Have You Noticed the Commercials While Dr. Oz and TheDoctorsTV is on the Air? Weird Advertising for a Health-Conscious Audience
If it’s not Lovaza, it’s Align. If it’s not for male sexual performance, it’s for high blood pressure. These commercials get old very quickly, but the marketing departments are advertising to a captive audience that the ad company thinks care about medical issues.
What these over-paid ad execs have failed to realize is that the audience that watches Dr. Oz and TheDoctorsTV are health-conscious, not drug deprived.
Most of us who watch already know that drugs are not the ideal solution that they were once believed to be. No, we’ve come a long way, baby!
The audience on these two shows have realized that a healthy Lifestyle is the way to go now. They are more interested in alternatives, options, other choices, and ways to completely make a detour around the drugged-out route to medical care. Hey, even Dr. Travis and his cohorts agreed that people are too dependent and too conditioned to reach for drugs. They spent one hour telling people about the risks of medications gone wild.
Let’s look at the stupidity of the commercial for Lovaza. “You can’t get it at a health food store.” The guy who says this is right. We don’t want to get your drug at a health food store. We don’t want your drugs…period! Just the side-effects that this same guy mentions along with his colleague is enough to make us run to the health food store to purchase Fish Oil capsules or Flax Seed Oil. The makers of Lovaza have ruined the source material for their drug, but want to claim that it will give people the same health benefits – but that’s not the truth. They have fundamentally changed the bio-energetic nature of fish oil. They can label it, promote it, sell it, and hope people consume it to sell their brand, their drug, their story…but that drug won’t do what fish oil does. The drug may have some common chemical components, but the bio-energetic signature is NOT identical. Thus, the human body will not respond the same way as it does to fish or fish oil as a nutritional supplement. Sorry, guys; but that’s the way it is. You can keep your Lovaza and use it to wax the floors…
It’s almost the same ridiculous premise that the marketers are using to sell you on Align. They think that you are going to fall for a patent on an ingredient that is similar to what occurs in nature. Is it preferable to take a drug or eat yogurt? You know the answer to that question. You eat yogurt.
Perhaps the ad agency will get a clue and pay a consultant to put their employees on a Corporate Wellness Program. Then they may have the mental clarity to market to an appropriate audience or develop an appropriate ad for the Dr. Oz and DoctorsTV audiences. That’ll be the day!
