DoctorsTV and Twigs, the Mediterranean Diet, and the Master Cleanse

honestly, sometimes you give credit where credit is due…and sometimes you clarify misinformation which can be easily discussed to dispell the illusions of an uninformed opinion or point-of-view. Such is the case right now with Dr. Travis on TheDoctorsTV.

Dr. Travis is a bright young ER physician who just published a book and shared one chapter online. Dr. Travis states that he wants to help people become their own best advocate and health guru to enjoy Optimal Health and Wellness. I believe him.

However, he is mistaken about people like me who insist upon eating Whole Foods, organic produce, and taking nutritional supplements along with other natural substances to ensure our Well-Being with a healthy Lifestyle.

I would like to correct Dr. Travis and his perception that we eat twigs. I don’t eat twigs and the last time I checked, most of my colleagues do not consume twigs. Dr. Travis wrote in his book that some people take their health regimen too far. Eating twigs might represent that in some circles… LOL

Hey, Travis, we do eat roots like burdock root…shaving it and slicing it into a variety of dishes. But twigs? That’s funny, dude!

Now…let’s be clear about this topic of twigs. There are many herbal formulations that use this part of a plant to restore Balance through the bio-energetic nature of the bark and the nutrients contained in the plant material which comprises the twig. Although we don’t sit at the dining room table chewing on twigs, we do enjoy our cinnamon whether it is distilled into Essential Oils or ground into cinnamon powder for addition to a variety of foods. We are not fanatics, we are simply rational and practical in the manner by which we approach every choice in our lives. It works very well for us.

This doesn’t mean that you should not give yourself permission to enjoy twigs or any food choice you might make that you have a negative attitude toward on occasion. The way you feel about the food and drink that you put into your body does, in fact, make a difference. This is basic science at the psychological and spiritual level. We are so astute to even go so far as to place symbols and words on our water bottles which alters the bio-energetic nature of the way our bodies use the water we drink. Dr. Emoto and our other colleagues can enlighten you in this regard. Dr. Travis…you are only beginning to understand the power of the Body, Mind, Spirit connection. Please continue to pursue this area of interest and encourage others to explore their Inner World which will bring them genuine and authentic Well-Being in every aspect of their lives.

Dr. Travis mentions that he always looks for the research and science when investigating topics for the TV show or for his own personal edification when he encounters concepts, methods, and approaches to health and Wellness. While there isn’t enough money in the world to conduct all the scientific studies we would love to see performed to prove our experiences; suffice it to say that there are countless generations of people living in Europe and Asia who are excellent examples of the validity of the Mediterranean diet. Even the case histories of those who have used the Master Cleanse for detoxification have useful data that can be shared among health professionals and health care providers. Dr. Bernard Jensen and I were acquainted and he certainly deserves your respect. He was well-known in our holistic health circles and he assisted many people regain their health and trained many people to help others in their chosen profession.

You must understand that the return on the amount of money it would take to conduct a longitudinal study on the Master Cleanse is not something of interest to a pharmaceutical company. It will never happen. This is precisely the point of a healthy Lifestyle…with an individualized approach to Optimal Health and Wellness.

The princess of Jordan appeared on The View yesterday and told a story about the book she has written comparing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with her hummus sandwich she regularly ate as a child in school. She had judged the value of the two sandwiches without having ever tasted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She learned a powerful lesson about preconceived notions and now she enjoys both types of sandwiches. We love hummus, but instead of spreading it on bread; we take our fresh vegetables and a leaf of cabbage to eat with our hummus and baba ghanoush. We know you’ve had hummus with carrots on TheDoctorsTV show, since we saw a bowl adorned with those lovely orange carrots.

All in all…we are extraordinarily pleased that a television show like TheDoctorsTV is on the air sharing traditional and progressive health ideas with the public. Dr. Oz is doing the same thing by providing a valuable service with knowledge and entertainment intertwined to make good TV. While we primarily reach specific individuals, you are able to reach millions; so you have a great responsibility to expand your horizons and explore all of these wonderful health approaches and methods that people around the world have been sharing for generations. You are the next generation of Western Medical physicians who can integrate all of these ways to educate, inspire, and nourish people as they pursue their life paths toward Wellness and Well-Being.
