Dr. Oz and the One Dollar Diet: Help Paula Dean Beat the Butter Addiction, Learn to Live Well with Whole Foods, and Don’t Sabotabe Your Well-Being for a Buck
Dr. Oz had the Dean Brothers talk about their journey to preparing healthier meals on a budget while helping their mother, Paula Dean, to beat the butter addiction habit. Now, mind you, a little organic butter every now and then is OK, but there are much better alternatives to slathering butter on every piece of bread in sight or to add sticks to dishes that serve to make your blood as thick as sludge. Butter is not better than healthy oils like olive oil, hemp oil, avocado oil, and other nut and seed oils.
I should know. I used to put two or three pats of butter on my mashed potatoes, because that’s what everyone did in the old restaurant style that stemmed from all those old Swanson TV Dinners and the Steakhouses that were so popular several decades ago. You can get just as much flavor with herbs and spices while eliminating the unnecessary fats when you use a little imagination.
Whether it’s mashed potatoes with garlic and a splash of balsamic vinegar or smashed sweet potatoes with a savory vinaigrette; you will find that healthy oils and organic seasonings are going to help you reach and maintain your ideal weight and body shape. The thermogenic qualities of cayenne, cumin, thyme, oregano, and other spices will boost your metabolism and contribute true flavor to your meals.
It’s amazing that the Dean Brothers can make the switch and can offer you a magazine with recipes to help you make the incredible leap from limp biscuits with big bellies to a sleek figure with strong internal organs and systems. You’ll be able to laugh and love with the best of the cooks on the planet who enjoy a plant-based diet of whole foods.
You need to remember the cardinal rule: Never sabotage your health and well-being to save a buck. It’s the most important tip that we can share with you today while you are thinking that one dollar is the most you should spend to eat a healthy meal that will help you manage your middle.
The bucks you save with poor choices of processed or packaged foods will really cost you when you are facing the expenses of dealing with cancer or other degenerative diseases. Even that stupid suggestion to buy canned salmon will cost you dearly. There just isn’t as much Life Force or chi in canned foods and you should only rely upon canned goods during a food shortage or a natural disaster when you do not have access to fresh fish or fresh produce.
Fresh Salmon and Tuna are essential for the real health benefits from these fish. Don’t skimp on these, nor your fruits or vegetables….fresh is better than frozen which is better than canned. If you really need an alternative to fresh; then go for dehydrated or freeze-dried fruits or vegetables in Food Storage quality items. Your health is worth more than your laziness to shop for fresh whole foods!
Some of the suggestions that cost one dollar or less per serving were sound and smart. The organic brown rice and tulapia are good foods which will save you money while contributing to your health. Whole grains are very inexpensive when you buy them in bulk. You can save a lot of pennies when you buy nuts and seeds in the bulk aisle; but be very careful to avoid rancid foods that have been in the bin for too long.
When you buy from some of our affiliate partners, you’ll save even more money while being guaranteed freshness of the items that come direct from the manufacturers warehouses. That will save you more dollars and keep you in good shape, so you don’t have to diet. You can live a healthy Lifestyle at your ideal weight and body size with whole foods and fresh produce and fish.

Really proficient post. Theoretically I could write something like this too, but taking the time and effort to make a good article is a lot of effort…but what can I say….I’m a procrastinater. Good read though.
