BreastMilk, Bruises, and Cracked Lips: TheDoctorsTV and Gender Differences for Health Issues
This repeat performance began with a gender-oriented study of fifty-one students who were studied to determine if men or women had more germs on their hands. The results were that girls’ hands were laden with more bacteria than the guys. But Dr. Lisa complained, and rightly so, that this was a flawed and ridiculous study from its inception. That’s true!
It’s only pertinent for those fifty-one individuals. The study is not large enough to make generalizations on this issue. Dr. Jim reminded everyone that in a previous episode the women’s purses were loaded with germs. But then the other doctors weighed in and admitted it all depends…
Mothers teach their children to wash their hands regularly after and before certain activities. Who listens? It depends upon the child and their grasp of the reason for washing one’s hands. Even fairly well-educated adults fail miserably in this department and people pay the price with the spread of colds, flu, and other contagious conditions. If one’s immune system is strong, then it is not so much a matter of exposure and it is of invasive opportunity to take advantage of a weakened system.
Whether you are a girl or a guy, you will need to strengthen your immune system and regenerate your white blood cells. You will need to make sure that your lymphatic system functions properly and you will need to get enough physical movement to assist with the circulation of blood and body fluids.
Then there was the Breast Milk segment as the discussion continued! That was funny and informative. Do you buy processed breast milk for your baby if you have a communicable disease or cannot nurse for some reason? Yes, that’s fine. Do you share the breast milk of a friend or a stranger? It depends upon how much you know about that person’s state of health. Do they eat well enough to nourish your baby? Do you trust them to be truly healthy, so they don’t pass on any surprise health problems?
You are going to have to decide that level of safety for yourself and for your child’s long term health. As far as I am concerned, if you know the other person as well as you know yourself; then it is most likely alright as long as they are genuinely healthy individuals. If they are strangers or keep vital information from you; then you have just made a huge error in judgment and your child pays the price for your ignorance.
Dr. Jim is the ultimate pediatrician. He showed what each color of spit up might mean for babies and demonstrated what an ounce of milk looked like. He described the difference between the types of colored food a baby eats and the pathogenic colors of bile green or the blood red concern.
I say that you should breastfeed your children until they are ready to wean themselves somewhere between the time they begin to eat solid foods and the time they turn two or so. For those of us who are nurturing, yet prudent mothers; it can often be determined by the teeth and the inclination for the baby to be gentle or in the mood to munch with bites. Then it ends quickly and decisively… LOL
Formula is no REAL substitute for breast milk. The immune system just doesn’t get the same support with formula and babies need the mother’s shared immunity to do well in the early years of their lives. But in a pinch, then an organic formula or water does satisfy your infant until you return to breastfeeding duty. There’s just nothing like the bond with your child during the time that you are sharing this nurturing experience. That’s so significant!
Bruises are common for children who play hard and fast, regardless of whether they are male or female. But as young women reach puberty and begin to menstruate; the possibility for deficiency of the Xue or blood becomes greater unless they eat a great diet of mineral rich food which nourish the blood. That’s one reason why women may be considered by our doctors to be more prone to bruising. Dr. Travis thinks women are more delicate. Dr. Lisa doesn’t… I have seen both in either sex.
If the capillaries and the muscle sheaths that surround the blood vessels are weak; then bruises are more common and frequent in both sexes. It takes herbal formulations and healthy foods to change this by strengthening the blood vessels and the muscle tone.
If you bruise easily; then you are a candidate for herbs and whole foods which build blood. You can massage MSM lotion or CMO cream on the surface of the skin to help your body heal the bruise more readily. There are essential oils that also accomplish this feat. But you are really going to want to nourish the entire body to prevent future bad bruises. One of the things that is also important is that you develop your sense of ‘space’. You need to become aware of where you body is as it moves through space and time, so you don’t bump into hard objects or surfaces due to being a ‘space cadet’… LOL
Cracked lips are found in both genders, but it seems to bother women more often than being problematic in the minds of men. There are those people who are addicted to their lip balms and then there are those who barely notice their lips unless they are parting for a burger and fries.
Cracked corners of the mouth are commonly a result of a deficiency of the vitamin B Complex, especially B12 as the doctors pointed out. Vegans DO get B12 in their diets, Dr. Travis, just not from the usual sources. If you think you might be deficient in B12; then a sub-lingual B12 is preferable. They will dissolve slowly in your mouth and the tissue will use the vitamin immediately. Then there’s always the goodness of whole grains and sea vegetables… That’s the delicious way to get your B vitamins!
There are other health issues that are gender specific, but so many of these myths and legends are not accurate for the general population…they are a matter of individual choices of behavior. So that means that your choices for a healthy Lifestyle have more to do with this than any other factor, including your gender. A healthy Lifestyle is a reflection of your personal attitude and approach to genuine Wellness and well-being!
