TheDoctorsTV and Dr. Oz: Dehydration and Water Issues Which Impact Your Health

Both Dr. Oz and the physicians on TheDoctorsTV show discussed Dehydration and how to rehydrate your body on recent episodes. This is a health concern that you must pay close attention to daily.

Most doctors, including our TV docs, tell people to drink eight glasses of water a day. Are they crazy? Do they think that people want to spend more time in the bathroom when the frequency of urination exceeds the amount of time it takes me to write this post!?!

I have spent countless hours testing people who are dehydrated and their health suffers in so many ways that it would take me a week to tell you how dehydration impacts the physical body. From dry skin to constipation and many functional impairments in between; when you are dehydrated on any given day at any given moment, you will find that it weakens your body.

It’s imperative to rehydrate your body and maintain a reasonable level of intake of water and other liquids for genuine health and wellness. But don’t drink so much that you stress your kidneys, bladder, and other internal organs. You can overdo it and that’s almost as harsh as being dehydrated when it takes a toll on your body by demanding that it eliminate the excess water or fluids.

During the holidays, it’s easy to drink too much eggnog, wine, beer, apple cider, champagne, soda, and other beverages. You may be inclined to drink less water, because your thirst will have been quenched by other drinks and water can be so plain and boring… Be mindful of drinking some water every day to give you body what it needs for normal metabolic processes.

I don’t recommend drinking water or other beverages with meals. I feel that it’s better to drink water and beverages between meals. Although if you are eating some processed foods, your colon might need more water than when you eat a plant-based diet. If you are constipated; then you can try drinking more water and see if that helps you to improve your elimination.

Many people take too little water when they take their supplements, especially on an empty stomach. Don’t fall into this trap…sipping only enough water to swallow your pills. The stomach needs more liquid to break down tablets and capsules. Herbs require water to carry them through the blood, body fluids like lymph, and into the cells. If you don’t like drinking water, then take some of your nutritional supplements with a cup of herbal tea. Peppermint is an excellent choice!

The quality of your water is a major issue that we don’t have enough time to discuss on a Blog. The pH of your water is of vital importance. The particulate in your water deserves your attention. Since I choose to use a distiller for much of my water consumption for making tea, coffee, and in food preparation, I also make sure that I supplement with trace minerals like Ionic Liquid Minerals.

I don’t trust the municipal water supply for being a good source of pure water. We’ve talked about the toxins and residue from drugs, pesticides, and other chemicals that are still present from the tap. I never use tap water for cooking or even making ice cubes! A good water filtration system is essential.

You should keep a large supply of fresh water on hand for emergencies when there are power outages or disruption in service. Food Storage Plans deserve a plentiful supply of pure water when you have to cook your whole grains, beans, lentils, legumes, peas, and hydrate freeze-dried foods or powdered items. A little Nutri-Biotic in your stored water will keep it pure.

Water conservation and water issues that affect global populations need to be changed to make our systems more sustainable. Please do your part to make sure that you use this vital resource wisely!
