Dr. Oz and Soothing a Sore Throat, VitalChoice for Salmon, Sauerkraut and Cancer Prevention, and the Frustration with Food Choices
On today’s Dr. Oz show, the good physician found Slippery Elm lozenges that are ideal for soothing a sore throat. The herb is gelatinous and coats the throat which helps to soothe the sensitive membranes that have become inflamed due to infection.
While the Slippery Elm lozenges soothe the irritation, it is essential to address the infectious agent whether it is viral or bacterial. There are two products that will do the trick. Nutri-Biotics can be mixed with purified water and gargled every hour until the soreness is gone. The Essential Oils of Oregano, Thyme, Lemon, Rosewood, and Melaleuca or Tea Tree Oil can be used separately or in rotation by diffusing the EOs into your home or office and placing several drops on your wrist and inhaling them gently every few hours until you feel complete relief in your throat and anywhere else there is discomfort.
VitalChoice for Salmon and Sustainable Wild Fish, Organic Chocolate, and Berries
Dr. Oz told us that he loves the wild salmon from VitalChoice. We do, too! You can get frozen salmon and other wild seafood that is sustainably-harvested delivered directly to your door by this fantastic company. We’ve promoted their products for several years and you can trust the quality of the foods you order from VitalChoice. The best organic Chocolate Bars and frozen organic berries can be found on their website along with many other fantastic natural foods. The company also carries the best Krill Oil as well. You’ll find a wealth of good information on their website and it just might become one of your favorite places to purchase whole foods!
Dr. Oz loves organic Popcorn from Trader Joe’s which is a national chain that carries many healthy foods. It makes it easy to buy a quick organic snack, but you will do better to get organic popcorn and pop your own at home, add a pinch of sea salt, and some spices to jazz up your salty treat. Popcorn and so many other gluten-free foods make perfect skinny snacks when they are organic, minimally processed, and fresh.
A few days ago, Dr. Oz and his production crew finally…finally…featured Sauerkraut as one fermented food that is better than raw cabbage for prevention when it comes to cancer and other degenerative diseases. It was curious to me that the two women who were the audience members who were playing the game did NOT know that Sauerkraut is made from cabbage! Can you believe it? People are oblivious… Well, at least this is the first time that I have heard Dr. Oz describe the obvious health benefits of fermented foods. Don’t stop with Sauerkraut when there are so many fantastic vegetables that are fermented and excellent for your digestive health.
If you are frustrated with your food choices when it comes to finding healthy alternatives, then some of the recipes that guests on the show today can offer you some decent options. Although they take more time to prepare, they are healthier for you than the common foods from the grocery store. However, if you run short on time; then order from Gluten-Free Foods and you’ll find many of these items ready-to-eat.
Do not use cinnamon or cayenne in capsule form as Dr. Oz suggested today. That is NOT the best way to use these spices for your health and wellness. In fact, it can result in gastric distress, especially if you don’t drink enough water or have stomach problems to begin with…not such a good idea from the Land of Oz!
Cinnamon is better utilized when you bake, make cinnamon sugar to use as a glaze for foods, or apply Cinnamon as an Essential Oil with a diffuser or blended with a carrier oil when putting directly on the human body.
Cayenne is better used in cooking and food preparation. It goes perfectly well in whole grain and vegetable dishes. Don’t go overboard with cayenne, because too much is almost as problematic as too little heat from this spice. Remember that Balance in all things is your goal…
You can get fresh organic cayenne from Frontier and it doesn’t get any better than this! The banner below will take you to the Frontier website where you can get any spice or seasoning blend for cooking, dips, sauces, and adding to any dish. Please think of the spices that Dr. Oz discusses as foods, instead of perceiving them as drugs like Dr. Oz does when he recommends capsules!
