Dr. Oz and Artificial Sweeteners Plus Our Natural Alternatives for Healthy Sweetness
Dr. Oz carefully outlined the health risks associated with the use of artificial sweeteners and you should discontinue the consumption of any of the three types, all of the brands, and any foods or drinks processed with these harmful chemical additives. You do have a healthy natural choice and Dr. Oz mentioned three of our favorites: Blue Agave Syrup, Honey, and Stevia.
Dr. Oz went on to talk about the preference for butter over margarine which we agree with, although we like the soy butter substitute much better than either butter or margarine. We will NEVER suggest that you ever use margarine, but we will tell you that if you choose butter, just be sure that you select organic butter. Don’t ever use the spray propellant oils, but if you fill a spray container with healthy oils, then a few spritzes are an excellent alternative to drizzling oil in a pan.
Avocado, coconut, and olive oil along with some seed and nut oils are the best healthy oils to use for cooking and salad dressing or even your garlic bread spread.
Back to natural sweeteners, it is important to make your own whole foods and beverages taste sweet with honey, maple syrup, date sugar, organic cane sugar, blue agave syrup, and stevia. They are plenty sweet and you can prepare whole foods and bake with them without changing the texture or the flavor of most recipes. Some stevia will have an after-taste, but there are stevia brands that are only sweet; so experiment and determine which ones you like the best.
If you want to avoid the onset of Diabetes, Cancer, and other degenerative diseases; then you will adopt a plant-based healthy whole foods diet, especially when your choices are based upon raw organic foods. People who have gone to a raw foods diet have reversed and eliminated Diabetes and other critical health issues when they are strict and careful.
Your brain is also at risk from artificial chemicals that compose the ingredients in artificial sweeteners. I have NEVER found one person whose brain readings were balanced when testing any artificial sweetener and all of the brands alter the brain’s biochemistry.
Honestly, fresh fruit is sweet and wonderful. If you will re-program your taste buds to find fruit to be sweet enough, your body will begin to balance the metabolism of carbohydrates. A good fruit salad with a variety of fresh organic fruits will satisfy you so completely. Organic fruit tastes better and sweeter than fruit that is grown with synthetic fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides, and other agricultural chemicals. I promise that you’ll notice and taste the difference!
Don’t be fooled by the labeling which can hide artificial sweeteners in soft drinks and processed foods. You can juice fresh organic fruit and the taste is fantastic! We’ve given you many alternatives for soft fizzy drinks that are sweetened with healthy sweeteners like Reed’s Ginger Brew, China Cola, and Brain Toniq which you can keep on hand for the times when you don’t have time to juice.
Natural sweetness is something that goes beyond advertising, weight management, and sheer taste alone. Your health and wellness depends upon your choices for whole foods and natural beverages.
