Dr. Oz and Foods That Change Angiogenesis Which Alters the Growth of Cancer

The blood supply to the site where cancer cells are growing inside a person’s body is being studied to determine if there are certain foods that can prevent or slow the process of angiogenesis from feeding the cancer.

So far, so good. The research was shared with Dr. Oz today about the work being done to see what a few of the most likely foods can do to stop this onslaught of growth in cancer.

The foods are of interest to me. It’s curious that many of the things that I’ve told you in the past few years are echoed here with this doctor’s research into this subject.

Dr. Oz and his guest doctor shared the following foods that have the potential to be part of the research with a large group of people.

Bok Choi

Put Bok Choi in your stir fry dishes. The younger shoots can be easily sliced and don’t leave the green leafy area out of your stir fry! In addition to Bok Choi, use other dark leafy greens in your regular diet.

Strawberries

We talk about berries all the time. The berries need to be organic and preferably fresh, although you can use frozen berries when out-of-season. In addition to strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, marionberries, and gooseberries are excellent choices in Smoothies, fruit salads, or plain.

Artichokes

If you’ve never steamed an artichoke and dipped the tips in a garlic aoili, you haven’t lived! Artichoke hearts and hearts of palm are excellent additions to salads, pasta dishes, vegetable dishes, and dips.

Flounder

White fish is second to salmon and sardines when it comes to the value of fish which provide EFAs, specifically omega 3s. Salmon is still my favorite, but flounder, halibut, and cod are all good choices. You have to take into consideration the freshness of the fish and find fish that are sustainably harvested in the purest ocean waters as possible. Steam your fish or bake it with herbs, spices, and healthy oils like olive oil. Lemon and dill are great for adding flavor to your fish.

Tomatoes

Cooking tomatoes with olive oil, baking them, or preparing a marinara sauce are good methods for making tomatoes a part of your regular diet. You can also add tomatoes to salads, stews, soups, vegetable dishes, whole grain dishes, and sliced for inclusion on sandwiches. You can make a delicious appetizer with mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, and sliced tomatoes or make a pizza with these ingredients using soy cheese and parm which is an old favorite for those of us who are Italian. Sprinkle oregano and enhance your tomatoes with roasted garlic cloves for even better taste and nutrition.

The other foods that Dr. Oz discusses on his website include soyfoods, cinnamon, Green Tea, and chocolate. Miso Soup is going to be your best choice and raw organic cacao will be the ideal chocolate for your health and well-being.

These are not the only foods that you would include in your culinary tool chest to reduce the risk of cancer, but they are being identified as the ones to use in the research study.

I am glad to see that Dr. Oz is contributing this quality of information to his audience and we hope that he changes his own diet to include these foods as well as those we discussed yesterday.
