The Chew and The First Week in Review: Fantastic Food, Fantastic Friends, and Fantastic Ideas

October 2nd, 2011

I could have blogged every day this week to tell you just how impressed I am with the quality of information and the delicious demonstrations that the crew of “The Chew” have delivered this week.

It’s their maiden voyage and this ship has sailed into a wonderful sea of good ideas, healthy recipes, and funny moments of playful enjoyment.

I plan to watch every day this coming week. I don’t want to miss a thing. Most of the information and the quality of the ingredients in the recipes are healthy and better than what you will find anywhere else on TV.

I love the Food Network, but The Chew has taken food, fashion, lifestyle, and family to the table beyond the Food Network concept. The Chew is refreshing, joyful, and purposeful.

The Chew: Official Website for More Information

Daphne Oz is a ‘breath of fresh air’ and even Michael Symon may learn to love his vegetarian recipes more than ever before with her inspiration and talent in the kitchen. I liked her chili recipe and the other healthy meals she shared last week. Greens, beans, and other healthy ingredients are going to be reinvented for America by Daphne and her cohorts.

Everyone on The Chew is happy.

This is SO MUCH better than the drama of a Soap… I didn’t miss “All My Children” at all.

Pork seems to have been the most beloved of the white meats last week. I hope to see more chicken, tofu, and exotic meats in future weeks. The audience is a very important and valued part of The Chew Experience, so it keeps the moment fresh and revealing…not rehearsed, scripted, or robotic. I love the spontaneity and the blossoming relationships that I see on The Chew.

Come to the Table this coming week for more fantastic food, fun, and family sharing…

October 1st, 2011

Dr. Oz has another diet for you that may be worth one million dollars for one of the fortunate ones who see ii through to the end.

But even if you were the person to win the WeightWatchers prize of One Million Dollars with Dr. Oz, would you stay on this diet?

No…

Dr. Oz and Boosting Your Metabolism: The Healthy Ideas That People Miss

September 30th, 2011

If you find that you are tired, disinterested, and fell weaker than you did when you were younger, you are not just ‘aging’; you are in the ‘funk’ of a ‘deficiency’.

Dr. Oz gives women poor advice and insufficient recommendations of products and Lifestyle behaviors on his show, especially today when he presented injurious information to the masses.

When you are deficient, you must nourish your body with whole foods and energy. The foods that your body is craving to feel more energetic are those which are rich in minerals…not just zinc. All minerals…so the quality of your food sources are of great importance.

Make sure that your food is grown in the best soil with minerals and all of the amendments that allows plants to grow strong and healthy. You will also be strong and healthy when you eat whole foods from soil that is rich in nutrients.

If you want one ‘real’ product derived from whole foods and herbs which will regulate your metabolism; then choose Vital 18.

If you expect to regain your vitality and youth, then you will want to avoid gimmicks like the 7 Ways Dr. Oz gave to his audience and go for enduring Lifestyle changes that will result in health and wellness.

You will be served with Tai Chi. Even if you only learn how to do Circling Palms, you will be invigorated daily with discipline. Yoga and Tai Chi are ancient traditions which are proven to work.

If you think that the Dr. Oz 7 Day plan is going to sufficient, then you are delusional and you will be disappointed yet again when you fail to reach your goals. Even if you repeat his seven suggestions every week, you will injure your body’s bio-energetic systems more than you will stimulate your metabolism.

I would recommend that you visit your acupuncturist to do an evaluation with Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis, the Ten Questions, and Tui Na. Your acupuncturist will help you choose whole foods and herbs that are specific to your body’s deficiencies. You need individual attention to be successful.

Dr. Oz and Near Death Experiences: What Science Knows and the Trusth of Consciousness Passing Through the Gate

September 29th, 2011

Dr. Oz broke new ground for most Western Medical doctors who treat their patients like physical machines, instead of Consciousness inhabiting a human body.

Dr. Oz discussed Near Death Experiences with his guest experts and the audience on today’s episode that expanded his horizons.

Dr. Oz and Near Death Experiences: What Happens When You Die?

At least Dr. Oz admitted that his patient, George, changed his personal view about dying which has been largely formed by the medical community’s knowledge and thoughts about ‘Death’ and Near Death Experiences. Dr. Oz was more awakened as a ‘Healer’ with George’s experience of returning to his body and describing his NDE with Dr. Oz. He is more than a mere medical doctor treating the condition of the physical body today as a direct result of this event.

Dr. Oz went through the process of death in the body with the heart ceasing to pump blood and the brain shutting down from lack of oxygen. He implied that there are areas in the brain which die at different rates which might be responsible for the light, the sounds, the tunnel, and the sense of being ‘out-of-body’ during the NDE. I am going to tell you this now: He is mistaken.

It’s Consciousness that is aware of the surroundings and the experience of moving through the Seals of the body which have been described as the tunnel to go toward the Light which is typically between the First, Second, or Third Seal. The Third Seal is lit by the visible light spectrum in the Electro-Magnetic Field that appears as that bright white light at the end of the tunnel.

How do I know?

I have been trained by the best Master Teacher who started the Mystery Schools called the Ancient Schools of Wisdom after he became enlightened over 36,000 years ago. If anyone knows what happens at the point of death and after the death of the physical body, it would be Ramtha! He has often discussed Near Death Experiences and OOBs at RSE Events with students of the Great Work.

I can leave my body and travel to the other six planes as pure Consciousness which always survives the death of the physical body which it has animated in every incarnation. Consciousness uses seven bodies on seven Planes to experience Reality. The physical Plane is but one of seven. You can learn more about this Spiritual Science at RSE:

Ramtha’s School of Englightenment

Long before I began to study with Ramtha, I was introduced to NDE and OOBs through reading the works of Robert Monroe as an adolescent and later with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross while I got my degree in Psychology at the University of Wyoming.

My father described his OOB while he was undergoing surgery in the hospital for gallstones when I was an infant when we sat at lunch at a restaurant in Laramie, Wyoming when I was five years old and had my first waking ‘out-of-body’ experience while we were eating together at noon and told him that I had just been above us looking down.

I have assisted people to leave their bodies and return or leave permanently at the moment of Death in a state of calm and peaceful understanding. Many cancer patients have asked for counseling and guidance through this process when no other health care provider knew enough to work with them in this way. But now there are many programs for Hospice and End of Life care available to patients and the elderly who approach Death’s Door.

To inform you and Dr. Oz, it is not the brain, it is not even Mind, but it is Consciousness that is the awareness of the process which occurs with Death. The Soul leaves the body and researchers have found that the physical body weighs thirteen ounces less following death.

Once the Silver Chord is severed and Consciousness leaves through any of seven Seals, it signals the initiation of Death with the exit from the physical body. A Master who has been taught to perform a ‘re-entry’ has three days to return to their physical body and repair it, so it can serve them longer. They also have the choice to move on to the next stage of their journey or take some time to contemplate on the Plane of Bliss.

Most people have no control over the death process or where they go when they leave their bodies, because our culture rarely discusses it. The Egyptian Book of the Dead and the Tibetan Book of the Dead among other transcripts in many Eastern traditions have provided accounts for thousands of years and the Masters have trained their Initiates over the centuries to understand the process when the time comes for their departure.

Some people will be able to tell which Plane they are on by the specific sound they ‘perceive’. Some will know by the color of the EM Light Spectrum they encounter. Others will find that they are met by relatives, friends, or Beings who guide them through the gates. After that revealing Life Review, there is a period of time before the next incarnation or experience on another Plane of existence. It varies individual by individual in accord with their state of Consciousness.

Those who appear to die and they return to revive their bodies are often told of ‘unfinished business’ in this life time. As the ‘Healer’ doctor who talked to Dr. Oz told the audience, she had three distinct reasons to return to her life, even though she wanted to stay in the light.

Perhaps the most useful point that was made on Dr. Oz today was by the gentleman who said that he had judged himself during his Life Review. No one, no God, and nothing else judges you…ONLY you. That is profound! At any given moment, you can change and be a better person who will find solace when the time comes to leave this life permanently. This is why the Egyptians used the scales to weigh your heart as light as a feather… It is your responsibility and your opportunity to be at peace and in harmony with your Life, moment by moment, as if it mattered in the Light of All Eternity…

Martha Stewart and Sustainable Agriculture: The Seed Savers Exchange and Heirloom Seeds

September 28th, 2011

I watch several of the daytime television shows to bring you fresh content every day. Today I was somewhat disappointed with Dr. Oz and the physicians on TheDoctorsTV show.

But I drew a great deal of inspiration from watching Martha Stewart with her guest, Emeril LaGasse. Together they prepared dishes on the spot with fresh produce from Martha’s property and from the members of the audience who brought fruits and vegetables and herbs from their own gardens and fields especially for this show.

One of the best resources that Martha has to share with you is Seed Savers. These people have been exchanging and saving heirloom seeds for a long time and have an excellent reputation among those of us who have interacted with them.

Seeds Savers: Information and Exchange System

When you tend your own garden or grow your own herbs using heirloom or non-hybrid seeds, you can exchange them with other people who share the same enthusiasm for fresh produce from native seed stock.

We are preserving the natural Bio-Diversity of thousands of years of Nature’s wisdom and human cultivation.

We don’t trust the experiments of Monsanto and other industry giants who want to control the seeds that farmers of major crops use for commodities. GMO foods are the bane of modern science and civilization!

Martha pointed out that many producers and growers are volunteering to label their produce as Non-GMO which is relevant to the intelligent consumer for their ultimate health and wellness.

No one in their right mind who wants to be well should ever consume ANY produce or foods that have ingredients from GMO crops or seeds. Period! End of story! No debate needed…

I was thrilled that Martha shared the information about the National Heirloom Exposition that was recently held with vendors sharing their seeds and produce with the public and one another.

If you want to be healthy, then grow your own food, prepare that food in your own kitchen, and exchange seeds with your communities to share the wealth of the land and ancient wisdom.

Here’s more about this episode of the best show on TV today:

Dr. Oz and Chronic Pain Management: The Doctors In Denial and the Patient is at Their Mercy

September 27th, 2011

It came as no surprise to me, because I have heard many patients complain about Western Medical doctors who have failed them when it comes to treating their chronic pain.

Most of the audience and probably most of the public must have been shocked at some of the things that Dr. Oz pointed out about the current situation in the medical field when it comes to physicians and their approach to pain in their practices.

Dr. Oz and Chronic Pain Management

Dr. Oz seemed almost apologetic as he described the male doctors’ views about the mental health of female patients who want them to alleviate their pain. The doctors also think women are hysterical which is a gender bias, too. Many physicians fear that their patients are going to sell the pain medication they prescribe or become addicted to the drugs. All in all, the doctors are inept and arrogant in their assessment of their female patients’ chronic pain.

Many doctors don’t even treat the pain. They think that it is all in the mind of the patient without any basis in physical disease or discomfort. Many patients have to seek out other doctors when their primary care physicians ignore or fail to believe them. They cannot deal with the continuous pain.

The guest experts on Dr. Oz explained that most doctors are not properly trained in chronic pain management, let alone pain assessment. The podiatrist said she is one of about 1% who has adequate training. Those are not good odds for the patients and it shows the degree of deficiency in Western Medical Training institutions.

It’s no wonder that patients look for specialists who can understand their ordeal and offer them legitimate professional help. One female doctor on the panel even described that her doctor spoke to her husband while she was present. But the female doctor she worked with could comprehend her chronic pain and was able to treat her.

While it’s true that there are gender differences in tolerating pain, most women can take a lot of pain before seeking treatment. My own mother was a living example of that. The doctors at a prestigious clinic missed the cancer in her body and she suffered in agonizing pain for two years before a family physician found the tumor. Needless suffering… You cannot trust your doctor to know it all!

We’ve talked about inflammation and chronic pain. We’ve talked about food sensitivities which can present with pain. We’ve talked about the place for acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, bodywork, and bio-energetic management of chronic pain. I am not going to take the time to go over it again, but it is here in previous posts for you.

I will point out yet again that two of the most effective remedies for chronic pain are very inexpensive. The CieAura Holographic Chips are excellent for chronic pain management. While many people have used MSM powder, I find that the Essential Oils of Lavender and a blend of EOs are even better for addressing chronic or acute pain.

CieAura Holographic Chips for Chronic Pain

While I have only limited experience with the Nopales cactus product, Nopalea; I have found that the literature does support the reduction of inflammation and thus…pain. The use of pearl powder has also shown great promise for reducing inflammation and eliminating the sensation and the causes for pain.

Pain is your body’s tool of communication to signal that there is an imbalance in your body. The doctor who uses drugs to cover it up, instead of treating the source and cause of the pain is not doing his job. The management of chronic pain requires the change of the underlying causal factors for the pain to be comprehensive and suitable for patients.

Later in the show, Dr. Oz helped his daughter, Daphne, and Gordon Elliot prepare a salmon burger. Gordon appropriately mentioned that what will set “The Chew” apart from the Dr. Oz show is that Dr. Oz explains chronic pain whereas Daphne Oz will tell you how to prepare foods that deal with the pain. Good for them! Please watch The Chew!

The Chew: Healthy Food, Friendly Discussion, and Helpful Tips Showed Up on the Table Today

September 26th, 2011

The Chew on ABC aired their first episode today and I approve of the content. I am going to be watching and reporting to you about this new show. It holds real promise!

The inviting individuals who meet at the table engaged in friendly discussion and seem to be getting to know one another. The set is set up for the audience to taste what is prepared and to watch demonstrations of useful tools and techniques that these laughing people have to share with you five days a week.

The Chew on ABC: More Information on the Official Website

Michael Symon began with pork, kale, and beans. The kale and white beans made Daphne Oz exceedingly happy that Michael is paying attention to making the dishes prepared on the show healthy and delicious. The gimmick of using 5 ingredients and fixing the dish in 5 minutes will appeal to many busy housewives and mothers who have to mourn their loss of “All My Children”, but need something to fill the void until they watch “One Life to Live” or “Days of Our Lives”… This is a show with real life drama as we watched Mario battle the weather outside on the golf course while he prepared pizza in the wood-fired oven on location raising money for charity.

I had to laugh when Mario used his new coined phrase explaining that there are two kinds of people: Italians and those who want to be Italian. At least the pizza can satisfy both, but he could have taken the opportunity to show the audience how to make a gluten-free crust. Mario needs to pay close attention to Daphne to get rid of that tire around his middle!

Daphne prepared her Breakfast Superfood Smoothie without any real superfood ingredients. Blueberries and yogurt are not really what those of us in the business of Wellness would call ‘superfoods’. Some people are using the term too loosely. The Smoothie was fairly good until she began to throw in all of those supplemental substances that should be coming from whole foods, instead of powder or capsules. One idea that I hope you find appealing for your Smoothies is to use frozen bananas, instead of ice. This will cool your drink, add nutrient value, and make your Smoothie taste a lot better.

I was not pleased with Daddy Oz who tried to upstage his daughter, Daphne. He should have stayed in the audience with the other parents of the Chew crew who attended this pilot performance! He also told a distasteful story about Daphne’s birth which was inappropriate and yet she tried to smile through the ordeal with some modicum of grace which I believe she gets from her mother.

Daddy Oz has his own show and he was out of place by trying to steal his daughter’s thunder! I think that Daphne will do more for her audience with organics and local sourcing of whole foods than her father does with all of his medical rhetoric. I can hardly wait to weigh in on this on a regular basis.

Carla and Clinton are unfamiliar faces to me, but they have great attitudes and they both offered good information today. I liked the way Clinton brought pork back in the second form of the day using bacon to recreate a BLT for a cocktail party appetizer. He’s smart to forgo the bread, yet maintain the essential ingredients that make our mouths water for bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a good mayo! I hope that Clinton brings on the organic Red Wine in the near future.

Carla is adorable and she brought me back to my own childhood when I, too, ordered those recipe cards with their little plastic holder to inspire me with ideas for new and inviting dishes to prepare in my kitchen years ago…many, many years ago. The irony is that she used apple rings with pancake batter which is not ideal for the health of the digestive system.

If you want to remodel this old recipe, then use a sub-acid fruit to replace the apples or the pineapple ideas. They are cute enough to appeal to the kids while tasting great with the home-made syrup to satisfy the adults in the household. I would use pears, peaches, or bananas with a batter for breakfast or dessert. The agave syrup is fantastic along with the cinnamon, clove, and allspice.

I also found Michael’s demonstration of the microplane grater to be a segment that will really help people learn how to master certain skills in their kitchens. If you don’t know how to use the tools, it makes food preparation that much more difficult. This should be a regular installment on the show. His Iron Chef skills are not wasted and you are going to see good things from him.

All in all, this first episode is a promising display of what’s to come that should contribute to a healthy Lifestyle. It’s crisp, it’s well-written, and the Chew crew is delightful!

Bon Voyage!

Dr. Oz and His One Million Dollar Transformation Nation Weight Loss Project

September 26th, 2011

Oprah appeared for a moment with a taped message urging viewers to participate in the Transformation Nation project with Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers.

I could ‘Tell a Friend” and enter to win one MILLION dollars, but then I would have to sacrifice the quality of my food and my health to do so! I will NOT be participating in this project.

But if you think that you need to have a Weight Watchers staff member coach you and babysit you in order to lose weight using their system, then this is an option for you to consider.

You can find out all of the details at the Dr. Oz Official Website:

Dr. Oz and the One Million Dollar Transformation Nation Information

Weight Watchers does have a good reputation for some people who are celebrities who have lost weight and shaped up using their system. But it does not meet my high standards, so I cannot endorse their program.

A Whole Foods plant-based organic diet will do much more for you than the mediocre Weight Watchers program. I know that for a fact.

But not many people have the will, the dedication, the skills in the kitchen, or the discipline to proceed to lose weight on their own. So if you need a ton of support to be led by the hand through the program to reach your goals of weight loss, then you have a few days to register with Dr. Oz and Sharecare to participate with their project.

It’s going to be more work than you realize, but it may be useful for your short-term goal of losing some pounds and learning how to eat in such a way that you won’t put the weight back on any time soon. You wouldn’t want to expend all of that time and effort only to become a ‘yo-yo’ dieter.

Dr. Oz seemed thrilled to share this opportunity with you, but remember that you are going to be the one that has to do it for yourself. It’s your body…after all. If your over-consumption is based upon your social relationships, then you should consider the Weight Watchers program. It is based upon social interaction and pressure and support. The business is built upon a ‘group’ concept for those who need to share the process to get them through moments of weakness and lack of willful discipline.

You can use Vital 18 to replace two meals a day. You will still need natural food sources of fiber to maintain the function of your digestive system. But the ideal method for weight management is to embrace a healthy Lifestyle as I continue to describe for you every day. There are millions of healthy individuals and holistic health care providers who are able to provide you with all the support, knowledge, and guidance that you might benefit from when you take control of your weight and your health.

In my opinion, you would be doing the WW program for the million dollar prize with the weight loss being secondary. If that is true for you, you may want to combine the two; but if you care more for your health and well-being, then you will be better served to proceed with a Whole Foods program that you are in complete control over every day, so you earn your success.

Dr. Oz and Astaxanthin: Get Yours with Krill Oil in a Superior Supplement

September 25th, 2011

Recently Dr. Oz spoke with his guest expert who recommended that people take Astaxanthin as a nutritional supplement daily as one of their top picks for health and wellness.

But where do you get the best Astaxanthin?

We would like to recommend that you go to Vital Choice and purchase the Krill Oil which contains Astaxanthin as one component of the product.

From previous episodes of Dr. Oz, you will remember that Krill Oil is preferable to Fish Oil. At least Dr. Mercola and a number of other experts thinks this is true.

Between Deepak Chopra, Dr. Andrew Weil, and Dr. Oz, the best nutritional supplement that the three of them discussed is Astaxanthin. Most people have not heard of it, nor even know how to spell or pronounce it.

Visit VitalChoice and learn more about the health benefits of this substance.

VitalChoice Carries Krill Oil with Astaxanthin

I rarely will recommend that you take single substances for nutritional supplementation, since the human body is much more complex and requires numerous nutrients simultaneously to gain a true benefit from supplementation.

In this case, the presence of Krill Oil with the inclusion of Astaxanthin is satisfactory. You will most likely avoid the burping that occasionally occurs with Fish Oil and you will still get your EFAs.

But I would still suggest to you to enjoy sustainably-harvested seafood, nuts, seeds, and other sources from whole foods to ensure that you are deriving all of the co-factors as well as the single nutrients that are being identified in the media and by medical doctors who know much less than they need to about nutrition.

Do not forgo your Salmon!

Besides…when you eat well, you are going to be getting a wider variety of nutrients from your food sources. This is better than trading in pharmaceuticals for nutritional supplements which doctors like Weil and Oz need to grasp in more meaningful ways…

Rachael Ray and Selma Hayak: Outer Beauty and the Preservation of Traditions with a Modern Scientific Twist

September 24th, 2011

Selma Hayak appeared on Rachael Ray’s TV show this last week and talked about her grandmother and the new line of products she has now made available to the public which reflect that traditional knowledge, yet have the added advantage of the science behind them.

Selma has spent a few years perfecting her new line of products. The recipes and formulas came from her grandmother who carries the traditional knowledge of several cultures with her to share with future generations. It has often fallen to the women in families and communities to be the ones to continue the traditions and share this knowledge to keep it alive.

Selma is proud to have had a ‘hands-on’ approach which allowed her to work closely with the scientists and formulators to make sure that attention was given to every detail from product design to final presentation. She’s done a great job of over-seeing the production of her product line. It’s more than her name alone… It is the signature of a mature and caring individual who wants only the best for those who use these products.

The Buzz on Selma’s New Product Line: The Face of Traditional Beauty

Selma is quite the animated woman! Her sweet sense of humor is refreshing, even when she pokes fun at her accent. She is one of the more authentic actresses that is grounded in a more profound reality than most of Hollywood. She realizes that it’s the power in ‘regeneration’ that makes a beauty product work to fulfill the promises made to the consumers.

Rachael Ray Show Information

By the way, Rachael has started her new series of 30 Minute Meals on the Food Network channel and she has all new programming on the major TV networks every day. There are old episodes on the Food Network of the programs where she travels and takes you to various places in different towns and cities. I just watched the San Diego special and it reminded me just how vital southern California is to the movement for a healthy Lifestyle.

In many places, you can’t eat out at restaurants, because they don’t provide the organic and vegetarian choices that are essential for those of us adhering to a healthy diet. But San Diego is one city where people celebrate whole foods and organic cuisine!

Outer beauty inevitably comes from the food and beverages that you consume and your quality of interior health and well-being. If you want to keep your appearance youthful and vibrant, then it is incredibly important to eat organic and natural foods from your own kitchen, from restaurants, from local markets and coops, and from the shows like Rachael’s which share recipes oriented toward healthy ingredients.
