Kroger Recall of Onion Soup Mix and Dip with Salmonella: Alternative Dip and Soup Mixes for Your Health
Kroger announced today that they were recalling their onion soup and dip mix and the beefy onion soup and dip mix due to Salmonella contamination.
There have been no reports of illness, but if people have these mixes it is important that they NOT eat them and return them for a replacement or a refund. We suggest a refund.
The stores where these mixes are on the shelves are at Krogers, Dillons, Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Smith’s, Food 4 Less, Jay C, Scott’s, Owen’s, Baker’s, Gerbes, Hilander, and Pay Less. The stores affected are primarily in the eastern part of the country.
Earlier this month, burritos and granola bars were recalled and it just seems that there continues to be a risk of some pathogen in many of these packaged dip mixes and processed foods.
The way to reduce one’s risk is to purchase from companies who pride themselves with their outstanding commitment to quality control. In my experience, it generally is demonstrated by companies who share a philosophy of health and wellness have fewer issues or incidences with contamination. There is more care taken in the policies and procedures in the manufacturing process. Even when a health-oriented brand is acquired by a large conglomerate company, the quality goes downhill.
The ideal solution is to have EAV equipment to test foods for pathogens, but in the absence of such sophisticated equipment, it becomes necessary to place one’s trust and confidence in the companies’ brands that you purchase. The better the reputation and past performance, the greater the likelihood that the products will continue to be safe and reliably consistent in quality.
We want to give you alternatives and options when you are faced with having to make choices about which brands and which companies deserve and have earned our and eventually your trust and business. We have direct experience with Frontier and have a high level of confidence that you will also find their dip and soup mixes to be excellent and meet your highest expectations.
Frontier has a variety of mixes for healthy dips and seasoning blends that can be added to soups, stews, sauces, and dressings. I have used many of these mixes for marinades and as a base for my gravies and sauces.
Frontier’s French Onion Dip and French Onion Soup mix are great alternatives to the common grocery store brands. The Onion Soup and Dip mix suggests that in addition to dip, the mix can season casseroles, meatloaf, burgers, and blended with roasted potatoes. If you love onions, then you’ll love this mix!
One of the things that you can generally count on making a difference between mixes that are organic is that the flavor is stronger, more pronounced, and more satisfying than in common grocery stores brands. Your taste buds will most definitely appreciate this difference as well as getting more natural nutrients from the source of the ingredients. Real food and real spices truly make a flavor difference that you will notice!
You’ll be spoiled once you experiment with the other mixes and seasoning blends for both sweet and savory dishes. The ingredients will surprise you at times, but you will usually be coming back for more. Check out the blends for gravies and sauces, too. If you are searching for a good alternative for a base for broths, soups, and stews; then you can find some delicious bases at Frontier. When you order online with us, you are assured of freshness. This also reduces the chance of contamination or risking that any ingredient might be rancid. The flavor will be enhanced to the point that you won’t settle for stale old mixes ever again.
