TheDoctorsTV and Body Sounds: Funny Sounds and Simple Silencing Solutions

Some people don’t want to silence their funny body sounds, because the noise draws attention and makes people laugh. However, there are some among us who would like to know how simple healthy Lifestyle changes can silence the farts, burps, growls, creaks, pops, and unspellable sounds that the human body makes when it is out of Balance.

First and funniest is the FARTING…

Dr. Travis, Dr. Jim, and Dr. Drew all got a big chuckle out of the discussion about farts and the crazy sounds of passing gas with all the usual jokes. Even Dr. Lisa smiled while explaining that a fetus cannot be blamed for a fart sound from a pregnant woman, so you’ll have to keep blaming it on the dog or your hubby.

Dr. Jim did have a couple of the foods that are thought to be the biggest culprits for creating gas in the intestines, but we want to give you further insight about two of these foods. The beans get a bad reputation for causing gas and many people avoid eating beans due to the mistaken impression. What the real story about beans is, is this: Beans that are properly soaked, rinsed, and cooked will not produce much gas; but will be digested fully and lend plenty of fiber to prevent excessive farting. Beans need to be soaked and then drained and rinsed before being cooked in boiling water. Then you need to add some sea salt and a slab of kombu to the beans while you are boiling them, so they are completely digested when eaten. You can also add carrots, onion, celery, burdock root, garlic, and spices like cumin or cayenne to add zip and zing to your bean dishes. You can also garnish your beans with herbs like thyme, oregano, scallions, cilantro, and parsley. A little toasted sesame oil is always going to provide some great flavor to your bean dishes. You will do better when you combine beans with whole grains for your complete protein requirements and for having two complimentary dishes for your meal along with a vegetable serving and greens and a pickled accompaniment.

The kombu is a monumental key to preparing beans in a way that facilitates digestion. Kombu and other sea vegetables will settle down the colon and reduce the amount of gas produced by improper or incomplete digestion. That’s the underlying reason for generating gas in the first place – incomplete digestion of the foods that a person is eating. This is often due to the lack of enzymes, the way the foods are prepared, and the way the foods are not chewed or combined with compatible foods or beverages.

You can also make a kudzu pudding or drink peppermint tea to support the digestive process and reduce the amount of gas in the intestines. Kudzu pudding tastes great and peppermint tea is wonderful. Just be sure that your peppermint tea is organic. You can also use Peppermint Essential Oil to enhance digestion and resolve your dilemma with excess gas. You will still fart a little bit, but they won’t be noxious nor will they be explosive!

Peppermint tea is a good solution for burping after you eat a meal. It is used for nausea and a queezy stomach in many cultures along with helping with morning sickness for pregnant women. You do have to drink organic and fresh Peppermint tea or else you won’t get the health benefits, only the flavor.

Burping from swallowing air needs to be a conscious change in the way you swallow and the way you breathe. Be mindful and you can quit swallowing so much air that a burp is unavoidable. If you do this in a conscious and intentional manner, you will also reduce the incidence of bacteria in your stomach which leads to ulcers and pain. I didn’t really like Dr. Lisa’s suggestion to drink some olive oil before a date to keep your stomach from growling. Just throwing some oil into your stomach is not an ideal solution, because it still stimulates the stomach to have to break down and begin to digest the oil. It is better to drink some fresh fruit or vegetable juice or some pure water. If you eat small, but more frequent meals; that change in your Lifestyle will prevent the loud growls from anticipation and readiness for food when you wait too long between meals and you experience greater hunger. You can nibble on nuts, seeds, healthy snacks, and fresh fruit between major meals. Graze…and resist the tempation to inhale your monster meals. Dr. Lisa was right to suggest that you eat smaller meals more frequently whether you are a guy going on a date or a pregnant woman who may feel more hungry than usual from the demands upon her system to nurture the growing fetus. Eat when you’re hungry, don’t wait until you are famished! You won’t be as inclined to growl like a starving bear when your body is well-nourished on a regular basis.

Lastly, we want to mention the sounds in your ears called Tinnitus. In TCM, the ringing in your ears is a sign of imbalance in either the Kidney or the Liver meridians. You don’t need sophisticated musical earpieces when you get acupuncture and herbs for restoring your Balance in these bio-energetic systems. Your acupuncturist can tell you what will accomplish this for you following a diagnosis with tongue and pulse analysis. Although, some people feel that there is a spiritual connection occurring when they hear an occasional ringing in their ears. It is possible that a higher frequency is resonating in your brain and cranial cavity which is responsible for the sound you hear internally. This is usually of short duration. You can discern between a bio-energetic imbalance and contact with Greatness…

There are many other sounds that a human body makes that we could discuss, but these are the basic three that most people ask about for ways to quiet, calm, or silence the amusing noises that emanate from the body or can be heard internally. Silence is golden and a balanced body is an indication that you are changing to a healthy Lifestyle.
