Weathering Winter’s Weather!

Many people succumb to the cold of Winter. They ache, they shake and shiver, they deliver colds and flu symptoms as if they were pregnant with disease during the cold winter months.

How do you successfully weather Winter well?

You must realize that to be in harmony with Nature, you do what it does. You are quieter, you conserve energy in greater degrees of stillness and rest, and you “dream” the New Year into Being in deep sleeping repose over long winter nights.

You give your body nourishment on a structural level, strengthening your constitution – decidedly “yin” in nature. You consume minerals and root vegetables. You balance warming foods with vegetables, Greens, herbs, stewed meats, with nuts and seeds.

Soups, stews, broths, whole grain dishes…these contribute to your health during wintertime. These are days for pickles instead of cucumbers, sauerkraut instead of cabbage, dried fruit instead of fresh, and food storage provides the remainder of goodies that will give you sufficient vitamins C, D, E, and A when your garden is laying dormant.

Winter days are ideal for hot Ginger Lemon Tea.  Hot Oatmeal and maple syrup make a solid breakfast.  Warm puddings are perfect for dessert.  Herbal Teas with agave and a hint of cinnamon round out the end of the day.

You will weather Winter with enhanced wellness and Well-Being beyond your expectations!
