Dr. Oz and Rocco DiSpirito: Move Over Black Bean Brownies – Come to the Dinner Party

Dr. Oz repeated his episode where he had Rocco DiSpirito present his recipe for his Black Bean Brownies.

Well, that’s a healthy alternative to some Brownie recipes, but it’s certainly not the healthiest one that I have used! It’s important to remember that you can use organic ingredients and even gluten-free ingredients which add fiber, nutrients, and flavor to the average Brownie recipe.

Dr. Oz and Rocco’s Black Bean Brownie Recipe

Rocco is doing you a real injustice with this recipe! He should never use canned beans, he should not be using any egg substitute, neither should he be using whole wheat flour. If you want to improve on that recipe with superior ingredients, then go to this Gluten-Free website and then over to the Frontier website to find them:

Rocco DiSpirito has been busy lately designing a new series on BravoTV. He is putting on a quasi-contest between two people who prepare food for a Dinner Party. The best person who delivers on the atmosphere, the menu, and the unique tastes of the Surprise Guest wins some money.

The first episode was a sham in my opinion. The REAL chef made better food than the teacher at a high school who bungled several of his dishes and his approach to the Dinner Party for Padma Lakshmi. Chef King should have won the competition with his slippers, his Vespa, and his spices. The school teacher did not put enough mustard in his sausage dish, did not deliver on the spices, and did not provide a decent dessert. The gimmick of a tiny blackboard and silly question about “What Would You Be?” when you had a room full of successful professionals left me cold and mystified at how Rocco could possibly think that Joel did the better job. I doubt that I will watch another episode after this first fiasco.

I have had my own share of Dinner Parties, owned and operated a Destination Resort, and prepared the menu and the food at our Natural Foods Restaurant. I know what it takes to deliver on the goods! Chef King did…and teacher Joel did not. So what is going on in Rocco’s head? Maybe it’s all that processed food he’s been eating all of these years… At least Padma is more oriented toward a natural approach. Both of them have been on the Food Network and in other areas of the Food Service world, but they have yet to earn their stripes in my world!
