Dr. Mercola and the Bad Advice Blues

Sometimes I read the articles that Dr. Mercola writes and I suffer from the Bad Advice Blues; then again there are days when he does make a decent point.

He made me sing the Bad Advice Blues again today after reading what he had to say about Angelina Jolie’s comment about the difficulty of being a healthy vegetarian. The last time he had me singing the Blues was when he was incorrectly critical of blue agave syrup.

He…or whoever authored his article about Angelina Jolie couldn’t possibly know how well or how poorly she ate when she was in her vegetarian stage of food plan choices. Clearly, to make a blanket statement about a vegetarian diet makes me realize that Mercola or his staff who write these incomplete articles don’t ‘walk the talk’ and write before they live it.

It’s utterly ridiculous to dismiss a vegetarian diet by concluding that it wasn’t the best choice for a young woman who is known for having a lot going on in her busy life. Does anyone even know what she ate every day when she was a vegetarian? Does anyone truly know what she meant by her comment? It might have almost killed her to spend so much time in the kitchen… Mercola does not have access to this detailed information. I doubt that he has Angelina’s or Brad’s personal phone number to ask her about the reasons behind her comment.

There’s usually much more to the story than people imagine. It’s not all black beans and white rice! It’s not as if she only ate vegetables…or is it? You don’t know and I will bet a great vegetarian meal that Mercola doesn’t actually have the facts direct from Angelina herself!

It bothers me that people parade as experts and sway a reader’s mind when they don’t have the experience to make definitive conclusions like this. It does more harm than good.

He needs to stop doing that…

I reluctantly realize that he would rather get on his high horse and pontificate about some topic than settle for helping each individual make the choices that are right for them.

It’s true that not all people are geared to live as vegetarians. It takes a large amount of time and care in the planning, preparation, and immersion in the quality of one’s food and beverage choices. It’s one thing to have an OPINION about a vegetarian diet and it’s quite another thing to work with an individual to determine if a vegetarian food plan is suitable for their healthy Lifestyle. There are no simple, written-in-stone answers that apply to everyone and vegetarianism.

No blanket statements fit this choice of being a healthy, vibrant vegetarian. It’s a Lifestyle, not a brand. Get real, Mercola!

Laura Croft would go to the ends of the earth to search for the truth…

I am humming the Bad Advice Blues, so maybe you can sing your own tune, walk to the beat of your own drummer, and enjoy delicious healthy vegetarian food whenever you get the chance!
