TheDoctorsTV and Oz: Melatonin for Sleep, Natural Cosmetics for Skin, and Hormones for Your Balanced Life

It may come as no surprise to our frequent visitors here that we share with you some great ideas that take you into a healthy Lifestyle when you are interested in the medical and health information that is discussed on TV, Radio, the Net, and other venues for the public. Now that The DoctorsTV and Dr. Oz have started a new season, we have plenty of good new information to share with all of you. First let’s talk about how unrealistic it is to take synthetic hormones if you are a human being!

Dr. Lisa tried to convince her audience that taking Birth Control Pills or Hormone Replacement Therapy using synthetic hormones to artificially regulate your body’s functions was OK. Well, she did mention that there is a known risk for cancer and other complications, but she really did try to sell the position that it was alright to put these synthetic compounds into your body. We strongly disagree!

My own mother took pills she was told by her physician were safe to prevent any pregnancies after her four children were born. Then a few years later, my mother had the misfortune to have her physician tell her that those same safe Pills had caused her cancer. She died, no longer trusting physicians trying to hawk their hormones. I have seen my fair share of women whose bodies were seriously compromised when taking synthetic hormones. There are natural and better ways to regulate your endocrine system and balance your hormones! You can read about those methods in my first Newsletter.

Dr. Oz talked about melatonin and so did Dr. Travis. Sleep and the regulation of the body’s production of melatonin is one of the most important health issues that you will face during your entire Lifetime. You will NOT be healthy, truly healthy and strong, unless you get a restful sleep every night.

Dr. Travis described a recent article that explained that if you get up to go to the bathroom during the night and turn on the lights to see where you’re aiming (which seemed more important to Dr. Jim that the melatonin)…that your body’s ability to produce melatonin could be compromised, reduced, and affect your health. It’s true, when there is light, the brain releases serotonin rather than melatonin. You must have total darkness to ensure that you produce melatonin. City Lights, night lights, and interruptions during sleep all interfere with this process.

Wear a good mask to block out all of the light during the night. Sleep in total darkness by creating that environment in your Bedroom. Don’t drink fluids in the evening, so you don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to urinate. And be sure to design your Lifestyle to enhance and nurture your ability to sleep in harmony and peace.

Now, Dr. Travis admitted that all four of the doctors wear make-up when on the stage to produce their TV show. They were wondering how safe their make-up actually is, since it is known to contain carcinogens and chemicals which can harm the skin and cause cancer and other health concerns.
