Healthy Travel Tips
It’s Summer and you are “On the Go”! You are in the car, on the bike, walking, kayaking, hiking, on a picnic, or exploring somewhere far from home. So…here are some quick and simple travel tips to make your Summer Sojourns healthy.
First, find a colorful easy to carry container for your water, It needs to be washable, unbreakable, and it helps if it will float when you’re on the water. Keep it full of pure water, sip regularly, and refill it every night before you head off to bed to be ready for tomorrow. Second, get a second container of a different color, same features, and fill it with either juice, herbal tea, or almond milk (soy milk works, too). This gives you some variety, some calories, some protein, and some electrolytes. Take a few packs of Vital18 to add to the milk or fruit juice. Replenish your fluids, especially after extreme sports!
Next, set aside a small backpack loaded with snacks and goodies to nibble on while you’re on the road or away for the entire day. Don’t go all day without refueling with some yummy stuff like fruit and fruit leather, dried fruit, chips, nuts, pumpkin or sunflower seeds, or some protein bars. Have an assortment of salty and sweet items to suit your mood.
Finally, always remember to keep some loose change or a debit card handy, in case you need to stock up for longer excursions while you’re on the road. Perhaps you decide to extend your trip, take a detour, or find yourself in some wild and crazy situation that requires you to stay out longer than originally planned! Be ready for any amount of excitement and wonderful surprises…and your Summer will be one to remember as a healthy time well spent!
