Dr. Oz: Cool as a Cucumber During the Hot Days of Summer

Dr. Oz is finding that his audience is looking for more healthy and natural solutions to maintaining their well-being throughout the year.

Summer has some people seeking out cooler climes to escape the heat, but there are ways to cool the human body using the bio-energetic nature of whole foods. This knowledge is common in the folklore of many cultures and has found a way into our languages and the phrases we use to express ourselves.

The phrase, “Cool as a Cucumber” originates where people understood that the cucumber had a cooling nature. It lubricates, it promotes fluids to circulate in the body, and it is cooling in a way that genuinely refreshes the body. We like to slice our cucumbers, add some diced onions, and season it with a little sea salt along with a dash of apple cider vinegar.

Cucumbers are great in salads, vegetable Smoothies, and rice dishes that feature raw vegetables. We love to cool down a pot of organic brown rice; then we dice cucumber, carrot, purple cabbage, purple onions, celery, daikon, and garnish it with scallions and cilantro or parsley. We often season the rice dish with garlic or other spices like paprika. If you want it to be cooling, then don’t use spices like cumin or cayenne. If you want to make the rice dish more neutral, then use thyme, oregano, and other warming spices to flavor the rice dish.

Milk and other dairy products are cooling in nature. We recommend knowing the cow and being able to call your cow by name when you are getting fresh milk. You can always combine your cucumbers with sour cream. If you insist upon consuming cow’s milk, then a good organic granola or whole grain cereal is going to be a reasonable pairing of foods.

Peppermint is very cooling and you can drink peppermint iced tea or use some drops of the Essential Oils of Peppermint to cool the body. Wintergreen and spearmint are cooling, too.

Temperature isn’t always the way to measure the cooling nature of foods and beverages; the bio-energetic nature of a food or drink will do more to cool the interior of your body than a cold item.

One other thing that you can do to cool your body during the extreme hot days of summer is to spritz with a blend of Essential Oils and water. Although they usually don’t blend well, you can create a cooling spritzer of peppermint, chamomile, and structured water. Bio-Water makes one ready to use. It’s extremely refreshing and it feels great without having to find air conditioning or taking a plunge in a cold pool!

You can find an inner state of Balance that will keep you feeling great during the summer heat.

  1. Holo Water Says:

Thanks for the tip on the peppermint and chamomile.

    I will try it.

However, would not the chamomile put you to sleep?

I put chamomile tea bags wetted with structured water on my eyes at night to get almost instant sleep after a tough day.

    Peace.
