Today’s DoctorsTV show ran ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ with the advice ranging from how to properly warm milk in a bottle to the reasons why it is important to use cold to reduce inflammation and pain in an injured joint. Dr. Travis quipped, “Getting healthy is HOT!”
Whether you think it’s cool to be healthy or want to be hot on the latest trends in health and wellness, the temperature runs the full spectrum.
It is my strong opinion that you should not be drinking any liquid at extremely cold temperatures. The body has to expend an enormous amount of energy to warm that liquid to body temperature before it can be properly digested and transported through the digestive system. It’s not a smart thing to do…to wash down a soda pop that is frosty and nearly frozen with ice crystals forming on the inside of the mug and water droplets on the outside. Neither is it advisable to drink extremely hot beverages…you can be burned and damage the tender tissue in your mouth, esophagus, and stomach. It is ideal to drink fluids like milk, juice, tea, and other beverages – even water – at room temperature. If you need to cool down on a hot summer day, then take a damp cloth dunked in ice water and wipe off your face and midriff. You’ll feel cool immediately. Your tea and coffee can be warm, but not scalding hot. Don’t freak out your body with extreme temperatures.
I liked it when Dr. Travis explained that cold is used in an acute injury, whereas a warm compress or hot water bottle is good for increasing circulation and relaxing muscles. Now we just need to help him with the exact location of the uterus for a warm hot water bottle when his women experience menstrual cramps.
Those acupuncture points and techniques that Dr. Oz showed to reduce stress will also help with cramping of muscles. If you have headaches or other pain, then acupuncture and massage therapy is one of the kindest services you can give to yourself. Dr. Oz also shared a segment on gallstones with his Soap Opera guests. The answer he gave was insufficient, although it was funny. Cold foods like dairy products and iceberg lettuce will energetically ‘contract’ due to their cooling or cold bio-energetic natures, so gallstones can form as can kidney stones. Pain ensues…
A diet that is comprised of more alkaline foods will limit the formation and often reverse the formation of these stones, especially if you take your pearl powder with your other sources of calcium.
If you still can’t figure out what to do naturally for those horrendous gallstones; then blend a little black cherry concentrate with purified water and honey two to three times a week and you’ll notice a difference. Don’t overdo this at first until you are sure you’ve dissolved the larger stones or else you can pass them too quickly before they have had the time to dissolve…becoming small enough to gently pass through the delicate pathways to be eliminated. If you do this too quickly, then you’ll most likely have a lot more unnecessary pain. Not smart at all… LOL
Go for the ambient temperature of your body…gently warm for most food, liquids, and soothing baths. Anytime you use too much heat or too much cold, you will unintentionally create an imbalance. Be wise…be in Balance!
