Earth Hour: Turn Off Your Electric Lights and Light Up with a Soy Candle!
All across the World in many countries, governments, businesses and individuals will be turning off their electric lights and appliances for another Hour…just like they did last year!
371 towns and 26 major cities in 35 countries with 3500 businesses have agreed to participate…and landmarks could go “dark” as people practice what they say will make an impact on energy consumption and Climate Change on our Planet. It all begins at 0900 GMT (that’s 8 pm) on March 29th!
It started in Sydney one year ago and has spread around the World. Hopefully, once you get the idea, it will happen every day and night for you, too! 2.2 million people participated last year and perhaps with you “on board” today, we will surpass last year’s figures and cut electricity usage by more than 10 percent.
So…cut the lights and create a beautiful flame using a healthy soy candle that doesn’t pollute instead! Candlelight is transcendent and will lift your Spirit while you save electricity. Do your part every day and night and get some candles to burn when you actually need to shed a little light on any subject in your space!
Make your own Candles as you, too, become a Daily Global Participant in Earth Hour!
It has begun, just moments ago in Australia and New Zealand along with the fine folks in Fiji! The Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are “dark” as are almost all of the businesses and public facilities in the area as people rally to the Cause. Wow!!
In Manila, people are having Dinner by Candlelight. People in Thailand are cheering as their Hour is near! There is a green movie being played in an outdoor theater and bar staff are donning solar powered hats.
One bar is giving people a free beer if they bring in a black balloon as a symbol of their neutral carbon footprint. One restaurant is offering candlelight cooking lessons! It’s truly amazing how creative people are when it comes to these novel ideas!
Google is going Black and asking searchers to turn off their lights. As the Hour sweeps through the South Pacific, Asia, and then on to Europe and the Americas, we’ll continue to see major cities and small towns dim their lights as so many get involved this year. San Fransisco will dim the Golden Gate Bridge as one of the last cities in the later Time Zones.
Individuals DO have a powerful influence on our collective behavior and willingness to actually make a difference as part of the Solution to Climate Change and Energy Use at a critical time for our Planet and our People. I salute each of you who are turning off your Lights…You Are the “Light of the World” and your Spirit shines by your example!
