Dr. Oz Reveals Healthy Alternatives: Red Wine, Resveratrol, and Grape Juice
Dr. Oz and his favorite Enforcer of those guests working on implementing healthy alternatives into their Lifestyles were teased about having to drink more than 100 bottles of Red Wine a day to get the same benefits as the lab rats being evaluated for supplemental Resveratrol in clinical trials. Very Funny!
Yes, yes, we all laughed at the thought of guzzling down 100 bottles of Red Wine every night after work and being coherent enough to pop the cork on the 101st bottle before the sun rises on the next day. It’s surely unrealistic!
I have been known to toast the Ram throughout the course of the evening and see clearly through one or two bottles; but then that’s for special events and is a sacred act of co-creation. It’s not the typical manner of securing sufficient quantities of a nutrient that adds to Long Life and a healthy heart.
I have found several alternatives that are enjoyable when looking for ways to add those pigments and molecules to my daily intake of healthy nutrients from liquid sources. They must taste good to be found worthy while fulfilling my requirements for nutrient-density and healthy ingredients.
I love an organic Grape Juice blend of fresh organic apples and purple grapes. The green grapes will add sweetness and some vitamins, but the purple grapes are going to give flavor and nutrients which contribute to Longevity and a healthy Lifestyle. The apples add nutrients and sweet substance, too. Of course, you can vary this with the addition of bananas and other sub-acid fruits. Naturally, we love to blend our berries.
It never hurts to add a few chia seeds or chia seed powder to your juice blend to enhance the nutrient-rich combination and give it some texture and fiber to go along with the anti-oxidants. The Chia-Grape Seed Cocktail…when you use a juicer that is capable of pulverizing seeds, too. The Life Force in seeds is exceptionally powerful for Longevity and vitality.
While Grape Juice and Red Wine are my usual choices, I also like this brand new fizzy beverage loaded with Resveratrol. It has other ingredients which are health-promoting and then there is one ingredient that is not my preferred choice, but it’s OK…guarana. It is an herb that has been used, abused, and misused for quite some time. It is known for its stimulating properties, but I feel it can easily over-stimulate the adrenals when used alone. In this beverage, it is blended with the other components which keeps it more in balance. I only partake occasionally, but it is an excellent choice for those of you who want to drink your Reveratrol in a tasty liquid form!
You can also get Resveratrol in other fruits, but in smaller quantities than the clinical studies suggest are necessary for statistical leverage. Nonetheless, in the real world where people eat real food every day, eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is brilliant!
Many of the studies that indicated health benefits for the heart, for cancer, for nitric oxide metabolic pathways, and for the reduction of inflammation used relatively higher dosages than what most human’s can absorb. So bio-availability becomes an issue here. This means that you need to consume small amounts of foods and beverages and supplementation several times throughout the day to be used in the human body. Also, studies revealed that Resveratrol is quickly metabolized, so that is an indicator that more frequent ingestion of this compound is better, rather than once a day. That’s why the French, Italian, and other European cultures take a glass of Red Wine with their meals as a common practice and frequently have many servings of vegetables every day. If you can do one thing to improve your health, it is to eat your colorful veggies as often as possible and make them taste great with spices, herbs, and other seasonings in order to keep you coming back for more. There’s nothing worse than a soggy vegetable that reminds you of cardboard…
Red Wine will always have its place at my table. If you are like me, you want to be frugal and find the best prices online for your finest Red Wine selections. Here’s our favorite shop:
Make no mistake, there are more compounds in Red Wine than just Resveratrol. It’s the whole wine that keeps us healthy and happy! My Italian ancestors grew grapes for two hundred years and stomped enough of those wondrous grapes into bottles of Red Wine to give me a solid and strong constitution. Don’t ever think that any supplement will take the place of Red Wine. It’s Red Wine first and juice or supplements second and third!
It’s always smart to get your nutrients from Whole Foods and beverages and then supplement according to your individual needs and Lifestyle considerations.
If you want to understand how your choices are affecting your health; then you can have some testing done to give you some broad parameters to determine your health status.
Enjoy your next glass and bottle of Red Wine, make it organic and free of added sulfites. Drink your juices and add foods like peanuts, grapes, and berries. Polygonum which is also called Hu Zhang contains resveratrol in small quantities, too. All in all, we prefer our Red Wine, grape juice, and bubbly Black Grape fizzy drink as our way of supplying our bodies with a little R and other co-factors, but it’s the taste that takes us the rest of the way home, especially a fine wine.
