Dr. Oz and Andrew Zimmer: Exotic Foods for Health and Wellness
This week, Dr. Oz brought Andrew Zimmer back on stage to share more exotic foods from around the world with his audience.
Dr. Oz threw Andrew for a zinger when he brought out the last crate with raw walnuts under cover. Andrew Zimmer is well-known for hating walnuts and refusing to eat them when he regularly consumes foods that none of us would dare to put into our mouths!
I thought it was brazen and inappropriate of Dr. Oz to put Andrew on the spot and basically FORCE him to eat those little devil walnuts. Andrew succumbed and I felt badly for him…
No one could ever force me to put something I don’t like in my mouth! You have to stand your ground and refuse to go against your principles to be true to yourself.
At any rate, Andrew showed people the first crate which contained Aloe. It was supposed to be from Ecuador. We know that there are several species of Aloe and the quality varies widely. I will warn you not to just slice into any old leaf and apply it without risking a reaction. It’s better to use the Aloe Gel or Juice that has been properly processed for the best application.
Get your Aloe from reputable companies that know what they are doing to give you a superior product… Aloe is soothing to be sure. It has properties which will absolutely improve your general health and the aloe is well-known for treating burns and sunburns on the skin.
Zimmer then opened the second crate with the Nopales Cactus inside. the Nopales cactus pear has been used by the indigenous culture of the Southwest for centuries to reduce inflammation and heal the interior of the body from many maladies. I prefer to get my juice from TriVita which sweetens the juice with blue agave syrup with a good ratio. It tastes good enough to take daily which is imperative in order to get the health benefits. Just look for Nopalea as the brand name to get the most ideal form of the pear of the cactus.
Andrew will probably be back next time with yet another wild food that is common for some people and foreign to others. It’s always a good idea to expand your palette and expose yourself to cuisine from all parts of the globe, but you won’t necessarily want to put some of these things in your mouth.
