Krill Oil: The Superior Source for Phospholipids and Omega EFAs
Dr. Oz and TheDoctorsTV physicians talked about the importance of getting Omega 3’s and other EFAs for the health of your heart, brain, and the endocrine system this week. They suggest that you eat fish and consider using a fish oil supplement. But after doing some of my own research recently, I wanted to give you the skinny on Krill Oil as a superior source of Omega EFAs. It’s better than plain old fish oil capsules and even fish on your plate.
Let me explain. The way your body uses Essential Fatty Acids at the cellular level is of extreme significance. Just having these compounds in your body from your diet or from a nutritional supplement may not always guarantee the absorption and use of EFAs at the cellular level for strengthening the structure of your tissue.
Krill Oil is different in this regard. Krill Oil supplies these necessary EFAs in a manner that allows for the phospholipids of the cell wall to utilize them properly and efficiently. When you take Krill Oil, your body has a much easier time of using the compounds to strengthen the cells due to the phospholipids and this ‘mechanism of action’.
When I initially heard about Krill Oil, it seemed like a gimmick for promoting another supplement from the sea. I love our oceans and promote the sustainable use of fish, sea vegetables, sea salt, and the natural sources of EFAs from fish. So now I am adding Krill to this List. At first, the sheer effort of harvesting so many tiny krill seemed unsustainable, yet now it appears that my concerns are no longer a problem.
Now, Krill Oil can be obtained in a sustainable way that keeps human and our oceans healthy and thriving. So…it works for me to now begin to recommend Krill Oil as a viable source for EFAs.
I trust VitalChoice and the organizations that certify the sustainability aspect of resources from our seas. Not only does VitalChoice offer the best wild salmon and organic foods, but now they are offering the highest quality of Krill Oil on the market.
You can still rely upon your other whole food sources of EFAs and it will always remain a good idea to have a variety of food sources of EFAs on a weekly basis. So don’t forget the flaxseed oil, the chia seeds, the nuts, the seeds, and the foods like avocado and healthy oils. A balanced diet with whole foods really does contribute to a healthy Lifestyle.
By the way, Dr. Raj, the author of “What the Yuck”, talked about the burping problems associated with many low quality fish oil supplements. I have not heard that Krill Oil causes any burping, so if this is an issue for you, try the Krill Oil and use it to replace your other fish oil supplements. Remember that oil and water don’t mix easily when taking your capsules, making it a good idea to swallow your capsules with a vegetable or fruit smoothie, soymilk, coconut milk, or almond milk…instead of a glass of water. You’ll find that is a better solution than freezing the capsules.
