Is White Refined Sugar Toxic: The Obvious Answer is YES!

April 1st, 2012

Long ago in a universe far away, we all read “The Sugar Blues” and most of us began to feel better fast when we stopped ingesting the white poisonous substance. We were part of that initial movement toward health foods in the 1970s.

We quit using white refined sugar, table salt, white flour, and artificial anything which we replaced with natural UNPROCESSED whole foods.

We started and supported local Food Coops, health food stores, and buying clubs. We taught each other to cook and make our own bread, granola, yogurt, sprouts, and peanut butter. We juiced and we began to garden and source our own herbs, spices, and condiments. We rewrote the book on health and wellness while we learned to do yoga and gained the knowledge of ancient cultures from the East.

We’ve never looked back and wondered if we knew the answer to the questions, since now we were ‘living proof’ that our choices were working for us. We were stronger, smarter, and healthier than our contemporaries who did not change their ways.

Today in the News, the trending topic “is sugar toxic?” features traditional media sporting the question to which we quickly announce: Obviously, YES!

CBS News: Is Sugar Toxic?

There’s more evidence now to justify and support our position. It is generally-recognized in most health and medical circles that refined white sugar is linked to medical issues from degenerative diseases to Diabetes to obesity and beyond!

The real question should be: what will we do about it?

We decided to refuse to buy it or consume it, and to that end we began to develop healthy alternatives. The natural sweeteners are all around us now and it’s easy for newbies to make a choice. We are making ketchup without it along with other foods that people don’t typically associate with sugar. Companies were born and industries created to meet our needs and satisfy our demands for healthy options.

Even when sneaky manufacturers design products like Splenda, we educate one another and inform the public. Look what happened to high fructose corn syrup… Just saying!

Let’s Call Pink Slime What It Is: Pink Death!

March 31st, 2012

The latest attempt to ‘sell’ the public on the false sense of safety when it comes to Pink Slime was a political and economic one. This video from a clip at ABC news with Diane Sawyer and Jim Avila continues to expose the dangers of combining Pink Slime and politics:

Pink Slime Tour with Politicians Video

Politicians who ‘sell’ their souls to the devil on a regular basis were out in force to tour a manufacturing facility for Pink Slime The political and economic implications for their constituents were part of the ‘machine’ used to sway public opinion. But in this case, these idiots did more harm than good.

In essence, the foolish politicians made our case for us. One fellow looking gaunt and grey suggested that this ‘lean’ beef product was better for you in the form of Pink Slime. He is not a model for health and fitness, so who in the world would believe him? No one! We know that he was only engaged in the game for the sake of the game…

The political game is simple. Sell the public a lie until they buy it. But that won’t work in this case!

Then Rick Perry had nothing better to say than “Call it what it is”.

OK, Rick, here is what I am calling it. PINK DEATH! The Slime label was too kind…this processed beef product is the kiss of death and it’s pink. Pink Death. There, Rick, how’s that for being honest?

The good ol’ boys posed for photo ops and attended a luncheon to munch on burgers made from Pink Death product.

The Pink Slime patty was served on a white flour bun processed with chemicals of its own. I couldn’t tell from the video whether the hamburger included any lettuce or tomato – live foods – that would have been the only redeeming ingredients in plain sight. Perhaps they had yellow processed mustard and ketchup with sugar and even more added chemical components to round out the list of unhealthy ingredients. There may have been pickles, but how were they pickled and what’s in the brine?

This is a hamburger that you would only serve to an enemy of the state of health. Even if I had been starving, I would not ingest this contaminated and adulterated burger!

It’s not fit for human consumption, so they have to feed it to politicians.

Am I being harsh? I am tired of their lies for the sake of money. Your health is more important than that petty stuff!

So guess what, politicians and Pink Slime makers? Your snow job failed and we, the public, are still not going to buy or eat beef made with Pink Slime. We are simply going to watch this video and the segment on the News and realize just how sleazy and slimy our politicians are! As corrupt as usual and now lending their tarnished reputation to Pink Slime.

If any one wants to eat Pink Slime beef, then you can pay for your own medical care when you develop heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other degenerative diseases. You, sirs, are your own worst enemies. You eat foods that are compromised and then expect the taxpayers to pay for medical treatments. You’ve lost your minds along with having lost all credibility…

Just say “NO” to Pink Slime!

Let’s all say, “Pink Death”!

TheDoctorsTV and Medical Mistakes with Dr. Sanjay Gupta

March 28th, 2012

Dr. Sanjay appeared with the doctors today to discuss medical mistakes.

TheDoctorsTV and Dr. Sanjay Gupta

While this show was an open and honest look at the human mistakes that doctors make in their ‘practice’ of medicine; it makes you wonder how to evaluate your physician and monitor the skill set and choices made with your case.

The discussions covered some specific examples and general information about the M and M Conference doctors have on Mondays. Morbidity and Mortality issues are jockeyed around to address errors and help the doctors grow into better practitioners.

There are checks and balances in the medical system; yet 200,000 people die annually from mistakes. That’s not a good track record…

Finally some ideas to help prevent medical mistakes were offered to the audience. Basically it’s up to you to ensure the doctors know what they are doing and perform their skills with precision. It takes a team effort.

Dr. Oz Explores Unconventional Methods for Pain Relief

March 27th, 2012

You would think that a medical doctor would become knowledgeable about pain relief. It would be logical to think it would be part of their curriculum in medical school. Not always…

Today Dr. Oz explored unconventional methods for treating pain. Some were new to me, too.

Dr. Oz and Pain Relief Methods

While I heartily endorse Gua Sha from a trained professional in TCM, there were some suggestions that were not good ideas.

Botox is one of those ‘bad ideas’.

Remember as you read about these methods, they are primarily for treatment, not resolution nor prevention. There’s a huge difference in outcome and the direction for future care.

Pink Slime Maker Shuts Down Some Plants and Puts Workers on Extended Vacations

March 26th, 2012

This is exactly what I wanted to see happen…

Pink Slime is being rejected by consumers and youth advocates for obvious health concerns. So the manufacturers of Pink Slime have shut down some of the facilities that make the sludge.

The demand is no longer there. This is the desired outcome of this investigation by reporters and the public.

Pink Slime Maker Shuts Down Plants

Just because a product has been used for years, it doesn’t make it safe or healthy. We quit eating meat decades ago when learning that it had been adulterated with chemicals. Finally, John Q Public is catching up with the shananigans of manufacturers like those who make Pink Slime beef, if we can even call it beef. it’s a bunch of collagen and ammonium hydroxide, no longer resembling beef at all.

At least we have succeeded in stopping the production of 200,000 pounds a day in the plants that are being closed down. How many fewer cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and degenerative diseases will that amount save?

200 workers could go to work making healthy beef by ranching to raise grass=fed animals. There’s a thought!

You are going to have to keep your eyes on this company, they wil try to rise from the ashes of their own destruction under a new name or a changed recipe for disaster.

Martha Stewart and Whole Living: Gluten-Free Recipes for the Home Kitchen

March 25th, 2012

I have decided to begin to give you more specific recipes and resources for Wellness and optimal health on the weekends, instead of harping on the short-comings of doctors like Dr. Oz.

Last night, we were talking with a friend who used to own a health store. She told us how she had gone to a party and they had two types of brownies for people to nibble on.

One was a regular brownie with refined sugar, white flour, and the usual ingredients that make brownies dense and chewy. The other was a gluten-free brownie for the health-conscious.

She decided to eat the regular brownie, because she harbors an old attitude that health food doesn’t taste as good. She closed the doors to her store quite some time ago. She hasn’t stayed on top of the advances in the quality of healthy foods.

Needless to say, she decided to try the gluten-free brownie and she was surprised that it WAS better than the regular recipe.

Whole Living Gluten-Free Recipes

You can make gluten-free cookies and other goodies in your home kitchen that taste far better than what you buy in a store or at a bakery. Not too long ago, these healthy ingredients were not available to the home cook. Now they are and we are developing recipes that reflect the trends of the times for health and Wellness.

When you switch to gluten-free ingredients and foods, you will often find that any inflammation or bloating or pain in the gut ceases and you fell better. It’s a win-win situation: good taste and good health!

Dr. Oz Thinks that Red Yeast Rice Extract is a Natural Pharmaceutical!

March 24th, 2012

What’s in a name or a label which a doctor places on a nutritional supplement that defies all logic?

Dr. Oz on Red Yeast Rice Extract

Dr. Oz describes red yeast rice extract as a natural pharmaceutical on his website. There is no such thing!

Either a substance is labeled to be a drug or a nutrient, not both. This is a grievous error on his part. A drug may be derived from a natural plant, but the properties are changed in the process.

Many natural substances are altered and are turned into drugs, but they are no longer identical. It betrays common sense and professional training to call this extract a drug. It IS a nutritional supplement.

Doctors and medical personnel need to draw that fine line in the sand. They need to get the facts straight and present accurate information to the public.

The confused doctor was trying to give his audience some natural options for reducing cholesterol. He provided foods like okra, beans, and barley which are rich in fiber. he mentions plant-based diets that lessen the frequency of the consumption of animal products. He even identifies oyster mushrooms, although he is unsure whether to eat them raw or cook them. The List goes on with soy foods and nuts.

It was great to see Dr. Oz invite Alex from the Food Network to prepare a vegetable pot pie. She can cook! Everyone was making pot pies this week. Michael Symon on The Chew whipped up a delectable pot pie with Mario helping with the prep work. Martha made a pot pie and there was another episode on the FoodChannel that featured a pot pie. Pot Pies are a good way to eat a variety of vegetables in one dish.

The regulation of fatty metabolism in the body is best managed with whole foods, not statin drugs. Nutritional supplements come in second place to whole foods. With any luck at all, Dr. oz will know the difference in the future.

Dr. Oz and What Happens When You Die with Char Margolis

March 23rd, 2012

Dr. Oz attempted to take an adversarial position by calling this episode “Medium vs. Medical Doctor”; but he was more open than he thought he would be to what Char Margolis had to say.

Then some of the audience members who got short Readings made an even bigger impression on the doctor when they experienced some relevant information about those who had died in their lives.

Char appears to be able to read the images and the letters of names in the Bands surrounding the human body. Her technique is similar to John Edwards’ method. Questions…

Char thinks that there is only a physical plane and a spirit plane; but there are seven planes. She thinks that we incarnate to deal with karma, but that’s only one aspect of the process of reincarnation. It’s one thing to take care of unfinished business, and yet another to evolve to the point of becoming an enlightened Master.

She did a quick overview of going through the tunnel toward the white light and seeing loved ones at death. While that’s not always the case, it is common. She spoke briefly about dreams.

I hope this wet the appetite of the audience for wanting to know more about the endless journey that is marked by birth, life, death, rebirth, and God-Realization.

There are times when deceased relatives or loved ones are present, but they have better things to do than hang out around you. Life goes on… What Char is doing is reading the information in the person’s Bands, not a message from the one who is dead. We are all integrated within the ‘Mind of God” and have access to all Thought.

She is sincere, but has some knowledge to gain as does Dr. Oz who took out a brain to show that the activity of a psychic is different in the frontal lobe than usual. There are so many secrets held within the activities of the action of Mind upon the brain that humans have to discover that there’s not enough time here to do this subject justice.

What doctors most need to know is that when they lose a patient, there is no need to feel sorrow, guilt, or any other emotion. We all feel a loss, but that person who has died has left their body and moved into another subtle body to carry on – they possess an immortal Soul and are not lost to us.

A living person can learn to leave the body and travel to where the deceased person has gone. I know that I have on many occasions with many people I knew in this Life. It’s an art to skillfully control leaving your body at Will. It does liberate you. This is true Freedom.

There is no reason to fear death. You’ll see… You can study what others have learned over the span of eons about this in various sacred texts or wait until you have your own personal experience.
