Dr. Oz Invites Too Much Information From Patients

April 27th, 2012

Most doctors want their patients to keep it short and brief when talking about symptoms and what’s going on in their bodies. Physicians are notorious for making very little time to discuss one’s concerns and feelings without charging the patient for extra time spent in the appointment. But Dr. Oz seems to be different.

Dr. Oz welcomes too much information!

Dr. Oz and TMI

If more doctors wanted to know as much about their patients as possible to make a correct and accurate diagnosis; it would be a good sign for Western Medicine.

Doctors need to recognize that a patient’s knowledge may vary from ignorance to being well-informed…from being observant of what’s going on in their bodies to being oblivious! This is going to help in patient compliance.

Then there’s the case of having Dr. Oz share too much information with us. He endlessly talks about weight loss and ways to get rid of fat. He shares so many supplements and products with his audience that you could easily spend tens of thousands of dollars following his advice.

We got a glimpse into Dr. Oz at home as he opened his kitchen cabinets to the cameras. I wonder how many hours he and Lisa spent getting those cupboards organized.

Dr,. Oz opened the frig and there they were in plain sight not to be missed – the radishes. He then made a beeline over to the cabinet to show off his collection of olive oils and I saw the Frontier Sea Salt container among the bottles of oil.

He opened up the rosemary spice bottle, but where were the fresh herbs and spices?

Did you notice his Bullet blender when he and his son made a blueberry banana smoothie? Those are handy.

In the oz pantry, there are dried cherries, bulgur, onions, and brewer’s yeast. He says that he has every nut under the sun, but we only saw the bag of chestnuts which he grabs and takes on the run for snacks. I didn’t see any signs of other whole grains, beans, legumes, or seeds. Those are the staples for a healthy Lifestyle at the most basic of levels of Wellness in the kitchen. In general, his kitchen is well-stocked.

In the bathroom, he showed off his two toothbrushes, his mouthguards, and was proud that everything else was located elsewhere. He and Lisa keep Myrrh and Aloe Vera Gel in the house.

I am surprised that he does yoga on the carpet, instead of using a yoga mat. I am also surprised that he uses a sock for his dried herbs in the bedroom, rather than diffusing Essential Oils which are infinitely more effective. Do you believe that the doctor wears ‘goodnighties’ when he can sleep naked?

I am encouraged that he ‘walks his talk’ at home…and that he would allow cameras into his personal space. Even the little view we got of his office space on the set of the show where he keeps his dental floss and his goodies that he brings from home shows us that doctors can adopt healthy habits at work, too. My only addition would be to teach him to use kombu after soaking his beans and rinsing them, instead of relying upon Beano to help him deal with gas. He has more to learn about foods with enzymes like pineapple and papaya, miso soup, sauerkraut, fermented vegetables, pickled daikon, vinegars, and citrus. If he likes radishes, then he’ll love pickled daikon! If he likes beans, then he’ll adore kombu and these other condiments to add to his basic set-up at home and at the office.

There’s never too much information to share when it comes to a healthy Lifestyle…

Dr. Oz and Thunder Thighs: Shape Up

April 26th, 2012

Dr. Oz takes on fat again. He showed some huge thunder thighs to drive the point home…

He recommended meat substitutes like soy hot dogs and veggie burgers along with a calcium supplement. He fights fat with parsley tea and other supplements.

I am amazed that he never has really talked about using massage therapy and bodywork to get the body back into shape. He does discuss walking and exercise more often than not. He is lost when it comes to subliminal tapes and hypnosis, but you can use any of these methods for success.

He went on to tout green coffee beans to lose weight. His guest expert described the study. The participants lost a good percentage of fat without side-effects after only twelve weeks.

Dr. Oz and Green Coffee Beans

Short-term fixes to drop a few pounds or shed a few inches usually end up being replaced over the next year; so a healthy Lifestyle every day is the best way to maintain your ideal body in shape and form. When you treat your body like a temple that is sacred, you will create a sanctuary for health and well-being. Refrain from treating your body like a machine or a depository for excesses from food to alcohol to harmful emotions that build a buffer zone of protection with fat.

Take your Thunder Thighs and walk, run, or skip until you arrive where you feel comfortable in your body as you shape it into your ideal of beauty and health.

Dr. Oz and 50 Shades of Grey: Sexuality and a Healthy Lifestyle

April 25th, 2012

Human sexuality is far more than ‘black and white’! In one book that is extremely popular, it has at least fifty shades of grey.

Dr. Oz is still fascinated with sexuality and brings yet another perspective to the audience today. All of the people, men and women, in the audience had read the book, “Fifty Shades of Grey” and many weighed in with their thoughts to the content.

Dr. oz and “Fifty Shades of Grey” Sex

Human sexuality has many dimensions by the very nature of one’s humanity and diversity in expression. Sex can be viewed as exercise, sex can be viewed as creative expression, sex can be used to manipulate or exploit, and sex can be used to experience union.

Dr. Oz and the people responding to this book seem to treat sex as a sport. I have news for them…they’ll have to retire their jerseys early when misusing the body’s energy for shallow gratification.

Only one woman brought up the issue surrounding unhealthy sexual behavior as exhibited in this book. I would give her a round of applause. It’s one thing to integrate sexual intimacy into a healthy Lifestyle and quite another thing to initiate and support behavior that compromises the individual or the relationship. There are fine lines in the sand on this beach!

I haven’t read the book and I don’t plan on wasting my time after listening to Dr. Oz and this segment. Liberation is more than sexual or physical. Whether you are a busy mom or a single hottie, there’s a time and place for sexual intimacy that can be found in anyone’s schedule that contributes to the health of the person and their partner.

Instead of reading a book and being stimulated by a fantasy, why are you not looking deeply into the eyes of your Beloved? Instead of turning to that book, turn to your partner and dive into the Divine together. Be present, find the moment to fill yourself with love, and know true union without any interference from outside yourselves. Then it is authentic and belongs to the two of you alone as one. You don’t have to share with the author or a character in a book. It’s ‘real’…

Dr. Oz continues to approach sexuality as a condition that needs to be fixed or manipulated by external forces when it is the most natural movement of energy and creativity within the human being with the only need being for genuine authenticity. Sexual expression is one aspect of a healthy Lifestyle.

The only good part of the discussion was about the brain’s role in sexual expression. This deserves your attention and consideration. There’s more to the brain than meets the eye. Once you comprehend the majesty of the brain that allows Mind to operate the physical body, you can then explore the movement of energy within and around the body that takes you into the realm of the esoteric experience of union and Oneness.

Dr. Marc Argues Against Dark Chocolate and Red Wine for Heart Health

April 25th, 2012

TheDoctorsTV welcomed the commentary of Dr. Marc who told the audience that heart health takes more than red wine and dark chocolate.

He wrote a book that takes hundreds of pages to explain to you why a healthy Lifestyle is important, not just a few quick fixes. He only mentioned exercise, eating well, and the basics.

He doesn’t believe that a patient should argue with a cardiac surgeon. It’s all relative and who knows where that conversation will take you. Perhaps to a dinner with red wine and a chocolate dessert?

TheDoctorsTV and Heart Health

Personally, after listening to Dr. Marc for a few minutes, I would ascertain that he is no expert on Red Wine nor does he seem the type to prepare healthy desserts in his kitchen. You have to weigh the medical mind with a feather…

He appears to e to be the kind of guy that would dismiss the natural healthy approach as too much trouble for too little return and go with surgery when called for after a time when the basics are not enough.

He hasn’t seen what we’ve seen…

But then again, he deals with models of disease and we deal in Wellness..

Dr. Oz and The Fight Against Fatigue: Energy Beyond Intervention

April 24th, 2012

Dr. Oz keeps trying to help his audience with their lack of energy and extreme fatigue. He comes up with medical interventions all the time. Still…millions of people are feeling wiped out, tired, and have no solution for this fatigue.

Today Dr. Oz gave three conceptual groups an alternative way to view their fatigue. While i do not think it is as simple as being classified into a mere three groups, it helps people get a clearer picture of the causes for their fatigue. The women from the audience seemed to be in agreement with his classification method.

Fatigue has any number of underlying causative factors. In my opinion, each person needs a personal assessment to determine the actual cause for that individual. Doctors are lazy when they stick people into broad groups. The strategy often fails the individual.

Everyone deserves to have plenty of energy to get through every day and night of their lives. As deficiencies continue to become more severe, the person feels more and more tired with less-than-hoped-for results from any approach.

This is where bio-energetic knowledge comes into play in changing the energy systems in the human body. Sometimes it is structural or yin, sometimes it is functional or yang, and sometimes both sides of the coin are in motion in the picture. Energy beyond medical intervention is the goal and the objective to maintain it is a key element to the bio-energetic perspective. This is not a fight, it is a mutually-beneficial symbiotic support system.

Dr. Oz and Fatigue in Three Groups

You can get an idea about the intervention that Dr. Oz uses or learn more here about bio-energetic methods. You can employ either or both until you have the energy resources that provides the platform for a vibrant active lifestyle.

TheDoctorsTV and Tantric Sex For an Hour

April 24th, 2012

I rarely find something to discuss about the content on TheDoctorsTV these days; but today was an exception.

Dr, Travis, the hunk, enticed the audience with the promise of an hour of great sex. I was curious.

It turned out to be Tantra.

There was a nice lead in piece and then these doctors attempted to describe Tantric Yoga without any personal experience or direct knowledge of the practice! I laughed at their meager effort…

But Dr. Lisa was the most confused as she stumbled through a rehearsed set of concepts, key words, and images of sex and intimacy. She knows not… Yet she did make the effort and for that I want to acknowledge her.

Dr. Jim and Dr. Drew drank their Sex smoothies and they were ready. That’s the right attitude – being open and eager for an intimate moment or hour. The boys sipped through giant straws and passed the first test smiling with eyes lit up.

Tantric Yoga can go for hours and is so much deeper than sex alone. The connection and interaction is primarily spiritual for union with the divine. Most people in the West don’t grasp the full measure of that!

Sexual gratification is one aspect of Tantra. Partners facilitate the movement of energy in the human body and most humans reference that as sexual energy which attracts people to the process.

I suggest that you read more about it to better understand it. Then you will be ready to decide whether or not to experience Tantric Sex directly.

TheDoctorsTV and Tantric Sex

Just scroll down the synopsis to the bottom of the page for this segment on Tantra and sex. There is a video that has graphic material which describes the stages of generic tantric sexual methods; but you personalize it with your partner as you master the art form that is far from being as clinical as the doctors make it sound…

You can benefit from nourishment before and following your intimate encounter with this smoothie or shake. Electrolytes and trace minerals will take you further, longer, and reward you with more movement of energy. The energy you bring is of deep significance in the process of sharing and exchanging energy with a partner.

Dr. Oz did well to bring these people to his stage and share them with the audience.

They let the food speak for itself and I hope there will be many more visits from these chefs to share their better recipes.

Harley Hardly an Expert on Nuts: Go Green With Pistachios

April 22nd, 2012

Harley is a trainer who fancies himself an expert on the health benefits of nuts. He stated that nuts are not good snacks, because they don’t provide much protein.

Harley is hardly an expert on nuts. While those of us who do know that nuts are an excellent healthy snack are enjoying the EFAs in our jewels; we can still admire the nut for having a little protein and a lot of crunch. Not all of us restrict our snacks to those that only provide protein… That would be a silly thought in and of itself, one that Harley would entertain.

In honor of Earth Day, we want to share a source for beautiful green pistachios with you.

Braga Organic Farms Inc

These flavorful little gems take some time to open individually, yet the reward is substantial as you chew the delicious morsel.

Pistachios are wonderful in desserts like baklava, puddings, and as toppings for ice cream or yogurt. There are endless ways to use pistachios when cooking, limited only by your own creativity. They can become the crust for fish, finish off a salad, and add texture to soft foods in so many ways that it leaves you enveloped in green ideas.

There is a commercial on TV for pistachios and while some of the scenarios are ridiculous, it still brings home the point that we love our pistachios, no matter what it takes to open the shell.

Go GREEN with organic Pistachios for Earth Day!

When Chefs Know More Than Doctors: Dr. Oz and Whole Grains

April 21st, 2012

Dr. Oz and his cohorts often make mistakes when telling you about Whole Grains.

Dr. Oz sounds like a broken record on whole wheat bread.

Chefs like Anne Burrell on the Food Network know more about whole grains than these doctors.

Today, she prepared a pork roast with a wheat berry dish to accompany it.

She has her recipe for wheat berries on her section of the Food network website and in her cookbook. You might be interested.

Wheat Berries with Mushrooms

Later today, Giada prepared a lentil loaf with brown rice as the whole grain, lentils, and vegetables that would be an ideal substitute for meatloaf.

Lentil Loaf

You’ll notice that these recipes have no bread in them…they use true whole grain goodness.

Let’s hope doctors get ‘on board’ with Whole Grains! The train has left the station.

Do not believe that the little white check leads you to whole grain goodness when it is only cereal and a marketing campaign that relies upon your ignorance to convince you that there are whole grains in that cereal box!

Bread and cereal are no longer whole grain foods…

Think like a chef, eat like a chef, and be healthier!

Dr. Oz Visits Tibetan Health Secrets to Tingle with the Transcendant

April 20th, 2012

Dr. Oz usually finds mysticism and spiritual paths to be far too esoteric for his audience; but today he explores the Tibetan Health Secrets that may make a profound difference for people.

Dr. Oz and Tibetan Health Secrets

No one is expected to drop what they are doing and find a monastary where they can practice; but there are some things that people can add to their daily lives to find improvements in health, attitude, and a sense of well-being with the ancient traditions from Tibet, India, and China.

In fact, it’s better to implement these ideas and techniques in the course of your day-to-day activities rather than to become secluded, deluded, and depressed when enlightenment takes years and lifetimes of discipline, practice, and detachment in accord with the old ways.

The Tibetan fanfare that goes with the secret techniques tends to distract the individual who gets caught up in the number of prostrations, the chants, the lineages, the steps on the Path that may not pertain to their incarnation or disposition to bring wakefulness needs to be taken into consideration.

It’s one thing to recognize the value of sound therapy, energy movement in and around the body, and a few rites, rituals, and beliefs to improve vitality, lengthen Lifespan, and know peace within. It’s quite another to believe that the system is complete. For example, Chakra is not the correct term to use for the energy centers in the body. They are called Seals and there are seven.

Tibetan Bowls use vibration to align the energy centers of the body. It is wrong to assume that it’s a release of negative energy, instead of restoring Balance. Sound through humming, singing, listening to music, and playing an instrument can all be substituted for the bowls. Resonance is a healing method that has deep significance for human bodies.

Guess what! All of your Seals are open and functioning. What is sought is Balance within each Seal. The five rites are comparable to basic Yoga positions. Movement, food, attitude, and the environment all impact the human being. This is why It’s all about a comprehensive Lifestyle, not just 5 rites.

Fenugreek Seed Tea is something we’ve shared with you for years. Cooking with it is a little more sophisticated, but you can watch the Spice Goddess on the Food network for recipes.

The first Seal is not red. There’s so much confusion about this. Red vibratory information in foods will interact with the third Seal in visible light. All of those colors of food shared by the expert with Dr. Oz relate to the Third Seal, not all seven. This ancient knowledge was lost and confused by many and it is evident here!

It takes more study of semantics and systems of Thought to sort through all of this, but take what makes sense to you and look at the rest carefully. Don’t give your power of reason away to a belief system that was passed on to those who cannot ‘see’ the energy, but only have words to describe it like the two people today. They are neophytes in this tradition.
