Dr. Oz and His Oz-Approved Product Endorsements: Second Segment on Salt Inhaler, Light Therapy, Bach Flower Remedies, and Cheating with Processed Foods
The Dr. Oz show continued with the second segment of the hour devoted to Oz-Approved products and health tips. We are continuing our discussion from yesterday and will culminate the conversation tomorrow.
Dr. Oz and Oz-Approved Products, Foods, and Tips
Dr. Oz thinks that his audience are ‘greenhorns’ just like he is with some of these well-known approaches. He acts as if he is introducing something entirely new and unknown on his show when he is actually ‘far behind the times’ with the rest of us who have been the true pioneers of Holistic Health Care and Wellness.
Doctors sure can be ‘full of themselves’ when it comes to thinking that they are the ‘authority’ or the ‘one who knows’… I would think that Dr. Oz would give credit where credit is due.
The Himalayan Salt Inhaler is a commercial version of the use of salt for centuries to soothe swollen tissue and move bodily fluids. The Neti Pot is another example that Dr. Oz once was really thrilled about that demonstrates that salt has been in use in Ayurveda for thousands of years. It’s nothing new… The mode of application may be simplified and easier for people to use with the Inhaler apparatus.
But remember, don’t overuse the Salt Inhaler. It is for temporary use only. If you have too much mucous, you need to avoid or eliminate dairy products, fried foods, and processed foods. Citrus fruit juice accomplishes the same task as do some Essential Oils like Eucalyptus and Peppermint Oil. Salt requires a delicate balance on any tissue or surface…
The Light Therapy segment was decent for the most part, although I would suggest that you use a Full Spectrum Light Bulb instead of an orange bulb. Believe it or not, your body knows which parts of the Visible Light Spectrum to use at any given time of the day or night. When you begin to isolate colors in Visible Light, you can either balance a system or throw it out of balance. Too much orange will become a problem! The Full Spectrum lighting is the most ideal.
Furthermore, you should give yourselves some time off from the computer, the TV, and light in general in the late evening when you are getting ready to go to bed to go to sleep. It’s more important to eliminate all Visible Light when it’s time for you to sleep. I’ve told you about the Bucky Eye Masks that were designed to block out all light, so your brain can secrete Melatonin and support a deep restful sleep.
The best Light Therapy is taking a few minutes out of your hectic day and going outside into the Sun to take a walk or sit for a few minutes to drink in all of that natural light. If you really cannot find those minutes in your day, then there are Light Therapy lamps and devices that are better than orange bulbs. Don’t shortchange yourselves for the sake of the limitations of Dr. Oz’s knowledge base.
OK..let’s talk about Bach Flower Remedies. Dr. Oz mentioned Rescue Remedy which is therapeutically reserved for severe trauma, not daily nor regular use. His family may overuse this remedy… When the numerous remedies were researched and prepared for distribution, they each have specific qualities that are for use during specific conditions. If you want to deal with Stress, don’t rely upon Rescue Remedy. Reserve Rescue Remedy for the most difficult and disturbing of times like the death of a loved one, a serious accident, or a divorce or painful relationship that stirs strong emotions which take you to the brink… That’s when you need to be rescued!
Rather than experimenting with Bach Flower Remedies the way Dr. Oz does, go to a professional who is well-versed in the particular applications for each remedy in order to get the correct one for you at that time. The flower essences interact with the emotional body in the Infrared part of the Light Spectrum. You will notice a shift in your emotions, not your physical body under most circumstances.
Now…let’s get on to the irresponsible ‘Cheating’ approval by Dr. Oz. The very fact that he endorses and approves of ‘cheating’ is an indication that he is fallible and misses the mark when it comes to integrity of care. A true Healer doesn’t encourage his patients to ‘cheat’ themselves. If you are willing to compromise your health and well-being, you are not living an authentic healthy Lifestyle. You have work to do to honor your body, mind, and spirit…to respect your Life and yourselves. Don’t let this doctor convince you that it’s OK to cheat…
If you resort to ‘cheating’ by eating any processed foods, you are going to compromise your health goals. You cannot expect to eat a Fiber One Brownie just because it contains only 90 calories in order to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you crave sweets, then you need to nourish the Earth Element with whole foods, herbal formulas, and nutritional supplements. It would be better to go to your local Whole Foods Market and find a box of organic brownie mix to which you will add eggs and a few other healthy ingredients and bake your own. If you want ice cream to go along with your brownies, then buy some So Delicious Soy Ice Cream or another alternative to replace the artificial dairy products.
I am willing to bet that Dr. Oz has never stepped foot in a Whole Foods Market. He acts as if there are no organic healthy choices or replacements for cookies, brownies, and pasta. The DeBoles artichoke pasta is good, but there are organic brown rice pastas that are fantastic now. You can walk on the ‘wild side’ by going to your local Whole Foods Market and you’ll be able to educate Dr. Oz on healthy foods that don’t require you to cheat on yourself!
Processed foods in general are going to present issues for your health, but at least when you eat organic cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other items; you will be one step ahead of the game that Dr. Oz is playing with you. The ideal is to get all of the raw ingredients and whole foods and prepare everything in your own kitchen. It’s a wise use of your time.
Certainly you can make your own guacamole! Some of the brands that Dr. Oz mentioned are fine, but be sure to shop in reputable Whole Foods Markets that carry fresh products on their shelves. You don’t always have to have corn tortilla chips with your guacamole. You can slather it on a teff tortilla or on a fresh leaf of lettuce and enhance it with cilantro, diced tomato, a dab of sour cream, and a little chipotle salsa without guilt, fear, or any sense of ‘cheating’… Be true to yourselves, to your health goals, and to the sound methods that will get you there with a healthy Lifestyle!
Beware the doctor in sheep’s clothing…
