Dr. Oz and Healthy Crepinis for Any Meal of the Day!
I was watching as Dr. Oz was helping his guest taste his recommended alternatives for her weight management plan.
Sometimes the food that is given as a substitute just lacks flavor, texture, and appeal which is why so many folks are eating foods that are either salty or sweet…or both. Surely, people must realize that there ARE healthy alternatives that taste GREAT!
Here is one company that we want to introduce you to that has healthy crepes that will delight you for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a healthy quick quality snack between meals.
They are called crepinis due to their size and the old-fashioned European cuisine from whence the recipes come. The sweet selections will be perfect for breakfast or dessert after dinner. The savory ones will satisfy the saltiness cravings for lunch and dinner. Both sweet and savory crepinis are excellent for an easy and nutritious snack.
You don’t have to sacrifice flavor for healthiness! In fact, these little pockets of goodness will change your mind about how delicious a healthy alternative can be…
Just take a look at the pictures of these tasty morsels! My mouth waters and I find myself eager to whip a couple up to satisfy both my need for nutrient-dense whole foods and my pleasure when enjoying gourmet cuisine at its finest. This is the best of all worlds combined…
Now…my favorite is the Cherry Crepini, because the full-flavored sour cherries are nicely sweetened and support the function of my Gall Bladder while balancing the energy running through the Gall Bladder Meridian system. Of course, I am glad for both the flavor and the function. They go hand in hand with one another. I prefer these for breakfast and for a dessert after a meal with any fats.
The savory blend of portobello mushrooms and parmagiano and ricotta cheeses while being completed with herbs. This crepini has dairy, wheat, and eggs, so it’s not the best choice for those who have allergies to these ingredients. But the flavor is divine if you love aged cheeses and roasted portobello mushrooms with garlic!
My next most favorite is the organic spinach paired with feta for a classic taste that is filling and serves to give you your dark leafy greens in a way that will satisfy your taste buds.
If you are in a chocolate mood, then be ready for a pleasant surprise with the La Dolce Vita crepini with fine chocolate blended with Italian plums soaking in the goodness of Grand Marnier and finished with orange zest. What a treat!
The crepini with four cheeses and basil is also a culinary delight. You can also get naked crepinis to add your own creative concoctions for your dream dish of your own making. I have made mine with bananas, apricots, pears, peaches, berries, and even mango. In the vegetable category there have been my go-to choices of onion, shi’itake, roasted bell peppers, roasted garlic, and sweet potato either salted or with maple syrup. I often add a little tofu that I have scrambled with diced broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage drizzled in either tamari or balsamic vinegar.
Pardon me for a moment…I have to go have my crepini snack!
OK…I am back. Really, when you taste these light blankets with great fillings hiding inside, you will know why I am blogging about these beauties.
Let me know which one(s) are your favorites? I’m curious!
The biggest challenge that Dr. Oz faces with people who want to get healthy again is the transition to good whole foods. This choice of crepini will get you off to a great start any day of the week…and twice on weekends!
