What’s Safe to Touch…TB at the Mall… Flu at School?
People invariably touch many surfaces and common items when in Public places likes schools and shopping Malls. Pathogens hitch a ride on these surfaces to widen their territory and spread disease invisibly…it’s only touching the surface of the problem!
There’s no definitive way to know what surfaces are sanitary and which are harboring germs. Most businesses have not yet implemented policies to clean these surfaces regularly or effectively. That makes you responsible for deciding what to touch and how to avoid contact with bugs which produce the Flu or worse like TB.
Today, parents and customers of a local store in a Mall here in Washington state spoke out about their disgust at not being notified that one of the store employees had tested Positive for TB. They found out about it on the News! They’re mad as can be…that virtually no respect was shown for customers risking their health without being aware of it happening. Now…this family will have to repeatedly test for TB to be certain for the sakes of their children.
Hong Kong students had their schools closed following massive numbers of cases of the Flu this last week. They are disinfecting the schools now and students are home sick as can be…hit by a severe strain of the Flu. The school officials are wondering why so many students caught the Flu so quickly!
