TheDoctorsTV and Oz: Longevity Smoothies, Alternatives to Fizzy Soda Pop, and Cabbage Juice for Ulcers

It was another informative day on both of the popular medical television shows, TheDoctorsTV and Dr. Oz when we heard their opinions about Diabetes, Fatty Livers, problems with fructose in Soda Pop, the goodies in the Longevity Smoothie, and even the value in drinking fresh cabbage juice for ulcers.

Dr. Jim accompanied by his fellow physicians all agreed that Dr. Lisa needs to exchange her Soda Pop and Licorice for healthier drinks and candy that doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup. Dr. Drew and Dr. Travis tried to make people feel better by saying that these things were OK to be eaten occasionally in moderation, but we have to disagree with that perspective! No one who is in their right mind would ever let fructose slip past their lips these days, not with all the scientific evidence that shows that this sweetener is not tolerated by the human body. Just say, “NO”! There are too many healthy sweeteners available now to compromise your health by ANY use of high fructose corn syrup. No excuses…doctors!

Dr. Travis admitted that all of them were looking for better beverages than Soda Pop. We highly recommend Brain Toniq, Jones Soda, and Reed’s China Cola or Reed’s Ginger Brew. These fizzy drinks use blue agave syrup or organic cane sugar to sweeten the liquid that supports our metabolic function, instead of disrupting it. Seriously, doctors: I will personally get the staff of Brain Toniq to contact you, so you can finally practice what you preach! Deal? And we can certainly find Dr. Lisa some healthy and good tasting Licorice to replace that sugar-laden articifically-colored and flavored crappola…

What the doctors stopped short of saying was that it is obvious that people should avoid artificial or processed sweeteners that go boom in the body. Dr. Jim mentioned aspartame which should be avoided at all costs, even if it was the last thing on earth to drink! Dr. Travis had mentioned that they were all drinking Green Tea after filming an episode last week, but that remains to be seen… Water is fine when you really want something to quench mere thirst, but there are times when you want to sit down and truly savor interesting flavors and that’s where herbal teas, green/white/black teas, organic hot chocolate, and organic coffees come into play. These healthy beverages are as complex and varied as are Red Wines… Even Dr. Oz has been enjoying his Smoothies and today it happened to be his Longevity Smoothie.

Dr. Oz and his Longevity Smoothie or Magical Breakfast Blaster Drink

Personally, most of the kids that I know who are smart and intelligent will appreciate the fact that you care enough to put healthy ingredients into their Smoothies – you no longer need to hide flaxseed oil or other natural foods that this generation knows is good for their bodies. I can do without the psyllium and exchange it for more real whole fruit which will give the fiber and nutrients that we are looking for in our Smoothies. Dr. Oz changed his link for his Longevity Smoothie to take his readers to his Breakfast Blaster recipe which is the same except that it suggests apple juice OR honey to sweeten the Smoothie. Either way, this is a really good way to start your day and you can have one in the afternoon, too.

It was shocking to learn that some of those students had zero servings of fresh fruit or vegetables before they started their Dr. Oz Challenge! Oh, wait, I forgot that their parents, teachers, and cohorts were guzzling down their soda pop, sugar snacks, and fizzy freezes that fog their brains. It’s no wonder that these young people have no support system to model healthy behavior! Even the presence of the Chiquita Banana Lady didn’t impress me, although organic bananas and other fruit need to become a staple in these student’s diets if they are going to shape up and get healthy!

One of the redeeming moments on the Dr. Oz show was when Oz admitted that he loved hearing about Home Remedies like the freshly-juiced green cabbage that one of his audience members used for ulcers after going into a health food store to find an alternative to medication. At least, the Oz staff researched this and found that it is effective. Cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables are known to be great for the digestive system and to support immune function. The catch is that the cabbage juice needs to be FRESH! You can’t run out to the grocery store and buy old stale cabbage juice in a glass bottle or an aluminum can! LOL You simply must juice it yourself or go to a great local establishment that juices organic fruits and vegetables. They most likely will also be able to whip you up a Longevity Smoothie, if you have forgotten to make your own in the morning.

But then, if you had gotten a good night’s sleep, because your pineal gland produced adequate amounts of melatonin to take you into deep and restorative sleep; you would have awakened refreshed and alert enough to have made your own designer Longevity Smoothie. Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and every color of berry are going to lend you more years and more vitality, so change your own version of the Longevity Smoothie to include an assortment of berries, including the Goji Berry. Goji Berries or Wolfberries are going to give you more bang for your buck, since they have been used for thousands of years in the East for Longevity and well-being.

The vital organs that the doctors discussed today need the nutrients from fresh fruit like Goji Berries and mango, banana and blueberries and many others to stay in tip-top condition rather than developing cancers or becoming inflamed when irritated by synthetic chemicals in one’s diet and environment. That Fatty Liver that Dr. Travis talked about would have a much easier time filtering the blood, if you eat your organic fresh fruit, drink your Smoothies, and eat your organic veggies with whole grains. If you don’t provide the fiber from your whole foods diet, then the Liver is stressed to do more than its fair share, especially when you continue to devour fried foods, foods with saturated fats, and milk that’s been homogenized…

If you really want to take good care of your Liver, you will change your diet to a plant-based whole foods diet that features dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, fruits, avocado, fish like salmon, REAL whole grains, and sea vegetables. Citrus fruits like lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, and oranges are going to assist your Liver in addressing fats in your diet. Use these fruits and their juice in salad dressings, sauces, and dips like guacamole, vinaigrettes, and hummus. You can even add these citrus juices to water and sweeten with white grape juice for a refreshing whet-your-whistle kind of water plus beverage. Dr. Lisa spoke about herpes and yet she didn’t mention the value of GSE in eliminating this virus from one’s body. Maybe she doesn’t know…

The last thing that I want to mention about today’s episode on the big diseases, especially Diabetes…is that a Raw Foods diet has been shown to reverse these degenerative diseases. Even Barbra Streisand knows the relative value of healthy foods and the role diet plays in one’s cardio-vascular health! Barbra has funded research into the value of stem cell therapy for women facing heart attacks and cardiac problems. Way, way, way back in the 1980’s, Barbra Streisand employed a friend of our family, Marcella, to cook for her and provide Massage Therapy daily. It was good to hear that Dr. Oz also recommends Massage Therapy! I feel that we are building bridges between Bio-Energetic Medicine and traditional Western Medicine every day and that’s a good sign – especially for our doctors and their patients that depend upon them for the very best care in the world.

I was 52 years old and I had a massive stroke in 1999. I’m 62. I couldn’t speak, completely aphasic, and I couldn’t walk; confined to a wheelchair and five hospitals. Nothing clicks. It’s a profound, hopelessly, bleak situation and no way out. It’s tabula rasa; it’s a blank slate.

I’m not a physician, or a dentist, or a science guy. That said, here’s my events about the stroke and mercury fillings. I obtained medical records 10 years ago. I suffered from funky foul breath and a metallic taste; paralyzing fear all the time, constantly; excessive sweating, and palpitations so heart-stopping, so violent and nasty, for 20 years. I know what I know.

    Read my blog. 20 pages.
