Dr. Oz and Cheating When Eating: Who’s Telling the Truth?

This young boy has two irresponsible parents who are NOT setting a good example for their son. They cheat when they eat. They hide what they eat from the other members of their family. They cannot even be truthful with SELF, let alone with the people that they live with every day! How can people expect to lead fulfilling lives when they cheat themselves and their loved ones all the time?

It’s impossible! It’s unrealistic! It can’t continue without lasting damage.

The toll cheating takes on a child can affect a young person throughout the rest of their lives. They will struggle with food-related issues as they grow into adulthood and this imbalance will carry over to other areas of their lives. Already this young boy suffers at the hands of his classmates and is the subject of ridicule, teasing, and bullying which affects his self-image. It’s disgusting that people can’t care enough to stop the abusive behavior right in its tracks!

First let’s start with the parents. The father. Is he in denial? Is he willing to face the music? Will he be able to make changes with the spotlight placed upon him on TV? Let’s hope so…

The blood sugar numbers will hit home. This is the future of what the father’s choices hold in store for his son. He is going to model his father’s behavior and it won’t bode well for him unless he realizes that it self-defeating and unsustainable.

Now for his liver numbers. Not so good! He’s in trouble. The father cannot possibly be setting the pace for a healthy family life with these numbers and the conditions of his deteriorating body. I would stare that father in the eye and point blank ask him why he can’t CARE enough to make this the day he changes and finds some self-control and behavior management. This must be for his son’s sake, in addition to his own health. Does he really want to hold his son in the trappings of excuses and hidden lies of cheating? This is like a sinking ship with no way off the boat. There are no liferafts for this family. Can Dr. Oz get through to them?

What does it take for some people to change? Pain? Surgery? Loss of life? Being shunned by one’s peers? Ridicule by students who are in the halls everyday poking fun at your foibles? It’s simply an unflattering situation that has no easy answers. This boy is one of hundreds of thousands who face the same challenges to his health, his standing in his family, and his position in his social network. He is at a crossroads in his young life. Change…or go downhill until it all looks up from the bottom of the heap.

Fortunately, the Dr. Oz show has producers who can facilitate professional help for such individuals and families. Here comes the posse…

Now…once they get the assistance of the experts; it is going to be up to the family members to ‘live it’ every day in their homes, in their schools, and in their hidden moments when they have to decide to continue to lie to themselves or to tell the truth and act on that truth.

Being in control of your choices is of paramount importance! If this young fellow, his father and mother, and even those who touch this family’s lives can surmount the odds of failing and make little changes in their attitudes; they CAN change and redirect the course of their individual and collective lives. It takes a change in attitude along with exercise, eating, and communication to be successful for a lasting change.

Good Luck, not only to this family; but to all the people who mirror this situation!

Quit cheating while eating..you harm yourself and those you claim to love. Be true to yourself, be good to yourself, and eat for health and long life!
