEA agent explained the severity and the extent of this horrific situation. I had no idea that it had become such a huge problem. The numbers are staggering. Pain is now a KILLER…
Pain medication sold illicitly is also big business and it appears that there are many Pain Clinics hidden in plain sight in malls and on city streets that dole out the drugs of choice, but don’t really provide adequate medical care for the management of pain. The expert called them: Pill Mills.
It looks like it is even affecting pastor’s wives and normal people who have not found a medical solution to their agonizing pain. Pain management is sorely lacking among Western Medical Practitioners and that’s one of the reasons for this enormous health issue that has become a criminal issue. People are popping pain pills for a high price and selling them illegally for the high profit margins on the black market. Even people who use pain medication from other people’s prescriptions are addicted to pain pills and have not sought lasting help. This is tragic!
The doctor and his experts laid out the primary problems and feel that it’s up to both doctors, law enforcement, and individuals to resolve this problem.
People will do almost anything to alleviate the pain. They wouldn’t even recognize the lengths to which they are willing to go to in order to stop the pain. So what can you do?
You can have a frank conversation with your medical professional. The two of you should design an effective Pain Management Plan and work on it weekly until it is completely resolved with a healthy outcome.
If you are addicted to Pain medication, then you should wean yourself and seek other solutions. There are natural and safe solutions for you in most cases.

Dr. Oz suggested Peppermint and two other remedies, but we feel that Honey Loquat Syrup is much more effective. Fenugreek Seed Tea is also more effective than the doctor’s recommendation. You also have to quit eating so much bread, cereal, cheese, dairy products, and processed foods.
I had to giggle when Dr. Oz did his Pantry segment. Cereal is NOT the ideal food to buy in bulk and put into your pantry. Brown Rice is much better. I don’t really think that Dr. Oz understands what it means to buy in bulk. He had several bottles of small bottles of ketchup, a bunch of cans of tuna, and missed the primary point of the Pantry. While it’s true that canned tuna will last and is a good buy when there is a discount on the small cans at your local store; the general idea of a pantry is to have food that you use daily in large bulk quantities that saves you money. It’s not a matter of buying a bunch of small cans and bottles of anything unless you are going to barter with them for other food items in an emergency or natural disaster.
Bulk purchases of nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes, beans, dried fruit, and other dry food items is intended to not only save money, but to cut down on waste with packaging, transportation costs, and environmental factors that drive up the price of grocery items. We buy in bulk for better reasons, but there’s nothing wrong with having diversity in your Pantry.
It’s ideal to go to the Bulk Foods area of your local Whole Foods Markets or your local Food Co-op and learn how to buy properly, store properly, and turn over your pantry items regularly.
This is the time to buy in Bulk to ensure that you have food as prices skyrocket, shortages occur, and scarcity prevails when crops fail due to Climate Change and Extreme Weather. When you buy in Bulk, you may be eating when other people are wondering how they will fill their bellies on crumbs…

Dr. Oz was a mixed bag today. While other shows gave only repeat episodes, at least the audience got something for Memorial Day that might prove to be beneficial for your health.
First, Dr. Oz had experts give the audience ten alternative solutions for ten major health issues. At least he is bringing the Acupuncturists on to his show which will do more to educate his audience than any other specialty area of Holistic Medicine. She showed a few techniques for acupuncture facials, the scraping technique to call the Chi on the back, and a massage technique for digestion. It was basic, but good information with the pertinent demonstrations.
I think it to be disingenuous of Dr. Oz to watch a professional Acupuncturist insert the needles with absolutely no sign of pain or discomfort on the part of the patient and then have the audacity to ask the patient if she felt any pain! It was OBVIOUS that the woman felt NO PAIN. It seems that Dr. Oz doesn’t have a clue about the techniques of needle insertion. He needs a primer lesson, so he doesn’t embarrass himself on future shows…
The nutritional advice was alright, but nothing exceptional. I was rather disturbed that Dr. Oz would compare drinks by ‘calories’ instead of nutrition and true health value. Beer is NOT as healthy for you as a Red Wine. Apple Juice that is organic and freshly-juiced is just as healthy as freshly-juiced tomato juice. Any juice that has been processed is suspect… Do your own juicing, people!

Dr. Oz hasn’t put today’s details on his website yet, but I will update this post when he does. There were a few nutritional supplements that you need to know more about than what he had to say. All in all, the atmosphere of today’s episode was MUCH more like a GAME SHOW than an educational and informative show. Dr. Oz tried to create competition among friends when they agreed upon all three questions about cheese, walking, and juice when Oz wanted a winner so he could give away the sponsor’s toys. The gravy strainer is a good kitchen tool and I rather liked the fitbit.
I thought that dressing up the giggler in an E Pylori green suit was silly and he could have devised a better method of showing the bacterial infection that only recently was found by the medical establishment to be the causal pathogen in most ulcers and damage to tissue in the stomach. The choices for treating this infection were limited and I would rather take GSE than do anything that Oz suggested. If you need to soothe the tissue of the stomach after you deal with the infection, then aloe vera gel and myrrh are both indicated and effective. You can also drink some kudzu root pudding and use a product like Nopalea to reduce any inflammation.
Do people really learn that much during a Game Show mentality? I lose interest within seconds… At least the audience got the goodies, even though the contestants couldn’t spin the wheel to get a YES. I hope that the production team goes back to informative and educational tools that aren’t so silly and laughable. Let’s take the value of education a little more seriously for at least the better portion of the hour. Sure it was worth a moment’s laugh when Dr. Oz dropped his trousers and got in the ice bath. But so did Dr. Travis Stork…and with a lot more fanfare!
Go back to the information about acupuncture and massage; then you’ll have a show worth watching for the entire hour that is memorable and purposeful! Really…the balls and the green suit just didn’t cut it today!

I know it’s happened to me too many times to count. I have the best of intentions when I buy my fresh produce and bring it home and put it in the fridge.

I do adore the young people who make it to the top ten on American Idol and I often follow what they do, even when they get voted off one by one until there is but one single talented individual who gets the contract. These young people go on to have nice careers and make many appearances on TV.
I watched Rachael Ray and her Rival Ray challenge with three of the American Idol contestants. Stefano, Pia, and Paul were given a chance to prepare a dish and be judged by people who share the same name as our Idol judges.
Pia made a vegetable quesadilla with two dipping sauces. I wish that she had been given a chance to sing for her supper besides just being judged on the presentation and the taste of her dish. At least one of the judges found a growing fondness for veggies with her meal. There are so many fantastic combinations that you can put into a quesadilla. My favorite is still beans, scallions, peppers, and cheese with a bean dip and plenty of cilantro to add a green flair. One of my healthy ideas for making a novel quesadilla is to use a teff tortilla, instead of a whole wheat flour tortilla. Teff is popular in Middle Eastern cuisine and it is a great alternative.
Paul prepared a garlic bread grilled cheese sandwich for the contest. He told the audience the story about how he used his grilling skills to impress his new girlfriend, Nikki Reid. The grilled cheese sandwich did look inviting and with garlic…anything is possible! Grilled cheese sandwiches can be gussied up with artisan breads and gourmet cheeses. If anyone noticed the Next Great Restaurant competition that featured one of the contestants specializing in grilled cheese variety; then you can add anything to the interior of a cheese sandwich and make it unique. We like to play with heirloom tomatoes and avocaado with basil for our variation on the traditional theme. The judges loved Paul’s sandwich just as much for the presentation as for the flavor!
Lastly, and the winner, was Stefano who boldly built a pasta dish with a marinara sauce staying true to his Italian heritage. The judges voted his pasta dish the best and he was more than a little excited to receive the honor and the recognition. There are a million ways to vary pasta, so creativity is truly the ‘name of the game’ here.
All in all, it was fun to see the kids on stage again. I hope they keep singing and cooking while they start their tour.
