Healthy Grilling!

Grilling lends itself to chemical reactions that set up the potentials for cancer-causing free radicals and cellular damage from the intense heat and the char on the food. Even though you can compensate for this successfully, just don’t forget to give your body the extra that it needs to handle the load.

Grilling tends to alter the nature of the external surface of the food that is changed chemically from intense heat.  It is unavoidable…even if minimized by cooking on the cooler side of the Grill.  That helps, but it isn’t enough to make it as healthy as it needs to be!  Before you even get to the point of grilling, you should have swallowed your extra vitamin C and E.  Better yet…you would have already taken your SOD (Super Oxide Dismutase) and your flaxseed oil to maintain cellular integrity.  Even if you only spritz with the liquid Pine Bark extract spray…you will have done so prior to eating grilled food.

In addition to the anti-oxidants to address this charring situation; there is the other consideration of the chemicals used to fire the flame and the substance that is providing the heat. Is it charcoal? Did you use lighter fluid to start the fire? Is it wood? Did you use paper with ink and dye to light the fire? Did you clean the Grill before you began?  The materials and substances that are part of the Grilling world are IMPORTANT!  Choose wisely…choose natural!

Use natural materials to Grill. The way our ancestors did it in the woods works well…  Learning to make fire from real materials from the natural world is an artform that will serve you well over the course of your Life – even in survival situations during emergencies!

Get good stainless steel or wooden utensils…not plastic or polymers.  Either invest in a new-fangled expensive feature-rich Grill with all the bells and whistles…or go back to the Pit with the most natural materials you can find, but don’t settle for man-made plastics or aluminum, unless you are willing to deal with the extra toxicity from this stuff as well!

Plan ahead…with a smart Plan…and grill to your heart’s content!
